The ‘powder’ stops the cores sticking together and provides some ‘lube’ for easier bending. It lets the cores more easily move over each other within the cable. And as also mentioned, will likely provide some barrier to water penetrating along the cable by capillary action.

Little tip. There is a little place for a screw at the buttom of the charger under the rubber piece after you put on the cover plate to really lock it in place. I’m an electrician in Denmark and my company have put up 300 of these chargers in big parking garages.

Nice job. I recommend using stainless bolts and washers for exposed fixings like this, the bright zinc plated ones will be rusted within a year or 2 (less if near the coast). With the enlarged mounting holes, there is a danger of the thin washers eventually giving way when rusted - under leverage forces of that large post.

The reason for the huge holes in the easee base plate: In Norway (Easee is a Norwegian company) we have standard fundaments for light poles etc that can be buried. The holes in the base plate is matching the large bolt size of the fundament for the light poles.

The powder is used inside electrical cables to make it flexible, high thermal conductivity, moisture resistant, and fireproof. According to the capacity, applications of electrical cables, different types of powder are used, they are - Talcum Powder. Magnesium Oxide (MgO) Powder. Swellable Powder. Chalk Powder. Talcum Powder is used inside some low current-carrying cables (for example, computer power cable) to make it flexible. When this type of cable is used over a long period, its outer rubber gets sticky and can be broken down. To prevent this problem, talcum powder is used inside. Magnesium Oxide (MgO) Powder is used inside a high current carrying cables such as Mineral Insulated (MI) cables. It helps to make the cable flexible, fireproof and provides lubrication, insulation. The voltage range of this type of cable is 600-1000V. Also, Magnesium oxide has high thermal conductivity properties. When a high current flowing through a cable, heat will be produced, and it helps to prevent the damaging of the cable from the heat. Swellable Powder is used inside some electrical cables such as 6-36kV medium voltage underground power cables. When the powder comes in contact with moisture or water particles, it can form a gel-like material, which helps to solve the moisture issues in electrical cable. Chalk Powder is used inside electrical cables to make it fireproof. The voltage range of this type of cable is 300-500V. Mostly this cable is used in critical electrical circuits, such as safety circuits and life support circuits. (Electrothinks)

Just a minor tip, you're usually pretty hot on blurring customer info, but it's possible to read the Easee tag serial number for a couple of frames there. If there's any correlation between serial and the NFC ID that could make it possible for someone with a fairly cheap kit to clone the ID to another tag.

One saftey thing I noticed is while installing the new breaker, you are touching the screws on the feed side to tighten them however you haven't verified the pins you're attaching too are actually dead like you would any other possibly live source. You trust that they are since the switches are off, but you wouldn't accept that anywhere else.

Great Content 👍 With the R1+R2 on the three phase it doesn’t hurt to do the measurement to all three phases if you have the time. You are of course correct in that the purpose of the test is to ensure Earth continuity, by but doing the measurement on all 3 can verify that all the connections of all the line conductors are good as a bad connection would give a higher reading (more than 0.05Ohms in difference) It generally matters more and is more evident where the circuit is a good bit longer.

Firstly it's so sad to hear of the demise of Anderson EV, I can only assume the supply chain issues are due to lack of components and if that is the case what does that bode for other EV caring manufacturers? On to another point with hindsight the next time you fit one of these chargers in the video maybe you might want to leave the main base cover unscrewed just incase you drop another nut. As a suggestion the the manufacturers if they haven't doe so already they could fit a 6mm welded stud to the inside of the column so the connector and earth tag could be slid over the stud with an A4 grade stainless steel external star washer and nut which would give a secure fitting but as a marine grade stainless steel would not rust.

Should the charger cable earth be connected to the left earth block in the pen fault board? You have it in the right block that is connected to a different contactor to the supply. I guess only a problem if the contractors can be independently manually switched off and then you will lose the earth with the supply still connected.

@@wintersun398 you use the RFID tag supplied with the charger that has been set up on the account as an ‘admin’ or ‘manager’ can’t remember which. You go to a charger in the company group and the staff member logs into their own account, add the Original RFID tag to the account, then this allows you to add an additional rfid card to the system. Once they add their card to the system you can then delete the original Admin RFID. You only use that to link the company account, which lists all the chargers to the staff member account, the admin rfid allows this and once the two accounts are linked you can then add the staff card. You must start a charge with the staff card before removing the admin card from the staff persons account or it won’t register on the company account. This type of charger setup being what’s become the industry standard leaves the majority of disabled drivers feel ignored at best and discriminated against at worst.
