Being a Fanatec user and racing daily with the McLaren GT3 wheel which I am relatively happy with, getting my hands on this specific Simagic wheel really opened my eyes on what quality is out there! Great review Jack!

I was able to test the FX and Neo back to back on both Alpha Mini and Alpha U last week. Much, much preferred the FX over the Neo, Neo felt cheaper (as it should) but the FX just felt right. Not sure if it’s worth the premium but when I upgrade from my ThrustMaster gear (which is why I was testing) I will pay the extra for it IF I don’t go FX Pro 😊 On a side note the Moza GS GT wheel I also thought was nicer than the Neo, but the KS wasn’t……
@JACKZERYT5 ай бұрын
Very interesting my friend, Moza are actually sending out their R9 and GS V2P soon for review so I'll be curious to see the difference as I guess the FX and GS would be direct competitors. Tell me something dave, what was the difference between the Mini and U? Night and day or?
@DaveBartram5 ай бұрын
@@JACKZERYT With my limited time on the sim testing and to be honest fairly new to sim racing, I’d say yes there is a definite difference between the two. I don’t need 23nm but you could tell and feel the difference, personally I’ll be going for the Mini, it’s plenty and not worth the 2x price increase for the U (for me) If your very used to the Mini I’m sure the U would offer you more and probably make more sense to upgrade. Similar with the pedals, tested the P1000 and P2000 again back to back but much preferred the 2000’s with the hydraulics, so worth the extra (for me). I had a good day last week testing all these lol, never used a DD wheelbase before, Wife’s gonna hate me ;)

Grid MPX and GSI would be a better investment at FX Pro level. You only have the Simagic dashes
@DrR1pper4 ай бұрын
@@DaveBartram very jealous of your opportunity to test it all before you buy. 😋 Thanks for sharing your experience. Very helpful. Has shifted me more towards the FX series instead now. How did the Neo and FX compare from an ergonomic perspective though? Grips better on one than the other or just different but both equally good in their own ways? I was really thinking the Neo might be the better buy from a functional perspective, even though I had also been contemplating the FX Pro for the additional top rear shifter paddles (with the front display and rev LED's going totally unused by myself if I were to get it as I race in VR only).

I was in awe of it when i first got it. I guess coming from Thrustmaster it's no surprise. I have recently moved it on along with the Alpha U in favour of a Simucube 2 Pro and a GSI X29. Admittedly I have less features but the quality of this wheel is insane and the shifters are among the best if not the best in the industry. I'm looking forward to picking up the GSI Hyper SL come black friday/Christmas. For me the lack of Simhub support on the Simagic FX was the final straw for me to upgrade Edit. The actual driving experience was great and it looks and feels incredible. I would highly recommend it to anyone although if you start upping the buget as I did then I now look elsewhere.

What benefits have you observed going from the Alpha U to the SC2 Pro?
@cliffybyro56934 ай бұрын
Great video. Thanks so much! I own the FX Pro und there is an issue with the handles. In my opinion they are not stiff enough. When I pull them a bit more e. g. in a chicane, they crack and "move" a bit forwards / backwards. This is disturbing. As both wheels are built quite similar, I am wondering, if you made the same exerience with the FX? Thx so far

Well take it from me. I own the xgt pro and the cube controls f-core. This is as quality as both and costs less. 500 is absolutely a steal for this wheel and the rubber grips I actually like more wuality wise. Also the shifters just feel better. I find it a good price for what you get. I think people are forgetting where prices are at. The f-core cost more and it also doesnt come with a screen or anything. This is an extemeely high quality wheel with amazing encoders, amazing rotary and amazing shiffer paddles. Wuen you get other wheels you realize how good it is. Its got a full alu back, 5mm cf front plate etc. So yeah all the quality you can ask for. Gt neo isnt even close. I love my neo but its plastic its not real cf. Worse buttons, encoders. Rotary and paddles. Its extremely noticable. Its just the gt neo feels good to drive with. Oh aslo the rubber grips are way worse on the gt neo. Its a 300 dollar wheel and people cant believe the price but its still a budget wheel. 500 is not high in the wheel market at all and everyone cant believe how good it is for 500. Again when you experience more wheels you realize other brands charge way more for not much more. Gt neo is amazing amazing to race with but you can see where the corners were cut. Its def high wuality plastic composite its dense has some weight but not real quality materials like alu or real cf. The buttons are also harder cheaper plastic. The truely amazing thing about the gt neo is its ergonomics and how it feels when racing. But the hype train was hot and peoole are coming back down to earth now. Great wheel for budget wheels. But cannot compete with higher end wheels in pure quality. But st the end of the day its about how it feels when racing. So a+ for that. Just want to say any other wheel undrr 500 dollars is plastic and hss these corners cut. Something to take into account when looking at an fx and wondering why it's so much. Its really not when comparing to other wheels around the 600 dollar mark.

@JACKZERYT for sure! If you truely look at the market all wheels like this quality with insanely good encoders, rotary, shifter paddles, grips and alu/cf are all over 600 dollars. At least from my experience and what I've held. Ita why somagic is blowing my mind so much. The fact it's the age it is and others on the market still haven't offered a 500 dollar wheel with these quality of materials blows my mind.

@@reviewforthetube6485 thank you for weighing in with personal experience of both. I've tried cube control CSX-3 before on an SC2 Pro and was sorely disappointed. The grips had the opposite of grip, lol. How much better are the ergonomics of the Neo over the FX and how does that translate to track performance. An even better question is, which do you find yourself using more between those two? Lastly, how much value add are you getting from the top additional shifters on the back with the Pro? Many thanks in advance!
@reviewforthetube64854 ай бұрын
@DrR1pper I love this question, so I find myslef using the fx pro more purely because of the grips being higher quality. But the ergonomics on the gt neo and the feeling of control I can see most wanting to drive that more. Everytime I put my neo back on I go yeah it's just meant to be raced with. It's not the highest quality grips but it is amazing to use. It's still comfortable to use also. I have a feeling that sim magic will be upgrading grips soon due to all of the people reaching out after a few months with messed up grips. Regardless of using gloves or not. It's all over the place right now. Even a post made on Facebook for peoppe to track issues that was just uploaded the other day. But the thing is it's a sub 300 dollar wheel and it's a damn good one so yeah. I believe if they use the fx pro grip material on the gt neo it would be a massive W. Me I like the rubber/silicone that simagic uses on the fx line. Mine doesn't get slippery if anything it can get sticky but pretty smooth overall. I guess they have updated them since the fx pro and fx are now v2s. But yeah it's up to you I mean price is def slot more but I love the fx pro and am so happy I bought it. I also love the gt neo. I feel like I can be faster with the gt neo at times but once adapted to the fx pro I'm very fast and I like the floaty feel it has due to the qr location being lower. It feels like it floats and bounces. Such a great feeling when your suspension is moving. Yeah the csx3 had to smooth of grips I can see that being an issue.

@@reviewforthetube6485 damn, lol, this is not helping make my window shopping decision making any easier but I massively appreciate the in depth reply! I wish I could try both before deciding. I still want a round wheel for my simagic base, it's only for arcade roms (like daytona). The cheapest option is £400 which although im sure the quality justifies it, it would be nice (like moza) to have a cheap and expensive options like with gt neo, i just need the quality. It's great gt style has the cheap/expensive option... but they also need to bring maglink to their old kit like this

@JACKZERYT4 ай бұрын
They're similar but I think Moza tries to give you a deal and compromises on quality (slightly) So kf you hold the simagic FXC you will feel a heavy, cold metal feel, with rubber handles. And the GS will have a bizzare plastic feel, with some synthetic leather in the hands. It's a stunning wheel but the FXC is bomb proof

@@JACKZERYT sorry, I meant versus the GT Neo. In my long term window shopping that I’ve been doing, I had settled on either the FX or FX Pro (even though I only use VR) if I were to go for a Simagic build (which I’m now like 95% certain I will for the next build, including P1000 pedals) but then the GT Neo had to come out and screw up the decision making progress I had made, lol. First world problems ‘ey.

Do you find the 1.5 kgs weight to be a hindrance to you? That's heavy for a F1 steering wheel made of carbon fibre. Something tells me something is wrong when you buy a carbon fibre product and you expect it to be light. I am a little put off by the weight.
@JACKZERYT10 күн бұрын
Lol dont be at all haha, trust me thats the last thing you want to worry about, when its on your base, it's weightless remember so dont worry too much about weight, even with the alpha mini it's super!
@catnipherb9 күн бұрын
@@JACKZERYT Okay cheers. I'm sure the Mini has enough strength to overpower the wheel weight. If the weight is not a problem to you then I'll stop worrying. Phew! I plan to buy a Mini from Sim Demon around Black Friday next month, then I'll get the steering wheel from Milky Motorsport in the US which is £310-something (without tax) as opposed to UK shops selling it for £500+. Is your Mini base pumping out 13 newton metres when at maximum? Or is it restricted to 10 newtons? I heard somewhere the newer versions of the Mini are restricted to 10 newton metres and old versions of the base output 13.
@JACKZERYT9 күн бұрын
@catnipherb well I have the V1 which is possibly 13, but I think it's 10tbh, and something that could be a good idea if I were you. Is save money on the FX wheel, get a Neo, and an Alpha base. If I could go back in time (and the Neo was out) aaaand I knew what I knew now, I'd get an Alpha I stead of the mini, so you won't have doubts about forcefeedback strength in the future. Best of luck!
