Nice review! I got the Comica as well and have been comparing it to the VideoMicro. Audio quality is super similar - seems like the Comica is more sensitive and picks up more of the deeper lows/bass.
@Marlon_Torres7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ben, I totally agree, the more I've been using the Comica I've noticed that as well. I still like this mic though. Aside from that, what are your thoughts on it?

quick question, do you think the rode mic could fit on the mount of the Comica VM10 II?
@Marlon_Torres7 жыл бұрын
Ha! Good question, funny you asked that was one of the first things I checked and the Rode VideoMicro will not fit in the Comica VM10 II mount. I wish it did!
@ChideeTv7 жыл бұрын
MarlonPTY yeesh, thought it would fit too! haha would you recommend de comica? i have the rode one for ky cannon m6, but i wanted the comica for the slimmer shock mount for my small rig. and im undecided if its worth the change or judt stay with rode
@Marlon_Torres7 жыл бұрын
I think the Comica is a solid choice! I thinks its a bit more sensitive than the Rode though, but if spending the extra money isn't an issue , it wouldn't hurt to have both.
@circuslife8887 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It seems Comica has better noise cancelling feature and more directional sound compared to its Rode counterpart.
@GadgetInspector5 жыл бұрын
Really nice and thorough review. The Comica holds its own, but the Rode still sounds just a bit better to me and doesn't pick up as much background noise.
@Marlon_Torres5 жыл бұрын
Totally agree! The Comica are not a bad option at all and are little bit cheaper too.

I’m curious, but what is the material used for the comica, like the mount is it out of metal or plastic? Same with the mic, is it metal or plastic?
@Marlon_Torres5 жыл бұрын
The mic is made of aluminum and the shock-absorbing stand is plastic and the bottom of that (the part that slides in to the cold shoe mount) is metal. Hope that helps.

Hey, are you using the term windmuff interchangeably with deadcat and wind screen? I’m interested in the black foam sound as it’s more compact. Thanks
@Marlon_Torres6 жыл бұрын
No, windmuff and deadcat are the same (furry ones), the wind screen is the foam. The wind screen is definitely more compact , but won,t help much in windy conditions. Hope that helps.

seems like the comica is noisier, the videomicro is has less noise in quiet room. I'm curious about the comparison to the movo vxr10 which is very quiet, but has worse shock mount then the comica.
@NewbArchitect6 жыл бұрын
The movo is louder so you can turn down preamp resulting in quieter overall. I saw this on dslr shooter... I'm still deciding though...

Will this mic eliminate lens autofocus noise that internal mics tend to pic up?

That really depends on your lens and how loud it is non of my lens are loud enough for this mic to pic the noise up.

What would you recommend for the Sony FDR-X3000? Thanks!!
@outolempinimi51656 жыл бұрын
As far as I know FDR-X3000's mic input is completely f*cked up by Sony's own design flaw (the preamps are way too loud for typical comsumer level electret microphones). Your best bet would be to try some low sensitivity active microphone with -10 dB attenuation, but the traid off is increased noise floor which leaves only the most expensive low noise microphones such as Rode's professional level microphones on the table. In the end it would come more cost effective to get a dedicated audio recorder and sync the audio on post.

Is the version two better than the first one? Does the stand affect its quality?
@Marlon_Torres6 жыл бұрын
No, per Comica it's the same exact mic, but the VM10 II has an improved mount.
@meetmalaya6 жыл бұрын
MarlonPTY does the improved mount affect the vibrations that come in the mic significantly?
@Marlon_Torres6 жыл бұрын
I really couldn't tell the difference, but I personally prefer the VM10 II mount because it is sturdier and stronger. I use the VM10 II all that time, the original sits in my drawer as a back up. Hope that helps.
