I’m getting real sick of the comic prices these days

@@stormshadowctf for real, I grabbed a variant for Batman 141 today and it was an extra dollar! Not even an incentive one so I didn’t even think to look at the price for it. The only other one available was the digital looking print cover…yuck

So the alternate variant cover has always been a dollar more for the past I want to say 2 years now They charge more because the cardstock is better. The way I look at it is if I buy a couple less of variants then I can still afford books that I want to read. But I totally understand the frustration with prices going up

​@@Comic_Geek2001 At least DC does offer basic cover at $3.99. I would be more frustrated if all their covers are cardstock. I always pick up the basic cover even though there are some cool variant covers, but I'm not paying the extra $1 or $2 or $3 for the foil covers.

Yup, I’ve done that too. Picked up a book I already had because the cover was different and it was sitting with the “new” releases. Your verbal reaction is spot on. lol

That is the problem with the variant cover craze. If you are not up on your reading, it is very easy to pick up a duplicate if it is a different cover. I hate myself when that happens.

What’s up Mike! Nice haul! Quick, fun comic anecdote from today: This guy saw my pull stack at my LCS and on top was the Artgerm Magik variant for Fall of the House of X and said he loved it. I actually asked my LCS to pull 2 copies for me, so I sold him one for 3x the price in the parking lot! And made a new comic book friend. Not bad for a slow day. Happy new year!

What a haul to start the new year! Man, I loved "Alpha Flight" when it first came out. Only wish Byrne loved it more (read that he didn't enjoy doing the book). That "Iron Man #69" is a nice vintage pick-up.

I got 2 Spidey cover as well. The Disney and I don’t remember the other. I am also not going to buy as many variant covers. Except next week when Ultimate Spider-Man. Even though I don’t really care for alternative stories where Peter and MJ are married I need to get as many covers with Pete and MJ. Next week DC is not coming out with a lot of books, Hope ur new year is going well

Did you drop Shazam or you missed picking up? But it is not done by Dan Mora for this issue. The story is not particularly strong for Mark Waid. Waiting for your review of Fall of The House of X. Lucas Werneck's art seems inconsistent in the book. Holding out for $6 book even though I love the Artgerm cover.
