It's funny, the continuity of Heroes Reborn was what brought me into comics in the first place. In the UK we get these comic paperbacks that merge issues together, and when I was a kid they were doing the Heroes Reborn stuff. Same with the Ben Reilly as Spiderman stuff.

+bassbaine Age of Ultron was awful, but I loved Rage of Ultron. Honestly though, I think that Joss Whedon missed a cool opportunity to do some time travel shenanigans with Age of Ultron to make Ultron a more universal and terrifying villain, instead of having to tell a villain origin over again.

Agreed, Fear Itself was a really fun series...if you stuck to some core books. I certainly didn't read all 147 comics. Now Secret Invasion, NOW that was a disappointing! Secret Invasion and One More Day both definitely belong on this list.

Well technically half of Heroes Reborn lived up to it's potential. The FF and Iron Man books were the first time I ever even liked those characters, as you expect from Jim Lee. The other two.. were classic Liefeld in hindsight. I'd swap out Heroes Reborn for Age of Ultron, what a mess that book was.

Surprisingly it was my first real contact with the Avengers. I read about them a little in FF and Xmen which I read fairly regularly (especially during the Onslaught x-over), but wasn't that familiar with them. So I thought Heroes Reborn would be the perfect jumping on point. Then Busiek's run started and I suddenly wanted to read every Avengers book I could get my hands on. Until Quesada came on and ruined them.

I'm not saying they were good stories that don't deserve to be on a "worst of" list somewhere, but The Clone Saga and Heroes Reborn weren't "events" - they were just the status quo/long-form storylines the characters were involved in at the time. "Events" are the big summer crossover storylines. I'd probably replace them on this list with Age of Ultron and.... eh, I'm blanking on a fifth right now. Instinct says Axis, but that was more a case of the audience just not CARING rather than it being terrible. Happy to see some hate for Fear Itself, though. It truly was awful - a clip-show main book that was SO overburdened with tie-ins that it forced completists had to step back, examine what they were buying, and consequently buy much, much less. It's resulted in massively scaled back levels of tie-ins in all subsequent crossovers, confiding most tie-ins to existing books instead of the storm of minis and one-shots Fear Itself took to new levels. Fear Itself was SO BAD, it literally BROKE how crossover events were done.

The Ultimate Universe refusing to defer to either Bendis or Millar was a definite problem. Both writers ignored the other person's writing if they chose to. Mainly Bendis ignored Millar's writing. Black Widow is introduced in Bendis Marvel Team-Up, then millar introduces her again as a completely different character in The Ultimates. Ultimate Hawkeye is one character, then Bendis writes him in Ultimate Spider-Man as being his regular 616 version. It got out of hand.

Notable mention for Spider-Man: One More Day - this undid everything Peter had done in Civil War. It was a lazy excuse to put back Spider Man to where he was before CW rather than coming up with new and creative ideas for the hero to move foreward.

+DethroneME Yeah, the excuse Marvel used was that having Peter single allowed for different storylines, but that was completely unnecessary because Spidey with no secret identity made things completely different all by itself. Not to mention that if Quesada really wanted Peter to be single, he should've had the balls to do a divorce storyline. Apparently that would set a bad example for readers, but having the hero make a literal deal with the devil was fine.

Not sure if you can count One More Day as a Marvel event but it was god awful. I'm also in the minority that hated Civil War. And while it's still in progress, I'm really getting sick of Secret Wars(2015) and the way that Marvel has managed it with all the delays and pointless tie-ins, I feel it will go down as one of the most hated Marvel events.

+Eric Bradach One More Day wouldn't count as an event, it's just not long enough to qualify. But it's so awful that it has just as much impact as a bad event would. That was seriously the point where I gave up on reading Marvel and started just watching the movies. Gave up on DC as well shortly afterward, thanks to the garbage that was Countdown. 2007 was a really awful year for comic books.

The only bits I liked in it were the MODOK parts and a few of the Old Man Logan ones. To be fair, I also hated the 'Convergence' run as well, but it was way shorter. I just kind of got burnt out on it really quickly. The new rebooted run of Marvel has actually been incredibly solid. I've enjoyed almost every title so far,

I like Civil Ar. Maybe even love it. But I won't pretend it's not overrated, and people who hate it aren't totally right to do so. Totally made Tony Hitler, and I don't just throw the Adolf card willy nilly. And it was framed in a way that totally makes "who's side are you on" the easiest choice ever, because it didn't do enough to make Tony's side all that approachable, when you consider what his plan would mean for other heroes. The choice between sides should've been much harder,.

+Captain Marvelous From what i've seen (And i'm not a fan of the event) Civil War typically avoids lists like these because whether you like it or hate it you can't argue that it wasn't one of the most influential events Marvel's put out in the past decade. Sales were good, it impacted the fanbase and got them involved, while the characters in the comics were impacted by it as well. It pretty much set the tone for the Marvel Universe afterwards. In comparison, Fear Itself was quickly forgotten. Same with Heroes Reborn, which is really treated as an old embarassment by this point. The Clone Saga is then just infamous for how terribly managed it was.

I actually liked Ultimatum. I read all of the stuff like a year ago cuz I found it pretty cheap. All of the deaths had a very "Game of Thrones" level of uncertainty to it. But hey, that's probably just me. I can definitely see why others didn't like it though

Marvel Vs DC/DC Vs Marvel was a four issue mini-series (the Amalgam comics were entirely optional ), and it was an event.
