By monster I am referring to their size. I still don't suggest this for 99.9% of folks. Most folks struggle to raise and train their Labrador. Add an extra 100lbs and serious protective instincts it gets very.... interesting 🤔 But it's a free country 🇺🇲 so get whatever you want just get it properly trained and socialized and then learn how to ride it like a polar bear 🐻❄️
@LadyEleven. Жыл бұрын
Totally agree! I have Staffords and pitbull mixes as well as a pure XL Bully here in the UK 🇬🇧 first weigh in at over 10 weeks and he was almost 14 lbs and fully stacked wide. The vet was shocked at how well stacked wide my XL Bully was, as well as how calm he was and unbothered by his surroundings This breed has knuckles 😮he's already outgrown 2 collars and burst through another. Yet his training and socialisation beats that of many smaller dogs, including my Chorkie which is the size of a Jack Russell with the heart of a lion. I've got neighbours that can't even control their small dogs yet complain about other larger breeds 🙈 I've always believed that it's the deed rather than the breed. Almost 20 years later and I've yet to be proven wrong 😊 these so called "devil dogs" in the UK are mostly called so because of the thug like youths who know absolutely nothing about caring for and training them 🙈 rather get them to appear tough, they are attacking and killing all year round from sheer lack of knowledgeable and responsibile ownership 🤦♀️from my experience of pit bull, bull breeds, Staffordshire breeds ect... they are gentle loving giants who have a natural instinct to protect both your home and family with little to no training 😊 my eldest is over 12 years and has lived with my 3 young children and 10 cats and has never harmed a hair on their heads. Saying that, I always pick from registered breeders who have socialised them with both pets and children before the 8 week mark. I've never had an XL Bully before but am very surprised at how gentle, protective, loyal and loving he is around myself, 3 young children and my house in general. I was not expecting it all because I'd been told how this breed was to be shortly banned in the UK 😮 I also wanted to add that my XL Bully seems to have a natural calmer instinct around my very boisterous 2 year old ☺️ he seems to know not to nip her but gives me very gentle puppy bites! Now I've always known puppies with huge paws will grow up to be large... but I've never seen an XL Bully with huge paws AND knuckles (I'm new to this breed, he's my 1st) at 10 weeks. His knuckles (or that's what I've called them) are so pronounced and both his neck and shoulders are seriously wide 😳

If you approached my far off the road house, uninvited with my kids outside? You would be trespassing, she'd let them know to get the hell away, standing in front of my kids, if I were expecting you and was outside I'd tell her "its ok", you were fine. @Ashmo613 Жыл бұрын
From my experience, the neighbors' kids aren't in so much danger, but they will likely be terrified at the giant dog running over to play. They actually love kids and are very gentle and playful with them. They are shepherding dogs, meaning they have to be gentle with baby animals, as often they are left alone with a whole flock for periods of time.They have to be comfortable with young animals playing with them, crawling all over them, and they have to be gentle enough to sometimes move them out of danger without hurting them. The danger would be to an adult or adolescent (guys in particular) approaching the house and particularly coming over as a guest. The dog would see him as a threat, and unless the owner is there and has enough control over that dog, it would immediately go into protection mode. Anyone coming on the premises would need to be escorted in, introduced, and then walked out until the dog clearly shows that he accepts them. A similar issue might happen with someone or another big dog approaching the owner while on a walk. They must be socialized big time in that regard, along with some kind of aid to help keep it in control if it slips up. One good and bad thing is that they are very intelligent and think situations through. They aren't going to randomly go after everything or bark for no reason. Someone or a dog just walking down the street minding its own business is likely getting ignored or just looked at,especially a woman, child, or small animal (including dogs). Approaching the house/yard gets the scary response. Women don't tend to get the same level of response as men. They actually look at the situation to see whether or not there is a threat to act accordingly. The big issues are that A) they sometimes won't agree with you in terms of what is a threat, and (B) they go from 0 to 100 in intensity in a split second. They have to be strictly taught that your word goes at all times and to back down immediately. I totally agree that this shouldn't be a normal family pet for most people, as most people would be too lazy and foolish to responsibly handle that much dog. (We ended up with a rescue). Proper training and socialization are a must. Properly handling guests and leaving up a sign/note for strangers to not try coming in are a must. Cutting corners would potentially be very dangerous.

We have a pyrenees, livestock guardian as well. he charged at a black lamb once because he thought it was dangerous. sweet as ever after though. @@zoearcee5909Yes,independent, sweet and lovable as well. They are easy to train in some things and harder in others. Easy when it come to things such as sit, stay, not jumping up, waiting their turn to eat, etc. It's much harder when it comes to overriding their defensive and guarding behavior when you say back down. They are wired to make this decision on their own. It can be done, but it's quite a process. They are on the lazy side when nothing is going on, but they can jump up and suddenly be very agile when playing or if something is threatening. Yeah, big grown men and big dogs approaching the house get the worst response--like a Cujo response. Livestock guardian dogs (pure bred) really aren’t a human threat unless you break into their backyard, then you’re as good as dead. If you come to the front door they take their cues from their owner. Never would they ever hurt a child. Best dogs in the world.
@AmandaHugandKiss411 Жыл бұрын
No, if you walk these types of dogs, you are signaling that the walk is the perimeter of its territory. Not your yard or home. They are specifically bred to do exactly what it genetically was bred to do for centuries. No amount of friendly nicey with your family. Livestock are on large areas of land, not where they sleep off duty. And children are small humans predators from outside the herd. Don't kid yourself.
@lizdi2813 Жыл бұрын
@@AmandaHugandKiss411 you’ve clearly never worked with LGDs. One of their hallmark traits that other breeds lack is discernment. Basically they have higher IQs.They behave much differently than other guard dog breeds. Do they still have to be intensively trained and socialized? Absolutely, maybe moreso than other dogs because of how stubborn and willful they can be. Can they be ruined by extremely abusive conditions? Of course. But these dogs can tell the difference between a threat and a non threat. A child who is mistreating an animal in their flock and causing them to call out in pain could definitely be on the receiving end of a bad bite. But this is not the dog that’s going to escape the yard and bite a child riding their bike down the street. They are too smart for that.
@AmandaHugandKiss411 Жыл бұрын
@lizdi2813 in your own comments, you assume I have no practical knowledge with LGD breeds. I do in fact have 2 decades of direct experience. My parents raised goats and chickens. Her 2 other neighbors raised cattle in the belt of lower northern of Alberta used as fix livestock farming. Although my parents used German Shepherds because goats are browsers and kept in much smaller pens up near their homestead. German Shepherds were best suited. Her 2 other neighbors raised cattle and used exclusively Central Asian Shepherds. This is because of the inherent instincts to guard and aggressively fend off or kill large or smaller predators, including people. They were never trained to be the family pet. If you own a breed, that is for centuries bred to provide a service. No amount of training and socializing is going to alter that breeds instinctual behavior. When you own a dog, that is highly specialized like CAS, and you walk it regularly and allow it to be petted by your friends. You have effectively shown your dog the perimeter of its territory and who it is expected to protect. Should your dog decide that it believes another animal or person is a threat, you have a HUGE problem unfolding in fast efficient order. Plus: why are you keeping a CAS in your yard?. As I said, they are meant to roam, guard, and defend large areas of land. They need to roam, and they need to be worked, not put on a leash and paraded around the neighborhood. And certainly not kept in a backyard. And because they need to roam, they get loose. FYI: the front door scenario you provided is a false impression of your knowledge of these types of breeds. They do look to you for behavior cues, but the nature of what their function is, is to see potential dangers that we as humans don't pick up on... A dog designed to guard people from other people IS NOT the same function as that of large livestock, large breed livestock guard/ shepherd. That's the difference.

@@AmandaHugandKiss411My aunt's Alabai lets my little brother ride on its back, they are human friendly working dogs based off my experience.
@AmandaHugandKiss411 Жыл бұрын
@SpikeThePittie I am glad this was your experience. Carrying him on its back gives your dog purpose. In every breed there are those that are exceptional submissive , having a regular role to fulfill that it is rewarded for with affection certainly can exist within this breed. Just be cautious that your dog doesn't think this is who it is being groomed to protect. Shepherds, in general, only see one family member as the alpha of a pack of two. The rest of the family members or close friends are viewed as resources. Living Resources to protect: Livestock. They don't view the family/ friends as a herd, like breeds that are breed for herding livestock, Boarder Collies, Shetland Sheep dogs etc. Shepherds unlike guard dogs have an off switch. They don't just attach first and ask questions after. But CAS were breed to sit individually, as a sole Sheppard similar to German Shepherds. CAS were breed to scare off or attack large predators. If they have only seen predominantly adult humans and other large dogs, those are the large predators to them. Time will tell. When your nefew is a young adult and other adult males become aggressive towards him, that's when a potential problem may arise, or not. I am going with your instincts and intuition on this , that everything will be fine with your dog. Edit: I realized after typing, you are the mother of the child, and it is his Aunt who owns the dog. Lol. Take care.

In that role it's wonderful but expecting it to be able to adapt to city living like a St Bernard can is delusion. Of course it can be trained and socialized for city living but let's be honest: most people won't make the effort or just aren't qualified. And when a giant, powerful dog is poorly trained and/or socialized then yes, size means a hell of a lot in terms of the damage they can inflict.

Mostly, because they're extremely loyal, aggressive toward other dogs, but not aggressive toward people, and don't have short fights. Many other breeds don't fit these requirements. E.g. When a Roman emperor wanted to test weather lions or Tigers are stronger (he arranged something like 300 fights), initially they just didn't fight each other. They just walked around played down. They had to be conditioned to fight (btw the tigers won virtually every fight to the point the Romans had to put 2 to 4 against 1 before Romans were willing to place bets on lions). The same issues happen with dogs. E.g. We have a local breed bred to fight off hyenas, leapards, and very aggressive lions (that are now extinct). Because these dogs rip Pitbulls to shreds, some idiots will try to use them for dog fights and inevitably get ripped to sheds themselves. This breed just doesn't have the unwavering loyalty Pitbulls have, dispite the trauma of training and fights.

@badtrekee4348 that dog is known as a "wolf crusher" for what it does to wolves and even bears 😂 even the pit knows he ain't doing shit to that thing. It could just step on him lol

@@Cash65852 Chasing is crushing now a days? All i see in videos is a poor starving Wolf being chasing by a few Kangals. Where is the crushing part? A pitbull aint scared Wolf trying to run away. A Pitbull would be the Kangal's worse nightmare. Pitbulls love tough guys. And if you think a Kangal can crush a Bear then you need help.

My fav dog breed if you know how to train this giant baby you can have them. Just be gentle with them and remember they should never forget who Alpha is and that's you. They're really loveable the best guard dog you can ever have. 💕 🐾

But they are not made to live in any city. It's animal cruelty to deny a dog this aize a place to roam. Out in the country for sure, but not a city with a small yard.

@coldsteelrail1123 I Truly Appreciate Your input and I'm humbled by the fact that you took the time out of Your life to correct me, Thank You, Honestly!! But, I learned a long time ago that if you got to explain the intentional irony of a joke, then unfortunately, it loses its "Funny Value" but please, was there anything more of my comment or comments as there's now 2 you could peruse?
