My hot take is that Jason just fundamentally does not work as a villain. I know trauma changes people and stuff but Jason does some really heinous stuff as a villain and no amount of trauma can make someone who was once so compassionate talk about using children as fodder in a gang war lol. It just isn’t believable, he works better as an anti-hero

I love how he didn't just bash Jason, but took time to point out Talia and Starfire's bad characterization.

How to fix Red Hood is to have him constantly battle with wanting to be good but finding himself falling back on it being easier to go the lethal route. I think it works best when he alternates between being paired with the rest of the bat family and a couple of solo adventures like the outlaw era. The bonds of brotherhood with his fellow Robin's and batgirl help keep him on the straight and narrow but when he's on his own can he keep walking that line? It would also be good to introduce a dark mirror for him. Someone that represents that villain era Red Hood that he can measure his growth against but also tempt him to fall back on his old ways.

Red Hood killing his enemies is what makes him unique, especially in DC and as a member of Batman's world. Having him travel around the world solo tracking down criminals and killing them could lead to really fun and interesting stories, occasionally crossing paths with other heroes who are too keen on his methods leading to confrontations that could impact both characters. Having him put down the guns and hang out with the bat fam just doesn't sit right with me, especially if joker is still around wreaking havoc.

i swear they made red hood 'kill' penguin for the same reason nightwing got shot.. So batman becomes even more down and moody when catwoman ditches batman at the wedding

DC is too scared to make a Punisher like antihero. They would rather keep Red Hood in limbo, than commit to a lethal protagonist. I imagine him to be a saner version of The Punisher and having a rivalry with Nightwing. The rivalry would be similar to the one between Daredevil and The Punisher, but without as much animosity.

He should be recognised by DC and James Gunn more.Hope he has plans with him and possibly to see him in Brave and Bold.

Red Hood should just be DC’s version of Punisher at this point. Separate him from the Bat family for a time.

I don't think the title is supposed to be "red hood fuckery" but I love it.

I honestly feel like missed a real good opportunity to have Jason as another big brother figure for Damian to show what a potentially killer Robin looked like. It would have been a good means to redeem Jason and play off him having a sort of soft spot for him seeing the aggression in the kid. But they never really went that route.

Considering Jason Todd grew up on the streets before becoming Robin, kinda make sense that he would be a bit more cut-throat compared to Dick, who was raised by his family before the incident and meeting Bruce.

If we were to introduce Jason into the movies, we can tie him into Damien by saying that after Jason was revived and still with the league of assassins, he was in charge of training Damien in order to get a better understanding of the bat family. Then you can have him hunt Damien down when he chooses Batman over the league

I think the problem is personal some writers don’t really know how to handle all these bat kids. All these problems with red hood are also there with Tim and Damian they don’t know or aren’t sure what to do. That’s why Tim’s changed names 5 different times and Damian keeps being reset too having trouble not killing when it’s something he already learned not to do or at least not everyone deserves to get 🔪 with Bruce and dick when he was Batman

Talking about Artemis being the odd one out of the Dark Trinity. Don't forget that she did take over for Diana and became Wonder Woman in the 90s and was considered to be a more violent version. So that's probably why they included her as part of the Dark Trinity

The issue I have with Jason despite him being my favorite bat family member is exactly this. They never know what to do with him and end up going back on really good amazing plot points for some reason. Like, him giving up the guns was an amazing step for his character who'd spent so long in his anger trying to kill criminals because he thought it was the only solution given his death and Talia's manipulations. But than Task Force Z happens, and now he's chasing the Joker across the everywhere with guns again too and it's just really weird to me that they can't for some reason take the time to integrate him into the actual batfamily again and do things with his siblings and reconnect with alfred and such.

Red Hood could be a deep character for DC. He is the ultimate symbol for “the ends justify the means”. I could see him becoming a Punisher type character but Red Hood lacks that inner struggle that makes Punisher easier to make stories for. DC has never really explored Jason’s upbringing. They just gave us a couple stories here and there and that’s it. The problem with Red Hood is that he isn’t a deep character. He literally just popped back up on the scene and that was that. Red Hood theme of doing bad things to do good things could be something that fans could get very interested in and provide DC a way to flesh him out. That’s why the Red Hood Dark Trinity worked.
