One thing i can see from you, which i like is, you're focusing more on become athletic and more of a footballer, before you were doing a lot of heavy weighted stuff only, you like leaner, more mobile and just fitter all round and with the hard work you're putting in, i can see getting a pro contract again real soon🔥🔥🔥

Holy shit dude. I think I saw you in Irvine. I was the one other dude playing soccer at the park with my shirt off. I thought about saying something but I wasn’t sure if it was you or not. You’ve been a real inspiration to me. I’ve only ever played soccer recreationally and at a D5 high school where you made the varsity team if you showed up. I’ve been starting to practice up to try and make Irvine’s team. I just started learning how to shoot a ball and send the ball without it curving off your videos. What a small world.

Great video👍 just a question Matt but you never really squat heavy or deadlift anymore is that because you don’t wanna get injured again or...?
@Alex7226 жыл бұрын
Although he could easily squat and deadlift heavy and ramp up the numbers session after session, it's not needed in his sport and often it is not recommended. He is a footballer not a bodybuilder. He can go heavy in these exercises if he wants it but rarely and also this thing needs really good scheduling, you don't want sore legs in matches or team trainings...

How are you able to go for a footballing session straight after a fiery John Terry routine? Isn't it bad for the body? Also how do you mix in the football match days (the ones where you have to travel 3 hours). I want to know how do you schedule in gym+intense cardio+ football sessions+matches training in a week.
@Seiiichiproductions6 жыл бұрын
akash saxena Nah man if you are well prepared it’s all good to do another session after an interval training like JT routine. It’s obviously tiring but as soon as you get your hr into normal level you can do all the light stuff like technique and maybe even some light lifting.

Hey Matt, how do you avoid lactic acid buildup during your 202nd rest? I tried to work out doing a 45 seconds sprint with 15 second rest but at 10% incline and 8 mph, in the lactic bill that was killing me so I did less reps but didn’t stop and instead slow down to a 5 mph jog as my “rest “… Any advice would help

Its all mental, i play as a winger and my coach when i was 15 always used to tell my team its about winning your individual battles, so winning your battle vs the lb/rb in my instance consists of a physical and a mental one. physical - are you stronger/quicker than your opposite number? Mental - are you braver in your 50/50s ? Do you read the game better? etc. Starting the match, dribble at your opposite number to have the mental upper hand, be stronger in your 50/50 challenges whether it be aerial or not. Confidence is key, winning those small battles early will allow to play your own game and enjoy it. Sorry for wall of text and have fun 👍

How many times a week do u do the John terry work out
@Seiiichiproductions6 жыл бұрын
WOLF HUNTER69 Idk how many times Matt does it but I would recommend 2, maximum 3 times a week, if you have trainings at the club. If you just train by yourself you can maybe do this more, but I myself found it effective while doing this 1-2 times a week. 3 was unnecessary, like it’s not THAT important and you can do something else instead.

@ryannejadian97956 жыл бұрын

Doing yoga based stretches is also a good idea, at the gym they also have useful equipment such as firm rollers and resistance bands to help prevent injuries. My younger brother is also 13 and i sometimes take him to the gym with me and just encourage him to do body weighted exercises as he is growing quite rapidly and i don't want heavy weights to have a negative effect on his growth.
@ds2k156 жыл бұрын

@AJdada8156 жыл бұрын
ds2k15 i went hard around that age with weights and stopped very quickly when I ended up with osgood schlatters. My left knee was messed up and still haven’t fully recovered from it at 19. It not guaranteed to happens to everyone obviously but it’s a possibility.I’m currently 6’2 but I was really short before anyways I’m speaking from my experience, not what I read on the internet. U can search urself what osgood Schlatter is, as it is in fact quite a common thing for young teens. just that mine lasted longer because of how much pressure I added to my knees by going hard every week in gym. In youth academies they also do a lot of body weighted exercises and when it comes to lifting they stick to very light weighted plates. There is a reason why well experienced coaches and trainers don’t just get young teens to do heavy weights. My personal opinion is 15+ for heavy weights but at any age u can go to the gym and do light weights or body weighted exercises. Although it would be good though to hear from Matts option because of his experience.
