My wife and I were dating in late 80's in New Orleans before Def Jam was on T.V. A club had a Comedy Review..Club Whispers..R.Kelly and Public Announcement was The musical group..Bernie Mac was the M.C. the Closure was Teddy Carpenter. This Dude tore a hole in the Club. Was so funny..Truly A Funny and Dynamic Comic. The Comedy Politics has truly kept him from blowing up. He deserves to be heard. If he ever comes to your city.. do yourself a favor and go check him out. He's worth it !!!

@TeddyCarpenter I've always appreciated your comedy even tho I only saw you on Def Jam back then. I was an early teen yet I related cuz you had a certain grit... hood! I wondered what happened to you and hearing your story, it makes sense to me now: people love the Muscle but they don't respect you enough to share the Money! They regard the Muscle as expendable while believing they can buy more muscle with their money. Most people don't understand, the muscle who has your back before you get the bag, the muscle is doing it out of love and not the money! You're blessed regardless and I hope you continue to move forward in life and effect change in the lives of other young brothers like myself💪🏾

A certain level of humility is involved. He doesn't have it. He doesn't know how to tone it down around white folk. They're already scared of us and jealous. He doesn't have the sense to figure it out clearly. That's why he waiting on another grown man to figure it out for him. Having the talent but not the ethics means squat! I hate that Pierre wouldn't let him talk freely. He wanted to shape it to look bad so he could be on the defense. Every time he tried to talk, Pierre would say, "I will ask you that later." Well, if that's something that you guys will talk about, then why does he have to wait for you to shape the question? Pierre black people like me have seen the arms stuff on I Love Lucy. I guess Fat stole it, but Pierre made DC seem like a hating a** place because this comedian was confident and kept to himself. The host seems so MESSY.
@naomim57462 жыл бұрын
He said something that was really profound. It is our responsibility to make sure that black businesses (that store, pharmacy, restaurant) don’t close. In this day and age, where we pay for convenience, it can be real inconvenient to go out of our way to buy black. But it’s our duty to do so.

Teddy's description of the DMV is pretty accurate, in my opinion. When talking about VA needing a street identity, as he knows it. However, he was more from DC and Maryland. In southeast VA, there was never a kingpin, gangster type of culture. There was and still is room for those who want that lifestyle. Trust me nothing sweet for anybody! Play in the 757 or the 804 and find out!

I was listening to Kevin Harts Comedy Gold Mine interview with DL. DL spoke highly of Ted and to be honest I had to Google who he is. I recalled him after the first 5mins of this interview. I think Pierre did a great job of asking the tough or need to know questions even when it appeared difficult. Ted reminds me of a male MoNique (brilliant but doesn't play well with others) everyone has a job where they have to compromise or settle for different reasons but I don't think the cost to be the boss should leave you isolated or even not paid whatcha worth..but if he/she can live that way in peace then so be it...but their limiting their talents for all to experience and not getting paid their worth nc of it
