Lately I've been using the koah mid plus fatback 52'' and love it. I can control it with one hand in heavy current by pulling back against my shoulder. Just before the shot I push forward using both hands like you said. To me controlling the gun with one hand is a big advantage for clearing and holding on to rocks

okay cool and I my last question is your reel line the same diameter and type of line as your dynemma that’s attached to the shaft. Because I see you have a snap swivel attaching your reel line to the shooting line.

it is the same diameter yes, the swivel is to prevent twisting.

Very good video on your setups. I like your pragmatism and ingenuity lot. May I ask how come no Roller spearguns? I’m new to the sport. Spent a week in Kona using a pole spear and now looking to get a speargun. Something like a Pathos roller speargun.
@KeyWestWaterman3 жыл бұрын
don't have anything against them! never tried one, but i'm one of those guys that if I don't have a problem with something I don't change it. I don't wish I had more range, or less recoil. the two main selling points of a roller from my understanding.

Aloha from Hawaii, ever notice any difference in mono vs dyneema shooting line? Dyneema on the reef is obviously more durable and can be tied in a quick disconnect knot. I've been hearing lately that dyneema will slow down your shaft quicker compared to mono. Any quick thoughts? Also what diameter dyneema are you usually using for shooting line?
@KeyWestWaterman3 жыл бұрын
I believe its 1.8, and it may but the difference is so subtle it probably couldn't even be detected in my opinion.
@derekwarnock2703 жыл бұрын
I just got a riffe euro 90 it came with 2 wraps of dynema from neptonics I asked for that instead of mono when I was practicing in the pool it shoots all the wraps and wants more line from the reel I’d rather have 1 wrap for ease of getting it loaded to shoot again. Do your guns do that with one wrap ?
@KeyWestWaterman3 жыл бұрын
yes they do as well, it all depends on the gun a 90 is pretty small one wrap is very little range. the reason I don't like double wrap with a bigger reef gun is because there's way too much line left when you shoot allowing a fish to take the slack and often wrap up in the reef or get in a hole.

Did not understand single wrap vs double. Really am lost about set up between reel and connection to spear. What keeps the reel from backlashing?
@kyleschemenauer56313 жыл бұрын
The reel has drag which keeps it from back lashing.
@KeyWestWaterman3 жыл бұрын
its the amount of runs your line makes down and back from the line release to the line guide. and yes most reals have drag on them, although I like mine loose, I don't like a reel that locks down. my hand is my drag.
