Dude, you're a damn intellectual hero. Please be aware: I'm definitely going to take up on your offer of mentorship for creating an idea channel. I have all kinds of things planned out spanning many media, and I think it's only fair you have a voice in it. Much blessings, you literally created a catalyst that will take the entire world in a better direction.

Mike, thanks so much for tackling my question! As someone who dearly loves this show and what it has done (and is doing), it is an incredible honour and absolutely made my week. I plan to respond to your response :D on my blog in the near future as it, and these last few episodes, have got me thinking a lot about my journey as a student of critical literary theory and now as a teacher.

4:35 Here's an idea: on the next project, the most important episodes would be made AFTER the discussion with the users. For example posting a first draft of your idea, and doing the comment responses before the main episode XD

0:12 I'm imagining dozens of derivative meme channels that slightly alter the title "PBS Idea Channel", most of which fully commit to their individual bit they're doing according to the altered title, all with the homey shit-tier quality we love and expect from memes. (Kinda like what happened to I Hate Everything, in case you didn't catch the reference)

That topic of choosing a medium to fit a message has got me wanting to see a hymnal choir (i.e. like singing in an audience singing a semi-prepared song(not sure if there is a better word for it?)) essay on the concept of cooperation.
@rwhe4237237 жыл бұрын
In terms of the different forms of media for expression, you actually hit a lot of the points that are covered in UDL (Universal Design for Learning) that shifts educational focus away from specific barriers of media preventing the understanding or the showcasing of learning. For example, allowing students to either write a text response to some sort of prompt, record a video detailing their response, make a poster that somehow depicts their comprehension, etc. Since some forms of media are very obvious barriers to some, opening up the classroom to additional forms in a universal sense so that students can find their own comfort for expression.

In response to how to get people in the conversation around 7:15 One way to actually get a conversation going is to stream an episode live, after the episode runs its course you allow a handful of viewers to participate in live conversation with you. How you get to choose the viewers wouldn't be that difficult either, in radio shows they have a quality control group separate from the host speaker of the show to make sure that the viewer isn't just in it for the lulz. So after the episode airs, have a brief 1-2 minute intermission for calls (It doesn't have to be actual phone calls, It can be any communication service of choice like discord, skype, hangouts, etc.), and then start the conversation after the quality control group selected a handful of people who have things to add to the discussion. It's all fair game too because whoever dials up fastest gets to be part of the conversation. Hell, you don't even need the intermission, you can start accepting calls the very second the episode starts running. The only problem with this method is that you won't be able to get to everyone in on the call. You'd have to decide whether you want short additions to the conversation and move on to someone else for their input or have a larger discussion and risk being limited to a smaller handful of people to build upon the topic.

There is already a sort of experiment about what medium works the best. Compare a movie, book, comic, video game, audio drama/audiobook, and TV show of the same IP and see who told the story, especially if one of them is the source and the others adaptations, the best.

While the video is paused, you can hit the "," and "." keys to advance one frame at a time. Even then it's blurry and that's the only thing I could make out. I thought it would be an easter egg.

This is an invitation to see an artist theory on the nature of time! This geometrical process can be represented by just one equation (E=ˠM˳C²)∞ with energy ∆E equals mass ∆M linked to the Lorentz contraction ˠ of space and time. The Lorentz contraction ˠ represents the time dilation of Einstein’s Theory of Relativity. We have energy ∆E slowing the rate that time ∆t flows as a universal process of energy exchange or continuous creation. Mass will increase relative to this process with the c² represents the speed of light c radiating out in a sphere 4π of EMR from its radius forming a square c² of probability. This forms the probability and uncertainty of everyday life and at the smallest scale of the process is represented mathematically by Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle ∆×∆pᵪ≥h/4π. The brackets in the equation (E=ˠM˳C²)∞ represents a dynamic boundary condition of an individual reference frame with an Arrow of Time or time line for each frame of reference. The infinity ∞ symbol represents an infinite number of dynamic interactive reference frames that are continuously coming in and out of existence.

5:30 This "arbiter" thing is why I think Reddit is a much better home for what Idea Channel tried to be, because of its democratic up-vote system. I like Quora too, which has a similar up-vote system, but also has experts on the site for science questions deserving definitive answers. Best of both worlds!
@dliessmgg7 жыл бұрын
The up/downvote system certainly has its upsides, but it's not without fault. Many times the comment response videos highlighted comments that had fundamental disagreements with the main video. These were often chosen to clarify certain points, or ask questions that could lead to such clarity. I can't see that kind of comment doing well in a system that is based on popularity.
@peardude89797 жыл бұрын
Dliess Mgg It would entirely depend on the community. I would like to believe that the type of community IC has, valid criticism would get upvoted.

Mike, you misunderstand what people mean when they say you probably were high when you wrote this. They probably have smoked weed or something before and know they get a more "creative" mindset when they are high, and they get that same mood here on Idea Channel. Remember, they like this mindset, it's what keeps them addicted, so it's actually a weird form of a complement. Don't be offended, be proud.
