Ola JC, good video as always. Cometa has a long history and produces good quality springers. Regarding the shorter barrels on springers... I, for one, love short rifles. So I almost always opt for short-barrelled models. My TX200 HC US 1.77, HW 97KT 1.77, HW 98 1.77 2020 all have short barrels of just 31cm. And as JC knows, those targets all go down very easily. For example, I don't notice any difference between my HW97 and the HW77, which has a longer barrel. Comets are good and I like them, but they have their limitations. Have a good weekend my friend. Cheers

Great performance. Your shots at 40yrds go right and low, 2 -3 possible explanations. 1. Too powerfull for a .177 at 15 fpe, personally I'll opt to reduce power to 12 fpe, British know better when comes to .177. 2. Use a better scope and a barrel muzzle break (standard in older production guns) instead of the current muffler. 3. Your aiming, just zero at that distance and be carefull of paralax error due to cheap scope. By the way, I believe this stock is not walnut, still is preety awesome.

Regarding 40 yard accuracy, the 20 yard group is .35" which, given the same angle of deviance, would mean about 7/10" error at 40, which is about what you were seeing on the smaller targets.

Nice review on a nice looking rifle. It's curious that the accuracy degrades after 30 yards. That would seem to indicate that something is causing the pellet to destabilize out there. Since you have good velocity and accuracy closer in, barrle length shouldn't be a factor. But nice otherwise!

Maybe...but using the heavier pellets it usually corrects the wind issues for the most part. I believe the shorter barrel is the main issue at the longer distance. Thanks for tuning in and I appreciate your comments!😉
@FTShooter4 ай бұрын
I'm suprised a springer guy such as yourself doesn't already know this but short barrel in a piston gun is typically a great thing. The TX200, arguably the best, has a barrel length of roughly 9.5" under that shroud. There have actually been studies that show anything over 10" (give or take) has no real added benefit outside of cocking leverage. Given the absolute beast that the Hatsan 135 is manages a whopping 32fpe (more with some tweaking) with a 10.5" barrel, those studies seem pretty accurate haha From watching the video it certainly seems like wind was a factor and based on the shadows at LEAST a consistent 5mph. Even with heavier pellets you would be looking at upwards of a 1.5" drift at that range. The proper hold off would have been left edge based on the misses. A center hold was asking for trouble. Anyway, thats just my unasked for 2 cents! Hope it helps! @AirgunDetectives

Nice review , I’ve been a fan of Cometa air rifles for long time. My 1st Nice break barrel was RWS 94 ( made by Cometa). In the beginning it was a love and hate relationship with the gun, would miss sometimes, but after it broke in and I mastered the hold, it was super accurate. As far as it having only a 9” barrel, I don’t believe that’s a deal breaker, my AA Pro Sport has about same length barrel, it doesn’t hurt its accuracy. Most of my springer shooting is 20-30yards so I’d be happy with its accuracy. I’m sure the chipmunks would hate it lol.

Those 400 usc are a beautiful looking gun , i was going to buy one recently but the one i wanted was out of stock then there was a delay with the delivery of the new stock, i ended up getting a weihrauch hw95 N field pro it was considerably more expensive and i had to put a tune kit in it to get rid of the twang
@davidpaylor56663 ай бұрын
Nice review, very thorough. I agree about the trigger, they should never have put a plastic trigger on a mid-level springer in the first place but to do a bad job of painting a metal one gold (presumably to look like a Weihrauch Rekord trigger) is just tacky. The extra cost of a metal trigger and trigger-guard instead of plastic is gonna be what, five bucks? Maybe ten. Just do that, it isn't going to put anyone off by being a tiny bit more expensive BUT plastic fittings are the reason I don't have a Cometa. That said their new Fusion with a lovely grey laminate stock (and a metal trigger) is pretty close to the top of my list. Thanks for taking the time, subbed.

They aren't stop holes I think, they go right through as you'll find out with a long enough screw, I don't know why but I have a Fusion that is the same, if you look down them with a light you'll see what I mean, really strange but I love Cometas. You can actually jam things, but if you use a normal larger screw with a taper point it works.
@AirgunDetectives5 ай бұрын
Hi David, actually, they are designed for stop pins that have a massive tapper and don't protrude too far. There is absolutely no reason to have the holes in that area of the chamber unless for a stop pin. But you are correct, anything the protrudes too far into the hole could interfere with the piston movement during the cocking process. Thank you for tuning in and I really appreciate you taking the time to leave comments. Happy Shooting!

I shot with a lot of Cometa models and believe me that JSB pellets are mutch bether for that barrel. You need one softer pellet leather to extract all that potencial. I suggest JSB Exact 8.44 grains. The trigger is made of very hard aluminum extremely durable and well maded. If you fine tunning him for softer mode you can get 120 grams trigger with all is safety inshored. Have fun my friend. 😉

Nice gun but the 9 " barrel length lets it down for any distance shooting. I have a "Chaser" co2 pistol carbine kit. The pistol barrel is 8 1/4" and is a tack driver out to about 15-20 meters, any further and the accuracy falls off. The carbine rifle barrel is 17" and well capable of decent accuracy out to 50 meters. I had a look at the Cometa website and the specs give overall rifle length but not the length of the barrels, are they all the same @ 9"? For the price it's a beaut of a rifle and a springer too, always a plus in my book, no extras required to make it go and easier to repair, replace or upgrade parts. Maybe because of PCPs we expect more from springers these days? Springers used to be tested out to 25yds and we were well happy with the results,( Cometas was excellent) now we're looking at 40+ yards, is that unrealistic to look for in a break barrel? I know there are break barrels that can shoot well out to 40+ yards but they usually cost an arm and a leg. Any ways, good review as always JC...😁👍
