I grew up watching the Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts and The Friars Club Roasts. They were cool because those guys really were close friends. They actually hung out. The friars club was so cool because as a member you could walk in sit down and introduce yourself to famous comedians and actors and become friends. The roasts that are being done now are produced and directed like a movie. Theres very little said that wasnt scripted. These people arent close friends. Half dont know each other and prob wont see each other again. It doesnt have the feel of the original roasts. I guess thats what were stuck with.
