Kudos to the cameramen for risking their lives to document these scenarios.

Woow , I’m still intrigued over the fact that her grandmother’s last words were “don’t let her become a nun”

I felt so sad for these girls and the culture they live in. I wish them the best of luck.

Are you seriously more fortunate or happier to live and die in a sensual world, while they live & die in spiritual surroundings? Many in the sensual world have left a household life for a spiritual path & are contented.

@@MustAfaalikI would like to believe these young ladies didn’t feel they had to accept what was told to them that they had a chance to make important decisions in their lives.
@MustAfaalik6 ай бұрын
@@tamalpias What ladies? One had a spiritual yearning to be a Nun. That was her decision. The other was 22 y.o. and only anxiety was to have a good husband. Same culture that does not require much to be contented. Certainly a culture that westerners would find uncomfortable and alien to their sensual & materialistic world or perhaps their religious ideology.

@@MustAfaalik if you watch the entire clip she had a lover but couldn’t be with him hence she chose the monastic life. If given a choice I think she would had chosen her first lover.
@MustAfaalik6 ай бұрын
@@tamalpias She did meet up with her first love after his marriage & told him her desire to be a nun and his respond was "are you sure". If you believe in Kamma, it would be easier to understand that some people are more inclined towards the spiritual life as a result of their past spiritual cultivation. Suffering is universal and being born in a Buddhist culture only make it easier to understand the characteristics of samsara (world) & the way to go beyond it. May you & family be well & happy.🙏

I only watched 20 mins in, but yet all I hear is the narrator stating over and over again that how the girls can be "free" if they become nun, what if they wish to find someone they love and get married and have children? Isn't that a more wholesome and fulfilling live for them.

One does not become a Nun in Tibet without first becoming a student of a Lama while attending retreats for years. The Lama will then recommend you for ordination if he considers you ready for full ordination. That's how it works for Tibetan Buddhism. This doco has jumped the procedure.
