While I agree that Identity Crisis deserves to be on this list, I can't agree with it being number one. It had its problems in regards to dealing with subject matter such as rape and murder, it had its problems regarding being properly portrayed as a mystery, and many others. But it was not worse than Amazons Attack or Countdown.

And it recasts absolutely everything we've seen about Sue and Ralph Dibny in the light of her being raped, making them seem like they were both completely unaffected by it. Even if her memory of the event was wiped, we don't see how learning about it (and its subsequent memory-wipe) might affect her, because she's killed off. It's a clumsy retcon on top of being a cheap bit of outrage.

You know I agree with everything on this list but two more should be added. I swear Zero Hour did nothing good because if it did I'd remember it , but my number one would be Flashpoint. Flashpoint destroyed a whole multiverse as we knew it, and did the most damage that dc is still recovering from, horrible costumes, zero continuity, complete loss of legacy characters and ruined origins (Wonder Woman) were deal breakers for many, including myself, watching a whole universe go back to the 90's and even do it worse the second time around made me question the very fabric of my reality, like maybe I did something that caused this infinity time/space continuity that could maybe be fixed but I'm hoping this next one will do the trick, and hopefully legacy and continuity will return, for good this time.

No, I have to agree with you. Identity Crisis was pretty bad and that's a shame because it had some fantastic plotlines that could have been properly fleshed out into likely, the most amazing story ever. The question of, "How do you continue your life as a superhero while maintaining/protecting your friends/family" is a subject never really brought up much. The other question of "what if someone had mind-wiped the JLA for their own interests?" is another. Unfortunately, the storyline's ending was abrupt and likely either an idea found in their "Idea bin" or a total lazy cop-out to avoid actually hurting any fanboy feelings. Such a shame.

Yeah, Identity Crisis was/is complete trash. Never understood how anyone could really like it and the fact that they've gone so far as to re-release the comic for a ten year anniversary edition baffles me even more. It attempts to destroy classic, heroic characters to make its plot work and furthermore the mystery its based around, just like Batman Hush, also doesn't work (Though for different reasons than Hush) from a writing standpoint. This is easily one of the worst offenders of doing something dark to try to make a story more mature and edgy

Not a bad list but I think the 2001 is a worse event than Bloodlines. Bloodlines just had a bunch of forgettable characters and spun out Hitman. 2001 ruined Hawk & Dove because at the last minute editorial decided to pull a switch when it turned out that readers were smart enough to figure out the end. Also 2001 spawned a lot of other unsatisfactory events like Countdown and Zero Hour.

What r u on about identity crisis is great. Idk y u don't like it it's my favourite Dc event even though there's literally no consciousnesses at all to it. It treats the characters pretty well tbh like Deathstroke and dr light r at there very best as Characters, it treats green arrow exactly right, it actually does something with Ralph dibbnys character, it is full of cleaver plot twists like the reveal of the actual killer and what happened to batman,Wally West is also at his best in it plus it shows that even great heroes like Barry Allen had flaws. Also each decision made by any character in the book is the complete opposite of out of character even though he says I'm the video they r out of character decisions. An example of this is Ray palmers ex wife's character motivation and Barry allens choice to wipe dr lights mind. (Barr did this cuz his wife was just murdererd by reverse flash so he would be inclined to stop anyone else's family from getting hurt by super villains like dr light did to sue therefore it is some way obvious and not at all out of character that he'd choose to while his mind)
