Sakashima's will can copy the creature it gains control over.

I figured it could. We didn’t know in the moment but looking back at it that makes sense!

So, I checked youtube comments to make sure it hasn't been brought up yet. At 58:27, the player casting Sakashima's Will CAN actually copy whatever he is gaining control of. While you can't interact with how they're put on the stack, the second part of the spell only checks for legal targets once the first part is done. My personal thought would be take a big angel, or Vigor and swing out with copies of it, but in the heat of the moment, I definitely understand that it is easily forgotten. The only reason this works this way is the space between the two abilities by the way, if they were one block of text, then it wouldn't be able to do it. As for the Coiling Oracle, it didn't need haste to attack. It never leaves the battlefield, just shifts controllers. Again, I understand how it could be missed, but I want other people to be able to have the knowledge if they didn't realize it! Great game! Edit: Cassius is menacing this video as well. Edit 2: I was wrong about summoning sickness part. But the Sakashima's Will still applies about copying it

The coiling oracle would need haste. Even though it’s been on the battlefield the summoning sickness ruling specifies the controller needs to have it on the battlefield for a turn cycle and that includes changing of controllers. This is why most threaten effects specify the creatures gains haste

His next turn he could have swung with it. Whenever he gains control he needs to wait another cycle. Changing controllers restarts the summoning sickness

Also since Slicer has double strike, it wouldn't really synergise with Vigor right? Because as long as it kills the thing that's blocking it in first strike damage, it doesn't take any damage itself

Yeah, you can't kill him with damage but you can still just chump block him to stop his damage without dealing any damage back to him.

great game! one fun lil thing that andrew may or may not already know. the way sakashima is worded, the effects are separate. therefor you would first take the creature and then make the copies. so he could actually make a copy of whatever he stole. just a lil nugget of info for yall

he coulda made everything whatever he stole... meaning if vigor was given over he coulda made everything vigor and had a bunch of 6/6 Tramply boi's swinging, none of his critter's woulda died, and that which was not blocked would have done 48 damage. And depending on what creature that D sent over, he coulda made an army of life linking flyer's probably would not have been enough in the end, but it was a good game, yay for Giada finally getting to show off on a show.

With Andrew's Sakashima's Will, let's say in theory Higher gives him Vigor, since Sakashima's Will is modular, could he have made all his creatures into Vigor? Then if they were, would they have all damage prevented if they took any damage? All "in theory" here. I'm curious if that could've worked out.

Slicer would get huge with vigor but only if slicer would not kill the other creature because of double strike. So even a tiny lil pest can block it and slicer won’t get counters. The big angels on the other hand would probably make things worse if they blocked haha

It’s definitely not for some that’s for sure but if that is taking you away from the game that’s unfortunate. I like to think about all the potential new people that will be introduced to the game from their favorite fandoms. I would’ve never even tried games like Fortnite or Dead by Daylight until they introduced some characters that I like from other fandoms. Say for instance that someone found out about the game through a UB and then started designing cards for WOTC or it inspired them to make their own game that became really popular! You never know what might give others happiness and that’s how I like to think about it. Even if I don’t like it, if it brings someone else joy then that’s alright with me!

@@TabletopJocks it’s not just that there are cards from other fandoms it’s how they do it that bugs me. For example I love the way they did the Godzilla cards in ikoria where it was an alternate art kind of like a cosmetic skin in a video game that was cool. But when these cards are their own thing and are powerful it forces you to buy into the UB because if you do t you lose. If the cards were just alt arts id be all for it. Don’t get me wrong I’ll never not play with someone if they use UB cards but with the already aggressive power creep in MTG it’s hard to keep up if you don’t go and get UB cards
