I have had the X3 M40i before... I did like it but I recently upgraded to the X3 M Comp and I freaking LOVE it. Its a little stiffer ride but its a true M and very aggressive in its drive

Very nice video! I have a 2023 X3 M40i as well & absolutely love it! Mine is Mineral White with red seats and I drive it in Sport Plus often! I have the same wheels and it's a little too bumpy at times, but not a deal breaker. I have mine spec'd out very similar to yours. I must say, I watched this video on the TV with my surround sound. The take off at the beginning sounded like a movie lol. And, when you demo'd the parking assist feature at the 38 minute mark, that engine sounded soooo good! This car is so fun to drive!

I followed you because I was interested in an x5 f15 but I will probably buy a pre LCI 3x m40i , seems like the best suv balance for performance and practicality. Just feels a tad less luxurious than the x5 but it’s worth it for the nimble handling as a trade off.

The exhaust on the Canadian version has a bit more character. On downshift it has a nice deep growl to it. I'm surprised the US version is slightly different.

comprehensive review man, love it! i have the 2022. i turned off auto break hold and drive in sport individual to turn off auto start stop. the auto start stop is seamless, and an aweseome feature. but at times it makes it harder to creep in, especially in a tight garage (along with the auto break hold).

Great car, I have the 2018 X3M40i, the exhaust pops a lot more during WOT and start up. I know BMW started using the mild hybrid system in the 2022's and up. Wish they would have left the exhaust alone and kept it being burbly like my 2018. Aside from that, I love the refreshed headlights and the taillights grew on me.

I'm hoping the exhaust gets louder as it gets more miles on it. I do like how the pre-lci models sound. I usually hear them before I see them. The upshift pops are quiet and I can't hear it from the outside.

I wanted a Tesla as well and the model x and s looks so much better with the recent price drop. Not sure I’m ready for an all electric vehicle just yet.

@@eddiemcars I'm leaning towards the M40I for the more accommodating suspension. Given the going price difference, I would be looking at a LCI M40I or a previous gen (2020 X3M). Given all that I love my damn F80. The incoming car seats and strollers have me questioning it though.

TheMike B53 - We have a '23 x3 M40. We spec'd it with the standard 19" wheels for several reasons - 1) Taller sidewalls; more comfort as a daily driver 2). "Non-staggered fitment so tire rotations are possible for increased tire wear and 3). No extra cost. If you're in a climate with "white stuff" in the winter; those o.e. 19" wheels could also end up being your winter wheels giving you option of many aftermarket wheels in 20's or 21's for fitment with summer performance tires. Just a thought.... Having had o.e. BMW leather previously, we orderedd our x3 with the Tacora Red Sensatec; saved some $$$ and honestly, never felt the o.e. leather was that luxurious. And 1 more idea: We thoroughly enjoyed the factory delivery option in Spartanburg, SC; makes delivery a truly special experience and then your local dealer never touches your new BMW. Made for a nice 1,200 mile vacation drive back home too!

Yes, it’s a max size phone. I haven’t noticed any sliding. The benefit of the wireless charger is that you can use your phone to start the car without the key.

The drive sportier. The X5 I felt like I was driving a sporty SUV. The X3 feels more compact and nimble thus, feels more like a sports car. The shorter wheel base makes the ride more “choppy” over broken pavement which is something I never noticed on the X5. Also the upgraded technology makes me like the X3 more.

Thanks for the comprehensive review. I have been looking at the X3 m40 vs the GLC 43. After this review I am leaning towards the BMW. Any thoughts good or bad on the GLC 43?

I'm glad you found the review helpful. We considered the GLC 43,but my wife didn't find of the black plastic around the fenders appealing and I agree it sort of cheapened the car some. We tried to step up to the 63 but the wider “hips” on the rear made it more difficult to get a child in/out of car seat for someone with a shorter reach. Other than we loved the interior of the Mercedes.

No it doesn’t have subscriptions like heated seats. However, it doesn’t have subscription to drive recorder if it’s equipped with 360 cameras. Pros of subscription is you don’t have to pay for something you’re using unless you want to use it. Con is it sounds like you’re being double charged for a feature. But… buying a used car that may not have the feature you’re looking for could enable you to activate that feature if the original owner didn’t use it. (Eg heated seats)

I’ve rarely put a front plate on, unless I buy a used car and it was already installed. Cops typically don’t bother you. It’s the ones who place the front plate visible in their dashboard giving it away they choosing not to install a bracket are getting stopped.

@@mjadamci Another option, albeit it is an "offset" installation, is to get a tow hook license plate mount. I've used the U.S. Millworks plates on several cars including our 2023 x3 M40i. A very sturdy, high quality piece...priced accordingly. They have a nice "quick release" option too.

@@thewanderingsoul111 I actually moved to an mdx type s but only because it had stuff like massaging seats, air suspension, etc. The b58, zf, and the x drive on the m40i make it such a killer combo. It’s still the most fun driving. I found that it does drink oil. More than any vehicle I’ve ever had. You need to keep a few quarts handy. Normal for the motor. Other than that, enjoy.
