Rob, i wanted to tell you thanks again. It's not just the covering of comics that a lot of us enjoy, it's your enthusiasm. You get so excited to share these stories that it's infectious. No matter how bad a day i might be having or have had, we can always go to your library and get swept away in am amazing story behind your by a person that is so enthralled by the story, that is hard not to get sucked in fully. Long story short(to late) , I'm sure I'm not alone when i say i really appreciate what you do but now so how you do it. Thanks again

I like the angle this story takes of a deconstruction of the deconstruction of the super hero. I kinda agree with nightwing. Batman's very existence creates problems, but he's a net positive. Criminals are gonna crime, with or without him.
@viderevero13382 жыл бұрын
But then you have the critique of Gordon in the classic Batman movies with heath ledger. Where Batman’s technology and efficiency only makes Criminals stronger and evolve more. Honestly it’s a similar situation to the real world Mexico, and the whole cartel fiasco. And just like in Mexico, Gotham needs a better infrastructure, then a superhero. Because like you said criminals will just keep coming ad infidium. Gotham is just a really crappy place.
@AManChoosesASlaveObeys2 жыл бұрын
@@viderevero1338 And don't you think better infrastructure will come with a lot of losses as well? I mean, think of corruption. Inflation. Shady businesses. There's no Batman, no one to 'bat' an eye on White and Blue Collar crimes. People will be struggling as far as they can, just not in the nose of everyone. You can't just walk into Africa, give a supply of clear water for life, go away and expect nobody to take advantage of it.

That’s not true though, like they said, most crime comes from desperation and destitution. If you give people the material means the need to survive, crime goes way down. You don’t need a vigilante just reacting to crime, you have to stop it from the root by giving people what they need
@Watch-0w12 жыл бұрын
Batman specialty alone was never the answer. It is a child fantasy to think that crime will go down by just beating up a few criminal at night time. If there is a way to make quick money it, there would be crime. And in poor condition and poverty, desperation would encourage more criminal seeking salvation through crime. Solution was to cure poverty to reduce crime rate and what remind to react upon them. Narcotic, ivory ,painting ,ect. As long they a demand for it , and they law reduce it supplied . There would be money, supplied and demand. People life be damn.

Both this comic and the art is really good I like it. But I want to push back against this comic a little bit, at least in the way they say Batman has irrevocably made Gotham worse. As it is shown that in most continuities that crime actually does take a dramatic dive once Bruce becomes Batman. And for the super criminals most of them don't have any real linkage to Batman before they started doing their villainy. As it's commonly most of them were already acting on they're darker impulses before Batman came around.

I’m glad Rob gave props to the Night Gwen Stacey Died being a starting point for comics going into darker storytelling. Everyone’s always points to TDKR as the starting point but while it definitely made the themes more mainstream and arguably gave rise to the ultra violence of the 90s wave of comics it wasn’t the start of more adult stories in western comics. For me TNGSD was the starting point TDKR was the tipping point and without TNGSD we would not have had TDKR.

While the message is something most people can agree with, reality proves this would never work. Someone would come along and funnel that Money into something else. People will find a way to take advantage of it and get more then they should. Corruption comes forth when Good People just believe others are just as good as them, just as Bruce did in this Story. By giving away his Fortune to just let others be in charge of it he is just doing what he did before and shucking that responsibility on to someone else. Thing is this time he can say 'Hey its not my Money anymore at least'. He isnt changing anything, hes just running away from the problem and his responsibility in letting it happen.

Bro let Batman catch a break will ya? He is trying his best and people keep bashing him whatever he does. Also i would like to point out that employees under Wayne enterprises will suffer like hell. Both the HQ and subsidiaries around the world because they would all loose their jobs and die of poverty even with being recompensed
@nobalkain6248 ай бұрын
@@Rengokuo4o6 That even more of a reason why this idea sucks. I am all for Bruce doing what he does and being in charge of how he uses his Money to try and Help. This idea of making Batman Broke so he is no longer a "Rich White Man" is just dumb. They pulled the same crap in the Mainline Book now.
@Rengokuo4o68 ай бұрын
@@nobalkain624 Agreed. Everytime Batman does something it is always deconstructed to make him look bad. The message for this comic was so dumb but i felt really bad for Bruce because he was gaslighted by everyone including Nightwing his own son into thinking he is contributing to the crime rates in gotham. The idea that throwing money at charity events and at the police would fix the crime rate in gotham instead of the cash being stolen by corrupt personnel is the worst thing I've ever heard. Currently Bruce is suffering from mental illness, his stuck in prison with the Joker of all people, the argument that a robot is a better Batman than him is being made in the comic, and he is poor and has lost Alfred his father figure. I don't know what Bruce did to deserve all this. I guess this is fair since everybody thinks he's a mary sue.
