Welcome to my vlog of Newcastle upon Tyne, I'm proud to be bringing you to my home! Join me as I explore some of the most iconic landmarks and hidden gems that this city has to offer.
We'll start by strolling along the iconic Quayside, with its famous bridges and scenic riverside views. Then, we'll walk through the charming streets of the city center, taking in the stunning Georgian and Victorian architecture, including the famous Grey Street and Grainger Town. As a season ticket holder of Newcastle United, I'll also give you a sneak peak of St James' Park on a match day, and a glimpse of what all us Geordies are passionate about. To finish off on our first day exploring, we'll also visit a few of the free museums such as the Discovery Museum, The Hancock Museum and the Laing Art Gallery.
Day 2 brings a lovely little surprise of snowfall, and we begin at Grey's Monument, this time working our way through Grainger Town, and passing the bustling Grainger Market, where you can find a wide array of local products and delicious food. A quick stop off at The Bigg Market, then we head towards the grand Central Station, then into a hidden gem, the Lit and Phil.
I'll then take you into St Nicholas' Cathedral, which I had never been in before, and then along to Newcastle's Castle Keep, which gave Newcastle its name.
As promised, finishing off with a lovely surprise, we'll be heading down into the dark with Victoria Tunnel Tours. I found exploring the Victoria Tunnel fascinating, and really enjoyed the stories and history alongside it.
It took a lot of planning, researching, and editing to finally get this video out, so I really hope you enjoyed it and it wasn't too boring. If you all enjoy this video, I may very well make a part 2, picking up on some stuff I missed out, but also including some other things to see and do which are slightly outside of the city.
You can book the VICTORIA TUNNEL TOUR here:

We have American cousins. Going around Newcastle as a 'tourist' was enlightening. It's amazing what you take for granted, on your own doorstep. It's just where you live and 'boring'. Newcastle is steeped in history which is largely ignored.

Last year I managed to lose my passport in Gdansk, so I decided to do a little cheapskate local UK tour with Flixbus and National Express while I waited to receive a new one because I haven't seen that much of it despite living in Wales for ages and I always thought of the UK as somewhere you live in rather than a holiday destination. I did Bristol - Cornwall - Bath - Manchester - Liverpool - Lake District - Glasgow - Highlands - Edinburgh - Newcastle - Durham - York - Cambridge - Oxford and I have to say that Newcastle was one of my favourite places. A very charming city with a very interesting history; lovely people; and nightlife was out of this world. 10/10

Great informative video and so well presented 👏 I only discovered the beauty of Newcastle and the surrounding areas when visiting my daughter last year, she's relocated there for work and study and loves it. The WOW! Moment for me was emerging up from Monument metro station for the first time and taking in the whole of Grey Street 😍 Two weeks ago I visited again and it didn't disappoint, Newcastle is a hidden gem plus Geordies are the most friendly and welcoming people (it's not a myth!) I'm originally from the South but the whole of the North East has captured my heart, so much so I'm now planning on relocating next year too! 🇬🇧

My Grandad was head of ARP during the war and leading up to the war starting he was instrumental in getting the Victoria tunnel opened. For his work he was given the MBE which was presented to him at St James Park by the King. He also escorted the King and Queen across the newly opened Tyne Bridge so technically he was the first person to cross the bridge. I have a photo of him on horse back leading the royal carriage across the bridge.

Great video! Thanks Ben. I'm an Australian who got married at St Mary's/Station Hotel and some of our wedding supplies accidentally got delivered to the Lit & Phil. We lived nearby and the address got mixed up. The phone call to them still sticks in my mind. Imagine "Hello, Literary and Philosophical Society" said in the slowest posh drawl imaginable ha ha. Currently reading a book about the amazing Armstrong who of course also was a Lit & Phil regular. Ever since I visited Cragside I have found him inspiring. I don't know that most Geordies appreciate what a visionary he was. Whenever I see videos like yours about Newcastle it literally brings tears to my eyes. I really miss it. It's time to start planning another trip back with my wife and children. A long haul from Australia, but worth it.

Seems to be a few former Newcastle Students here :D same for me great times spent on ricky road, digital and ouseburn. I really enjoyed Newcastles compactness, being able to go from Jesmond into town or over to ouseburn in a 5 minute uber or being able to get over to the coast in 20 minutes on the metro. Even got to get up to Edinburgh and Glasgow for weekends away for less than £20 return. Amazed by the airport destinations too. I never did the tunnel tour but I do remember seeing an enterance to it in Spital Tonges, sadly fully closed off but the tour provider had a placard explaining what it was and how you could get into it from Ouseburn. I'm guessing thats where the mine used to be. Newcastle really is a gem.

Great tour of Newcastle! Nice work! 👍 I lived there for a couple of years, in the late 90’s, and had the time of my life and made some amazing pals for life too. Originally from Scotland, now living in Australia, but Newcastle will always be a place that feels like home to me. I’m a new subscriber to your channel. Loving watching your easy-going walking tours of some of my favourite cities in Europe, on the back of finding this video. Thanks. Keep up the good work! 😎
