I hate that Pierre wouldn't let him talk freely. He wanted to shape it to look bad so he could be on the defense. Every time he tried to talk, Pierre would say, "I will ask you that later." Well, if that's something that you guys will talk about, then why does he have to wait for you to shape the question? Pierre black people like me have seen the arms stuff on I Love Lucy. I guess Fat stole it, but Pierre made DC seem like a hating a** place because this comedian was confident and kept to himself. The host seems so MESSY.

He said something that was really profound. It is our responsibility to make sure that black businesses (that store, pharmacy, restaurant) don’t close. In this day and age, where we pay for convenience, it can be real inconvenient to go out of our way to buy black. But it’s our duty to do so.

He is just as authentic in person. I recently met him at the gym not realizing who he is. He gave very respectful regards to my mom when she called while Ted and I were talking about bike riding and catching the train back when you're too tired to ride home. He's a good humble man with character and integrity.

A certain level of humility is involved. He doesn't have it. He doesn't know how to tone it down around white folk. They're already scared of us and jealous. He doesn't have the sense to figure it out clearly. That's why he waiting on another grown man to figure it out for him. Having the talent but not the ethics means squat! He reminds me of P on baby boy. When you gone find me a job type nigga.

Glad to finally hear what happened to him. Def Jam was the vehicle that made a ton of stars. He was one of the 3 funniest, imo, and i always wondered why he never got his turn. Just saw him a couple months ago at a comedy club. Maybe 20 people there (bad promo on the clubs part), but he still killed it like it was at an arena.

What Teddy said is so true. I was a great cheer leader. But No one told me about the politics side of it. I thought well I have the skills. But they sent a pretty popular white girl to tell me and I didn't respond the right way and lost out. Being part of that squad would've changed my life trajectory.

@TeddyCarpenter I've always appreciated your comedy even tho I only saw you on Def Jam back then. I was an early teen yet I related cuz you had a certain grit... hood! I wondered what happened to you and hearing your story, it makes sense to me now: people love the Muscle but they don't respect you enough to share the Money! They regard the Muscle as expendable while believing they can buy more muscle with their money. Most people don't understand, the muscle who has your back before you get the bag, the muscle is doing it out of love and not the money! You're blessed regardless and I hope you continue to move forward in life and effect change in the lives of other young brothers like myself💪🏾

Loved Ted Carpenter on def jam. I remember he said something in one skit and Russell Simmons was in the audience and he said something about getting more money jokingly but not joking. I don’t think Russell took that as funny. I think Ted knew his worth but was too arrogant to play the game. He had the talent but didn’t have the money to back it and the ones with the money and clout were put off by his cockiness. In the entertainment business you have to play the game and go along to get what you want. Ask any comedians that ‘made it’ how much crap that had to go through to get where they are. Wonder if he could go back he would do things differently. Hindsight is 20/20.
