For the Flash Hulk Pile at 1:38:30. You want to get Cephalid Illusionist, Hapless Researcher, Nomads En-Kor, and Grand Abolisher. You can then mill yourself out and have Grand Abolisher protecting you. You had Narcomoeba in hand so you go for the unearth on Fatestitcher and then sacrifice the Fatestitcher, Nomads and Illusionist for Dread Return on Lab Maniac, after it resolves, sac the Hapless as your card draw. Best of luck next time around!
@PotatoGuidanceMissle6 жыл бұрын
Laboratory Maniacs My friend runs a sultan Flash Hulk deck with Tasigur at the helm, but he’s still figuring out what’s good and what’s bad in it. I’m trying to tell him that Damia would be better, even if Tasigur does provide advantage early on, because Damia allows free advantage rather than just trying to pour your deck into your graveyard just to be blown out by 1 tormod’s crypt. Also, working on a Muldrotha brew before the set drops, shes looking crazy!
@auronit9276 жыл бұрын
Derp The thing is that you'll likely never cast Damia, while Tasigur is usually only 1-2 mana. You also use Tasigur to win once you have infinite mana. Further he can also reuse your spells, which makes playing combo/control easier
@PotatoGuidanceMissle6 жыл бұрын
Fabian Fässler the only problem I have is his deck isn’t optimized for Tasigur as the commander. Damia seems like a better fit for him until he starts putting in some ways to dump a bunch into the graveyard as well as ways to filter his graveyard of the bad stuff.
@Christofascist_Hup6 жыл бұрын
Derp how can a commander that you'll never cast be a better fit than one you can?
@LaboratoryManiacs6 жыл бұрын
If you are running Sultai Flash, Tasigur will do infinitely better than Damia. In a cEDH meta, Damia does nothing. Tasigur can be useful. You may also consider looking at Muldrotha.
@jasonl11846 жыл бұрын
Richard reading the meta I thought was actually insanely cool. It was an intelligent call and paid off (mental misstep punt helped).
@tw0handt0uch6 жыл бұрын
He played well too. It’s an easier deck that the other three but he tutored both games for protection and the seething song into shattering spree was a good call vs holding the song to rudh Ruric out.

Hey yo that’s my Ruric list! Thanks for presenting comp gameplay and showing some of the compelling interactions and strategies that make the format so great. We in the cedh community have been working our butts off to squash the notion that comp players are just spikey pubstompers intent on ruining casual fun day. We actively denounce such behavior and try to emphasize the social nature of the format: if the power and nature of the decks are fully transparent and relatively comparable the high powered edh can be a fascinating, unsolvable challenge that offers a ton of fun and interaction. Communication is the key and the RC has been wise enough not to ban away all the powerful enablers and offer us this space to brew and play with other comp players. Cheers, you made a new Goldfish fan of me. Anyone wanting more info on comp edh is encouraged to find us on reddit or discord.

Zookind789 It was a good pick for a meta full of people unfamiliar with the format.
@naomisalama4306 жыл бұрын
Ruric is deece in a meta dominated by spell based combo. It also helps if some of your opponents is a "midrange combo" deck that attempts to slow down the early combo decks by control and then combo out with more resiliency later. That's the chain veil teferi build here. Storm is also more towards midrange, grixis variant atleast. So you have two controlling decks and a stax against a fast combo deck.
@Jackaroo.5 жыл бұрын
They also all had counterspells in hand in the first game and all let Carpet of Flowers resolve. XD They didn't know how any of the other decks worked either.

I wouldn't be surprised if I'm wrong but I think Jennifer had a chance at winning the first game. If she chain of vapor the Ruric Thar and played a island she could then merchant scroll for high tide. Play the high tide and generate 4 blue. Then she could play the crypt add mana and cast her commander leaving 1 blue. -1 the commander untapping four islands and going to 9 blue. Stroke of genius for x=4 leaving 2 blue. If she draws either gilded drake or ciclonic ryft she stabilizes on board with 19 live and Teferi.

Tom wanted Grand Abolisher and Hapless researcher in that Flash Hulk pile at the end. Then do the flashback dance to get Lab Maniac from the GY with no threat of counters. Of course, the flash should have been Mana Drained by Jen, letting her go off the next turn with pact in hand, but once it resolved Tom could have won.
@carter94496 жыл бұрын
Tom you know about the mana drain in Jen's hand from probe!
@emilysmith35946 жыл бұрын
Yeah... I think if you don’t play Modern all the time (where Probe is SO MISSED by some decks), it just reads “pay 2 life to draw a different card.” But what it really says is “check to see if the coast is clear. Play the rest of your turn based on that information, but with all your mana. Draw a card.”
@coopergraveline45336 жыл бұрын

Tom on the first game you had turn three win in hand with protection. Fetch for scrubland, Mox pitching mana dork, D tutor for flash pass. Next turn pass(hitting land drop if able and if you can play your second mana dork) in the end step before your turn cast eladamri's call finding Hulj. On your turn flash in hulk with mana to cast swan song. Find Mill combo plus any one drop and a grand abolisher, sack 3 for dread return targeting the angel that reanimates all humans and exiles all angels. The two important humans that come out are laboratory maniac and the human wizard that says "sacrifice himself draw a card" and since you don't have to tap him you win on the spot turn three with swan song back up. I forgive you for missing this though because I play the exact flag hulk card list and it really is a pile of cards.

At 1:21:28 Tom could've won assuming Jen did not have a counter. Tap birds for any color, overgrown tomb for black, Diabolic Intent to Tutor flash (all of this with Pact of Negation backup for Tomer's Mana drain), play the land, flash in Hulk and win. Although, if something gets interrupted at this point after pact, you lose. But hey, competitive commander, all or nothing right?

Thrasios is there for the combo, and is not really needed for the card draw. Tymna starts drawing steadily from Turn 2 onwards which is much better than Zur's 4 mana to cast and then 2 turns of waiting. Also, having Green is huge since you get access to dorks and other good cards.

Ashra __ Turn 1 Thrasios was pretty cringy. The commander literally a 2 mana 1/3 in the earlygame since activating it wont be reasonable early. T1 Thrasios is only ever ok if 1. You have no dorks and need a T2 beater for Tymna. Basically if your hand is nothing else than T1 Thras, T2 Tymna, its fine. 2. You have a nuts hand and are doing a Grim Monolith+Power Artifact(this deck doesnt run that tho) on Turn 2 and cant spare the colors. 3. You need a creature to sac to fuel T2 Ad Nauseam through Culling the weak. Usually, its bad. This time it was bad.

Yeah I have to agree with you there; disallowing cards in a playgroup because of limited bad experiences with them is not the way to move forward and learn. Instead of doing stuff like that, try mixing up the decks that get brought to the table or making changes within the regular decks to interact with stuff like that.
