I agree. Previous episodes had too much conversations, too cluttered and lose focus on the game. I had lost interest until this episode.
@derekgorlewski78702 жыл бұрын
i am sure this has been mentioned already, but Ashlen's executions of her sylvan library's ability were slightly incorrect. It doesn't read look at 2 cards before your draw step... it says you draw 2 additional cards. Your "normal" card for turn draw would actually be first, and then you may draw 2 additional cards. Then, out of the 3 draws you've made in total this turn, you put back 0, 1, or 2 cards, and pay 4 life for each of the other 2 cards you kept. In layman's terms its simply: untap, upkeep, "look at the top 3 cards, keep 1 for free, then pay 4 life each for either/both of the others". I know it doesn't really change much or impact the outcome of the game. This is just a minor technicality, but i do feel that it should be known by players choosing to play the card.

I was seeing if anyone mentioned this. As you said I don't think it changed much, but she puts herself at a disadvantage by not seeing all 3!

I don't want to hate on the channel or players. I've been watching every episode, and there have been some really cool decks and guests coming out to play. That's all awesome! However, I feel like there is something lacking in the Rule Zero conversation. More and more of these games feel like Joe Deck Techs. I don't know if the guests are feeling like they'd be rude in focusing on Joe. I don't know if he's just super sneaky at down-playing his board state. But whatever it is, Joe seems to be the only person with real threat assessment at the table. This game, specifically, he continued to build his board state, turn after turn, and keeping everyone else in check. Yes, this game had some good interaction, but it was mostly from Joe. And then, as with many other games I've seen on the channel, you've got your guests just sitting there. When it's your usual pod, it's whatever, because they're still hanging and chillin' with their friends. But then when you've got your other guests who are on the show and just kinda' smilin' for the camera, it's a real feel bad. I'm not saying anyone should let anyone win. And I'm not saying anyone is a bad Magic Player or "shame on Joe." Like I said, I'm continuing to tune in and gobble up this Magic Content. But I feel like the guests need to be primed a lot more with, "No seriously, come at me." This ultimately is a game of luck, for sure. And I wouldn't be surprised if you guys film multiple games and then upload what had the best plays overall. But it just feels like the winning is happening, more times than not, on one side of the table.
@TabletopJocks2 жыл бұрын
Rule 0 happens every game on the channel. I literally tell people how the deck wins over the course of the game, what cards I do to make that happen, and break down what to watch for. I could include these more but I’d rather get right to it. Magic is ultimately about seeing the situation and reading the room to the best of your ability with what you have. If you top deck something great then good for your deck but it’s ultimately a crap shoot. This rant just seems like you’re hating when you start like you did. When a deck wins and does what it’s supposed to do on any other channel they get praise for how well they built the deck. Seems like when someone of color especially myself does well at this game all of a sudden it’s not about the pilot anymore and I’m somehow manipulating the game. I’m not saying you are accusing me of cheating or anything but when you take the time to write all this it feels like something else. The same way I felt when I first started going to different LGSs and the treatment I received from gatekeeping people in the community. Y’all really need to stop and take a look at yourselves sometimes. Is it really about me building a good deck and knowing how to pilot it or are you just mad about me “playing your game” cause that’s what this feels like. I’ve spoken on a lot of podcasts recently to other minorities about this issue as well. Also, if that’s how you feel why are you even here or have this much to say at all? This feels like an attack. Please clarify.
@MisterFerv2 жыл бұрын
@@TabletopJocks Clarification: I wrote as much as I did because it was not a rant, but me trying to be VERY clear of my point to avoid it looking like an attack. It's not. I commend you on your Threat assessment and Deck building in general. What brings me here? Because you and I have similar deck building mind-sets. I admire the decks you build, and I never disagree with the plays you make. Keeping a Lifegain deck from having all the pieces of its combo on board? Blowing up an elf-maker in an elf deck? Obviously these are the right moves. I don't think anyone should be LET to win. I also have full faith that you guys have a Rule Zero conversation. Again, I suggested that maybe the guests (not already in your pod and use to your decks and playstyle) get more of a push to be aggressive. Ultimately, I'm not saying what you SHOULD do, sitting down and making Magic Content. Everything you said about what Magic is, I absolutely agree with. I'm only stating an observation of what I'm seeing happening on more and more episodes. I want to see everyone's unique Decks show-cased and pop-off when they can. Hell, I even want to see a pod finally brave enough to take on your Land Destruction Deck. I know you always bring it and are ready to pull it out. I can't speak on how you are treated in the community as a whole, or how other content creators are praised or whatever. Game Knights is an over-produced commercial for Magic. IHYD is obviously... problematic. YOU are one of the few content creators I'm still adamantly following, consuming and looking to support. I don't want to see your content be stale, nor do I want you to hold back on your guests. I'm not saying what the fix is here. I'm just pointing out observations.
