Actually, I like the idea of a Spider-Man Red, like it is just the memories running through Peter and Mary Janes head while they hold each other for One More Day. Courting, dancing, vacations, cute suprises, some writers and artists could make that an amazing wordless issue, maybe with the last page Mephisto cackling as Peter and MJ walk away from each other. If it was done well it would tear my heart apart, and I would buy the hell out of it!

Ironic how even after her death Gwen has a legacy that continues to last through the ages. Even with something as horrible as Sins Past, people still remember her from that era and celebrate her, despite never being resurrected in the main timeline. If anything, her death immortalized her in ways that very few could achieve.

Agreed, am sick of this idea that if a death is undone it automatically means all the stakes and development is gone. While yes many of the times when that happens in the comics it does cheapen the story, what people fail to notice is that sometimes bringing a dead character back could bring back as much demension and development to the character as much as it does killing them off.

My favorite way they deal with the Peter/Gwen/MJ thing was in Universe X. Where Peter gets to make his own illusion universe, and he's married to Gwen and MJ marries Harry. The idea being that not that Peter doesn't love MJ, it's that he will always feel responsible for killing Gwen (since his webbings technically snapped her neck). And MJ (he feels) deserves better than him because of that.

Sal, just wondering, but have you seen the animated film Batman: Under the Red Hood? I have the same issues with the comics that you do, but I thought the film was fantastic. I thought they fixed a lot of the issues with the comics, and I liked how they illustrated it more as Batman's greatest failure coming back to haunt him. Like, what's worse than Batman failing to save Jason Todd? It's Jason Todd returning as everything Batman stands against. But he's not a one dimensional villain or anti hero in the film, Jason sees himself as a better Batman. He believes that crime can't be stopped, you have to control it. That's what I like about Jason in the film, he has point. It goes deeper than just the argument as to why Batman should or should not kill. Anyway, great show, and I'd love to here your thoughts (btw, hoping for a back issues of Batman: Endgame sometime soon :D)

I always find myself coming back to this episode of Back Issues. Spider-Man Blue is my favorite Spider-Man story of all time, and while I've reread it many times, I always do it with a bit of melancholy. It is only when I see Sal explain it so masterfully that I am reminded of how fun this book can be as well. Happy Valentines to everyone feeling a little bit blue.

It's like Stan Lee created The Devil as a sleazy game show host who makes deals with superheroes that may or may not benefit him personally like he did several times with The Silver Surfer and Daredevil! I don't even count his appearance in that "Infinity Gauntlet" storyline because there he's nothing more than Thanos' cheerleader/Salieri-wannabe who's "waiting for his chance" and blows it! I guess that's what happens when you create a plot device that's suppose to be all-powerful but really isn't.

Gwen's death pretty much marred him for love. He and Gwen were on a course to marriage, when she died it ripped apart his first really meaningful romance and it also kind of ended his more innocent years (the college years had the best conflict while Peter could still have untarnished happiness). He can love Mary Jane too but the fact that Gwen's death happened will always be the reason he ended up with MJ. (In the comics that is) If Gwen never died Mary Jane may never have been more willing to share her vulnerability with Peter, if you look at how she was prior to Gwen dying Peter didn't really like or care for Mary Jane much.

I can't stop thinking about how much I like the concept they briefly stumbled on and barely touched upon where _Kraven The Hunter_ gets his moniker and/or status, not only as a Supervillain in general, but especially as _"The Hunter"_ by- sure, being a real life Big Game and Sports Hunter... But mainly by coming on to the scene and first taking on all of the main Animal Themed Spider-Villains. Taking down/besting, _Rhino, Scorpion, Vulture, Lizard, and Doctor Octopus..._ saving Spider-Man himself as the big Final Game/Main Event- of course, losing... But having his Legend grow and gaining the title of _"The Hunter"_ because he DID, after all, defeat most of Spider-man's more powerful Rogues. It's REALLY cool for _Kraven_ and would help make him cool(a rarity for Kraven) in a VERY light Retcon of his first battles with Spidey, and at the same time would show how badass Peter is as he ultimately beat him... I don't know. The idea is kinda blowing my mind.
