Nice throw-back. I remember reading Tower of Babel as it came out, and it just blew my mind to see the entire League get neutralized so quickly. And when the "why" was revealed, I was like "Of course it was him. That's how he rolls. And I would have voted to keep him in, because I believe he was right. He was in a lose/lose situation, but he did what he had to do.

The Tower of Babel storyline is one of the best comics that show Batman is the most dangerous DC hero ever. Watch Justice League: Doom animated movie, best line delivery by Kevin Conroy ever in that film. "My actions don't require any defense. In the same situation, I'd do it again. Rob, the left side of the refrigerator is still the refrigerator. The freezer is on the left side of the refrigerator, but it is a separate device. If you want to make fun of characters, could you step it up and be smart about it? Otherwise you just sound like a schoolyard kid saying “your hero is dumb, mine is way more stronger” I mean for real, most modern refrigerator designs have the freezer device attached at the bottom of the unit. Walk into any restaurant and the refrigerator won’t even have a freezer attached. It’s a separate device.

Chemistry major here, and yeah, you pretty much got it. Mg can burn underwater, and the hydrogen released can burn in the air. Side note, I am switching majors to materials engineering next year. William Stryker inspired me.. haha. Carbyne bundle filled carbon nanotubes are a real-life close match for adamantium, in terms of tensile strength at least. Batman's cape in The Dark Knight even showcased some metamaterials, that actually exist. Rediculus as they often seem, comics often do inspire actual science. So, thanks, Rob, for making that inspiration all the more convenient.

The way I see it, it only makes sense that Batman has contingency plans for each member of the JLA, nevermind every existing DC superhero and even the other ones he came across. Heck, Superman should be the most understanding of the bunch on the simple fact that he knows what different kinds of kryptonite does to him and other kryptonians : it changes them, either physically or mentally and often, with disastrous results. It's not because he doesn't trust them that he has contingency plans, it is because he knows outside forces can and will make them do things against their will or that should any of them, for some reason, turns coat, they need to be able to stop them. And they never pondered either if Batman had contingencies for himself and while he might've made sure he doesn't *know* if he does, he'd be likely to suspect he did set up some and made it a point he couldn't remember that he did so he couldn't disable them himself. Hence Failsafe. Hence Zur'En'Arr, Hence the Batfamily and, by extension, the JLA itself.

Magnesium under normal circumstance is not pyrophoric. That is it does not spontaneously combust when exposed to air. Though if finally grind can. Magnesium parts are sometime used when there is need for a very light metal and while I am sure a lot of those parts are also treated to be more weather resistant, the fact that people are willing to use magnesium is a pretty good indicator that it is not that much of a fire hazard. Magnesium like other alkaline earth metals will react to water, however. Even if the reaction is not so extreme as with other alkaline earth metals. So yes... the science seem a bit off.

You know, I don't read many comics nowadays which is why I watch your videos but I remember this event as clear as day. I thought it was stupid for them to be mad at Batman and thought it was just a logical thing to do on his or anyones part. At the time this event even spilled over into Young Justice, I remember Superboy making a snarky comment towards Robin implying the team shouldn't trust him.
