I picked up the Tales from the Crypt 35. I went in planning to spend about 5-6k for it. I just really wanted the book, and didn't care if I over-paid a little to get it. I don't mind over-paying for Gaines File copies of EC books that I really want. Like you said, who knows when the next File copy of this book will come out (and if a higher grade comes out I can always bid on it, but now I won't feel pressured to have to chase it). In the meantime I own one of the two most badass werewolf covers of all time 😀 I am overall happy about the purchase.

That Horrific #3 is hilarious. 'I'm sure nobody will ever look at this closely enough to notice my copy-paste job' and here we are decades later still enjoying this classic art. Stories like this make it even better.

Auctions always depend on who’s in the room and how much they want a certain item. For that reason, there will be strong and weak sales. That’s why I don’t give too much credence to auctions when it comes to pricing books. A book in the same grade may sell for $12,000 and then $8,000 a week later. I remember you talking about a certain book that sold for a high price and then a much lower price in the same auction! Auctions are just pot luck to me. Private sales and convention sales matter just as much, if not more than auctions.

Great analogy of the auction as usual Ryan…always enjoy your take on things! I thought the prices were strong for a lot of books including the Daredevil 1 and Justice League 1 amongst others! Regarding the resale of Ironman book I can maybe attribute that to a margin call on the markets or perhaps a medical emergency or even a divorce…only the seller knows and doubtful we ever will! Anyway, I always look forward to your KZbin clips! Keep them coming! Thanks!

You were talking about purchasing for covers and I totally agree. Always buy according to the "Rule of Cool", especially Golden Age. I recently bought a copy of Blue Beetle #5 from 1940 and it's arguably the best cover from the entire run. What do you think of that one? #SilverAgeSucker

With golden age being so hot over the the last couple years, at one point do you start getting concerned about over-heating and corrections coming there, similar to what happened with bronze/silver the last few years?

Robert Crumb is a legend in the underground comix world. His work always gets money. There was a documentary on him. Phantom Lady 14 is not a Baker cover. I don't care what cgc says.
