Dude somebody had to absolutely know that those books were there!!! That’s INCREDIBLY MESSED UP.

It's not just the monetary value of the books it's the mental damage that one receives from being robbed. Material objects may or may not be replaceable but trust in your fellow man is much harder to replace. Props for trying to help

Thanks for posting this video - hopefully someone does see something that can help alert the authorities & get these books back to their rightful owners. The topic of collectors insurance would be a great idea for a future video. I've seen referencing to some of the specialty insurance firms, but have never heard of anyone's experience with actually filing a claim. Anyway, thanks again for the community post

Sad that this happened, I heard about another case just like this recently. Keep your comic safe, and don't let anyone into your home that you don't trust.

Good on ya for making this video, Ryan. I’d also point out that this situation underscores one of the best arguments for slabbing the most valuable comics in one’s collection - if you obtain proper insurance coverage, document the existence of the slabbed comics via photos/video and keep a record of the certification numbers, you have a much better chance of proving any losses (from theft, fire, flood, etc.) to your insurance company. And if you’ve never checked the specifics of your homeowner’s or renter’s insurance coverage, see what it says about collectables. If you haven’t specifically obtained coverage for your comics, chances are they’ll be subject to a very minimal amount of protection, like maybe a few hundred dollars maximum. That works for my busted-a** collection but it’s woefully inadequate for a lot of folks.

Thanks for sharing Ryan. I'm going to the Albany NY comic con on Sunday. I'll keep an eye out for any of these books.

Collectors are under attack. If people find out you collect anything that has any value you become a target. I had collections of items I had been collecting since I was very young was stolen from my home a few years ago. I’m 60 now and many items were one of a kind. Collectors insurance is an easy answer for someone who collects only comic or coins but for other collectibles it can be very difficult to access value to thousands of items and one of a kind collectibles. Now I wish I had invested in the stock market.

I love that you made a video about this. I saw the Reddit post today and my heart breaks for her and her son. The more people who are aware of the situation, the better the chances she has at recovering the books. I appreciate you spreading the story!

Suggestion for folks who have high value books such as me. I actually opened a bank lockbox to store my big keys like AF15, ASM1, FF1, XMEN 1 etc. This along with very detailed video of the slabs, including the number on it and have it insured. Just protect yourself.

Sounds like a friend or relative unfortunately. Unless she is advertising her books and address, how would people really know they were there? Usually people who are robbing you, know hat you have to begin with. Sad situation and I hope the POS get brought to justice
