Newcastle is a great city and university. Castle Leazes isn't that bad. Everyone is really friendly. You should have tried staying in Henderson Hall out in Heaton. They knocked it down recently and focused it on sports. The Old Hall building at what was Henderson Hall remain.

@vasandhan85134 жыл бұрын
Aww we're glad! You'll love Newcastle. Castle Leazes is really big with loads of students living there. It's very sociable and there's always parties/pres going on. It's just not as nice and modern as some of the others like Liberty Plaza or Park View etc and sometimes you might have a flat of 16 people say, with a couple of bathrooms between you. But undeniably in terms of social, it is great - but you would also always make friends in any accom you go in! Dm us on Insta if you have any more questions x
@auniawfiyah91164 жыл бұрын
@S190348 Sophie Fidler why's that? 🤔
@catyoung74484 жыл бұрын
@@auniawfiyah9116I agree that they aren't the nicest. I stayed for four days during the Newcastle summer school in year 12 and I couldn't imagine being there for a full year. There are better alternatives out there that aren't linked to the uni and are also more affordable. (Leazes is around £100 a week and I've seen nicer, similarly non-ensuite halls for as low as £70 a week or even some with ensuites for around the same price as leazes). I actually booked my first year accommodation yesterday and it's similar to leazes in that its multiple buildings near each other so good for socialising, it has an ensuite and it's also cheaper if you book early enough to get the less expensive rooms.

I'm going to Newcastle so excited. I really like park view accom and it's super close to the medical school and gym. however i'm worried I'll miss out as all my friends say castle leazes is the place to go. I know that leazes is very social, but is park view also social? because i'd ideally want to be there but i'm scared it will be less social. also if i go to park view is it still possible for me to make friends at leazes? thankyouuu
@vasandhan85134 жыл бұрын
Hey! We’re glad you enjoyed the vid, we definitely wouldn’t say that you’re missing out on social life if you don’t live in Leazes, we know people who lived in Park View who had the best first year going out and met so many people! And yes 100% if you stay in Park View you can still make friends with people in Leazes through societies, your course and just meeting other students around the city! Hope this helps x

Park view is sociable if you make a big effort in freshers, and it helps if your flat is generally sociable as well. It's lovely, big and very comfortable but it can feel a bit like a travelodge, so make sure you knock on doors in your block, join group chats and go to flat parties in fresher's week, cannot stress that enough. Castle Leazes is always going to be the most sociable because you can snoop around almost everywhere, whereas park view you can only access your own block unless someone lets you into theirs. Everywhere is going to be different, and it's just luck of the draw, but also bear in mind that Leazes is generally full of well off Southerners, whereas Park View tends to be a more middle income, Northern vibe. Generalisations but always good to bear in mind.
@lilybrown72654 жыл бұрын
Also benefit of park view is it’s opposite Leazes so if you’re finding it hard you can just cross the road and join your friends there!

Iris Hickson hey! I would say they’re equally as social, castle leazes is a lot more basic living wise and quite grim imo, park view is in flats of 6-8 and it’s super social! All the flats on my floor made such good friends and we always had pre drinks together xx

@Farah-qd4ds3 жыл бұрын
@Brooke Stranaghan it’s fab the rooms are humongous (I have a deluxe room) Social wise I had a very good first semester because the kitchen/living area is soooo good for hosting. Unfortunately there was a postgrad in a studio flat in my house which meant I was in the one single sex girls house however for all the others they were mixed. Park terrace is just opposite so if Kensington isn’t doing it for you then one can always pop down there. I throughly recommend

Raminta Misiunaite Hey, wooo that’s exciting! Park View was not built when we were in first year but we know people who lived in it last year and loved it, it is near the Med School and Sports Centre so a good location, but is also big and sociable! On the other hand, Liberty Plaza is sociable and in a great location, personally we loved that it was near uni but also near the city centre x
