Agree to a certain point, always nice to be a couch commentator not knowing the lay-out ETC but NEVER put trucks in a "out of Service" location if the fire spreads trappin the trucks and the FF are DEAD. Hoses, YES hoses are less expensive than a truck ( personnel) and outside the fire you can hit lines with hydrates . like I said I am only arm chair observer DC , not on the outlook of the fire but looks like DC or Chief did well and a good 4 Thumbs up. first truck in HITS the HYDRATE, 500/750 Gallon tank dries out quickly and you can loss control FAST.

@@commandvisionfire Odd thing is ladder 3 has the exact same setup on the end as my city's first ever ladder truck in the department's history (we only got it due to then chief Joe Scharfenburg putting serious pressure on the city council to get one). It was also "gung ho Joe" that was the driving force behind our city rebuilding an old 20 foot boat into our city's first fireboat since it's founding.

Curious what you meant by division 2? To me, that means the second floor, but then you report a fire on the 1st floor. Was the initial view, fire on the second floor or does division 2 mean something else for you?

Division 2 is the 2nd floor. Why I first arrived there was fire blowing out of the hood vent on the first floor and fire extending up to the 2nd floor. It had a pretty good headstart on us.

Let me add one of many well deserved congrats on your retirement, Chief. I learned more from even one of your videos that I did from any dozen others, and that's a testament to how tight a ship you ran. You've truly earned some rest. On the fire: This one looks really unfortunate. From the outside on arrival, there wasn't even smoke visible. It only took a few minutes for it to break out. And quite frankly, if a fire gets away from you and YOUR crew, you know it was hopeless from the beginning. It's probably Captain Obvious to a huge number of your viewers and to yourself. But for sake of any boo birds, fires spread freaking FAST and I have read commercial kitchen fires start hot and quickly become infernos. There's often a lot of grease in commercial kitchens, among many other flammable things, many have a built in gas supply, and once a fire in one gets rolling... the results I've seen are always catastrophic. Nobody would have been fast enough to catch up to a fire like that.

Always makes me feel sorry for the owner, poor Bummie! Hope he will recover! What is making matters worse again is the material that's almost always used for the construction of non - industrial buildings in the US: wood! So the building itself is the fireload, together with the stuff that's inside! After having watched numerous videos showing Fire Departments responding to non - commercial structure fires, I get the impression that they prefer exterior attacks, with a focus on saving the exposures instead of the fire building itself. And on saving people trapped inside, of course!

I read that over 300 "uninformed individuals' make less than intelligent comments...WHY? Been a VFF over 35 years and have seen a lot of FUBAR events, this is NOT ONE of them! Assuming part one is mostly continuous, Command arrived quickly, assessed the scene and made good decisions. It was apparent to me, he valued his FF more than a fast stop and seemed to be on top of everything! Even pulling people out, the initial stop was good considering it was a (99). Google shows the building no longer exists so experience tells me that ceiling problem turned extensive. Good job, {even for professionals}.

Quick question for you chief, Obviously I'm no firefighter, so I'm curious as to why you didn't go in the front door? The fire is in the back, yes, but would wonder if attacking from the front would prevent the rapid spread of fire. Always love learning about all this! Thanks again Chief!

As a Senior line Officer who administers assessment tests to promoting personnel, let me say this was top notch, Just because I am "that tester" I would have only knocked off a little for the fact you called this a straight commercial property, and then said it was half restaurant and half apartments. Maybe that is your local SOP, here would have called it a "mixed use structure, apartment and restaurant" I could follow your radio traffic and assignments with ease. Great job, and congrats on retirement, but makes me sad that might not see many more of these command videos.
