Omg the green lighting in the set! The thumbnail!! It's really really good stuff! Edit: Just finished the video. I love these back issues where they talk about the history around the book more than the book itself. So interesting learning about this run since everyone knows of it but very few have actually read it. Even more interesting learning about what the innerworkings between O'Neil and Adams. Gotta say this one is for sure going into my the list of my favorite Back Issues episodes.

First off, this episode is an instant classic Back Issues. My favorites episodes are ones that allow for Sal to just talk about the history of comics. Great episode guys. Second, I just wanna say that despite all of Neal Adam’s bs he tends to become involved in over who created what, he is one of the nicest creators I’ve ever met. He’s always quick to shake my hand and spend a little time talking with me about his work.

I love we get to find out other thing about related stories. Sal, you and the gang are just so damn awesome and good peeps. There are times we're we can see how much you truly love this stuff. Because we are the same way. I try to tell someone about a story and I will cry at parts and I know that they are like, Dude... he's crying talking bout how Wolverine comes back from the brink to grab Jean who has been sucked out of the Blackbird... (it has been years since I read that but I think it was the B.B. they were in.) But thank you. It's amazing you guys are the best. So just know, not only do you entertain, you help some of us too.

The thing is, in the run previous to this story, Hal Jordan actually was supporting a left wing protest before this. Id argue just as Kurt Busiek did that Hal is a classic liberal vs Ollie who is a more radical liberal and that despite being a thinking, adaptable instinctive, fly by the seat of your pants type of hero who rebels and freely does things his way, they turned him into a unthinking hero who always follows orders, despite the contrary. Hal is more like a space sheriff then a cop. Its like O'Neill took the stuff that Broome and Fox established for Hal Jordan and just made him a punching bag for Ollie. Its not a bad social commentary comic because it addresses the issues, its just to me comes off as very preachy and one sided to suit the narrative. It took Waid, Johns and New Frontier to fix the damages to Hal Jordan in this book onward because Hal becomes miserable and filled with self doubts and lacks confidence, tbh I think this series is part of why they decided to kill Hall off. While I admire the art and commentary, I much prefer Waid's Brave and the Bold.
@thedukeofchutney4682 жыл бұрын
Classical Liberal and Conservative are decently similar in many areas and are certainly closer than progressive and classical liberal. Either way, I find it kinda funny that despite being written by a leftie progressive, the classical liberal/conservative stand in Hal comes off as far more caring, rational, and human than the Progressive/far left Ollie. 😂
@Ashguy7332 жыл бұрын
@@thedukeofchutney468 Maybe classic liberal is the wrong word. Like I feel Ollie wants to tear the system down, while Hal kinda reminds me of a liberal that wants to fix the system from the inside rather then just wipe the slate clean. Yeah see I find Hal more likable in this then Ollie.
@thedukeofchutney4682 жыл бұрын
@@Ashguy733 True, that being said, I’d say the way you described Hal he could still be described as a conservative/classical liberal. As they often act almost exactly how you describe. Either way I we can both agree that Ollie is a nutcase.

Classic. I am glad they brought back how Roy deals with his struggles a few years back. Unfortunately just as his character was getting some real development, they gave him the axe..... it seemed that at the time someone at DC really didn't like the Titans in general and wanted them all gone or to just leave them in the background. Kind of sad, because it felt like they were just starting to really come into their own.

Like compared to where Wonder Woman was before the arc and after the arc, she had a bit of a real supporting cast that wasn't just her mother and her boyfriend, she had a recurring villain that wasn't just random aliens or Angle man, I-Ching becomes a surprisingly good character, and some of the stories were pretty fun.
