Y’know the picture they used in the background ? It caused controversy because some Chinese Loyalists are butthurt about it seemingly supporting Hong Kong protestors. Frank Miller said he was happy that the image was adopted by protestors saying that “people want something to be inspired by, and people are fighting for their freedom” and “there are political entities out there so afraid of expression that they’re afraid of a picture... They’re going to collapse anyway.” Regardless of what Frank wrote in the past, its good to know that someone supports them.

Jokerboys sounds like a proudboys dig to me. I think part of this is Frank dislikes the current political atmospher and the repetitive, reactionary vicious circle being perpetuated. I think another reason is to downplay Holy Terror, as that's something he's still slammed for like 15 years later, so some Anti-Trumping helps balance out that bile and he doesn't like him so it works out. Most of all, this Dragonball Z esque fever dream is something you've really sold me on buying and as I now know it's a one-shot, I'll be looking for a copy. I am surprised there was no mention of DC censoring that cover image of Carrie with the molitov cocktail, to appease the Chinese government who were taking it as being supportive of protesters, as that seems a pretty notable bit of news around the book

That hasn’t been a thing for a long time. It was really only brought up a couple times. Some writers have tried to explain that the one true Darkseid is so evil that the evilness spreads and forms lesser Darkseids in each universe.

When I first got to the end of this book I was like, "huh". Then I read it again straight away and liked it. I think Miller doing a short, one shot story with something he really wanted to say came out more focused than his last few works. Plus, Grampa's art is amazing as always.

It seems like it. That or Frank is making a meta commentary on how a lot of so-called “legacy” aka SJW superheroes of the mid to late 2010’s are basically dipshits who didn’t earn the capes they’re wearing like a majority of All-New All-Different Marvel Heroes and being arbitrarily given the names of pre-existing heroes(I.e Riri Williams under Bendis’ pen) by editorials while acting anything but heroic in their stories aka being Civil War II Captain Marvel and pointing their noses down at what came before them. Meanwhile ones like Jon Kent deserves to carry the torch because he and others of his ilk have earned it through the efforts of writers and we’ve seen them prove themselves as real heroes in their own right while having reverence for the past the way post-Golden Age fans have a love for the Justice Society of America team. Arguing that Jon’s generation are the more worthy successors than the generation before him and how the millennials are basically bratty social media obsessed children. Sort of like Frank Miller’s own Doomsday Clock comment on the comic industry. I think that’s what he’s trying to imply here but it’s Frank Miller, so it could really be anything.

I once heard someone describe Frank Millar's political view's as unabashedly loving his country and unabashedly hating all politicians. One interpretation I heard of this is that Millar is just taking the crap out of everything. When I first started watching this episode I was like " I'm going to buy this book" . But then as it progressed I realized this issue is just crazy and all over the place. I'm starting to think that since Frank is getting older he's starting to not care so much about his writing continuity and just goes for broke doing shit. The artwork is fantastic!! Frank is bringing in these fantastic artists/writers who still desire to work with him it doesn't really matter what he writes as long as $ is made, and new artist/new writers get press. I do love the symbolism and the metaphors that are used reg. Gov. No surprise given how Frank has always been opinionated when it comes to these things.
