@@JSantana0830 Seth's threat assessment is one of the hardest parts to watch. Sometimes he see's lines that I've never imagined and it leads to the win, but most of the time it's just a bad reading of the board.

I think a big part of EDH is being able to play with any of your fun/big splashy or slow durdly cards. And I think as wizards continues to push commander cards designed specifically for the format, budget commander is a great way to get back to that original spirit of what commander is suppose to be!

I actually can’t believe Seth countered the Thunderclap Wyvern and let the Isperia continue to draw cards instead of letting Tomer kill it. Tomer wouldn’t have even dealt damage to Crim, so he wouldn’t have been able to search his deck for another turn, in which time Seth could’ve spun twice and tried to find removal for the Isperia without hexproof. Instead he let the easier to kill one die, and left the one that required a board wipe live. Legitimately just a poor play.

Okay so Seth's Chaos Wand spin was a classic moment but Jesus Christ cutting off the person playing psychic corrosion from drawing multiple cards a turn cycle seemed like it should have been the right play instead of BMing a good bluff

ghostly pilferer is lowkey very good in commander. There are constantly cards being cast from outside player's hand (at least in my playgroup) and this rogue draws tons of cards. Also, in 1 round it drew more cards than Tomer's pet budget card "Insight" did last week :-)

In this video, around the 50 min mark, Richard was talking about making Urza's Sunglasses in today's magic. What about this as "Urza's Sunglasses '21," a 4 colorless cmc legendary artifact. It has" 2,tap: Look at an opponents hand. You play a land card from that players hand. That player draws 2 cards." and " At the beginning of the end step, if an opponent has more cards in hand than you, draw a card. It has a more powerful effect than the previous version, but still very fair. You give an opponent 2 resources to answer you, but you get to see the rest of that persons hand. Then, there is the balanced end to the effect of "grab one of their lands." If they dont have a land, you dont get anything and they get 2 cards. But then, the best balancing is that it almost behaves like the monarch token as long as an opponent has more cards than you without the drawback of being "lure"ed. So you get the last effect regardless of whether you activate it or not. And the whole activated effect does not target, so you could get around player hexproof and other effects. I wish I could get your feedback on this card.

Terrible as Magnifying Glass is, it's actually uniquely decent in Zirda since the cost of activation for both clues and the glass itself is reduced. Still not great, but not bad as repeatable card draw.

I think everyone should get their "signature" spell excluded from their budget. Crim gets Mana Drain, Seth gets Wheel of Fortune, Richard gets Tefari's protection and Tomer gets the Helm of Kaldra. Perfectly balanced :)

Budget is not a good measure of power, Seth's deck was way behind the others because he picked a bad gimmick on top of the budget restriction, and if anyone had gotten green they'd been way ahead. Some effects just happen to be cheap despite being great. In fact expensive stuff tends to be land bases, extremely versatile answers, tutors and catchup mechanic cards like Smothering Tithe, Teferi's Protection, Cyclonic Rift etc. So the decks that don't need these are very advantaged.

You can replace 'search' with 'random' in the link of any Scryfall search to generate a card that's a result of that search at random. Be wary though, it'll be weighed by the number of results for each card, so you may want to add a cheapest:usd to the search to make sure every result is as likely.

i haven't exactly had a chance to test it thanks to covid, but i slotted Ghostly Pilferer into my Yuriko deck and it seems like it would do a lot of work in games that go on longer than they should.

Ghostly pilferer is being played in cEDH. It is a very solid blue card for every deck in commander. Definitely not "going deep on rogues"

The point of mana is to cast spells. It doesn't matter if you're ramping "into" something, it matters that the extra mana casts more spells than less mana. If you have either a lot of card draw, lots of medium cost spells, or multiple high cost spells, then more mana is good. Tomer's just wrong here, because literally every deck fits at least one of those 3 criteria.

I'm sorry tomer but you're wrong about hedron archive. maybe if non-competitive commander games were won with speed rather than overall mana/card advantage you'd be right, but the flexibility is what makes it good. Not saying it belongs in every deck, but I'd run it over worn powerstone/thran dynamo, purely because games go so long that tempo advantages kinda don't matter so much.

but... but Hedron archive pays for itself. It gives you a bunch of mana in the early-mid game and if you run low on gas in the mid-late game, it draws you 2 cards. It pays for itself in like, 2-3 turns.
