Lebron, for me, doesn't pass the eye test. He isn't like Jordan or AI or even Hakeem or Kareem. Jordan passes the eye test, everything he does is insane, he is a shooting guard with post game and also shoots 3s, enough said. AI passed the eye test. He would drain every single mid range he took and would drain leaners, fading away from mid range and then go play D on the other end, it was nuts. Hakeem invented the dream shake. Kareem used the sky hook which basically no one else uses. Eye test, eye test, eye test. Even Shaq passed it. When you watch Lebron it kinda feels like you're just watching a regular player. He's a master manipulator too, always controlling the narrative in regards to himself and his actions. The excuses portion is the most egregious to me. Most recently, right after he got swept by the nuggets, he told everyone he was retiring, so everyone would talk about that for a while, because we ALL knew he wasn't going to retire. He timed it so that people would "forget" about him and the lakers getting swept in the WCF. But everytime he loses, he never takes accountability for himself and always blames others, saying he doesn't have enough help, or always blaming the refs. But at the same time, he's the elder statesman, the self proclaimed GOAT; he needs to lead his team and set a standard for that team. Jordan and Kobe pushed his team harder than possibly anyone else in the sport, and they expected the same passion that they have. Lebron is not a leader; he just gets upset and frustrated when his teammates aren't as talented as he is. But he never goes in on his teammates, to push them and lead them. Jordan and Kobe did.

I'm not a fan of retiring jersey numbers, especially not league-wide, but in this case, it's warranted. It's one thing to wear the jersey number of a player you look up to (Alex Bregman of the Houston Astros wears number 2, because his favorite player growing up was Derek Jeter), but Lebron James clearly wears Michael Jordan's number as part of his personal crusade to elevate himself *over* Jordan. And because the sports media industrial complex has anointed James as their Great Black Messiah, other younger players are emulating him. This is why the league should retire the number, but because the league is in James' back pocket, it won't ever happen.

The whole “no help” thing is what makes me the most annoyed. When he has had no help, it’s not because of the teams he played with, but because of himself. No player has had more power in who they are surrounded by than lebron james. He got people traded away, he forces his team to make decisions. It’s lebron who left when times got rough, something jordan, curry, Kobe, and most other greats never did. But lebron sexuals will argue that it’s because they had help. But jordan didn’t have help for the many years on the bulls, neither did curry for 4-5 years on the warriors, Kobe had multiple years where he had no help. Yet the difference is they never left, they were patient and let there organization make changes and get more help while doing what’s best for the team. How does lebron play for 3 different teams, and he still never had help outside of the heatles. Maybe it’s because lebron is a arrogant and toxic player. Maybe it’s because he has spent the last half a decade only playing offense, and not trying on defense, you can pull out the highlights all day, but you can also do that with Luka doncic but people know that he doesn’t play defense. If you watch games you can see he only cares about getting statistics. This wouldn’t be a problem if everyone and their mommas weren’t glazing his longevity. As we know generally the first thing that goes with age is defense as it’s the most tiring thing to do. Pair that with everything else like flopping and boasting arrogance, I don’t know how people can call him the goat.

I was the biggest lebron fan from the moment he came to the league, all the way up until the Chip vs GSTATE. Defendiing him, fighting for his greatness. Now... I don't know if there is a bigger hater than me. From his arrogance to the way he sucks up to China, from his petty diva like behaviour, Leflopping, to a countless number of things. But the Origin of my hate is simple. "That made me the greatest." Really? You will never be better than Jordan.
@DaCommishDude Жыл бұрын
Wow this was interesting to hear. Sounds like you went through a long journey in regards to him. This day and age if someone were to put him above Jordan (which I see people do) I wouldn't consider it blasphemous. In 2016 when they tried that it was and I was disgusted. Lebron seems to me someone who wants desperately to loved as much as Jordan and is insecure or at the very least frustrated that he isn't and never will be.
@deelak2329 Жыл бұрын
@CommishDynamo see, I completely disagree with your Jordan take, respectfully. I watched Jordan and I watched lebron. To see jordan live it was something different. His ability, his dominance was something akin to scifi/fantasy fiction, and to top it all off with unmatched artistry. I was such a big lebron fan that I said from the start this man had the potential to be the second greatest of all time, coming straight from the Jordan age, I knew no one would ever touch that. But now, it's been long enough and enough generations removed that people really don't know what Jordan actually was. I always say that lebron is the best player out of all players that can be ranked. Jordan just can't be touched. I mean he could do everything. Man played point for a month in his rookie season when his pg got injured had 10 trip dubs in a row before they were popular, and damn near scored 35+ on each of them. Man came in as a rookie averaging 28 6 5, for context, those numbers are better than Kobes single MVP season. People say Kd is the greatest scorer when he only has 60 40pt games while jordan has 170 in the handcheck, flagrant foul is a common foul era. Lebron is 2, no shame in that. Although, such a distant 2 that they might as well be on different planets. Anyway, didn't mean to turn this into a lebron/jordan debate and I appreciate your reply. Love your stuff.

Great work at summarizing all the reasons. I'll add this though, his team ball annoys me because it has to be built around him for it to work, how many of his teammates can you say have improved from him. They all need to play within themselves or get relagated to spot up shooters because lbj doesnt have the nous to play off ball. Then this feeds into the no help narrative because now his all star teammates have a dip in performance because of how the team plays. Personally, I have him aroung 5 - 10. Why/how has he surpassed the likes of Kareem and Duncan

I MILLION PERCENT FACTS!!! I've been saying this for over a decade now, and it continues to fall on deaf ears!! LeBron's own style of play is the greatest impediment to his success. When they beat the Warriors, Kyrie hit the shot and then a ridiculously easy path to a title in the bubble. Just look at the teams he had to beat in the bubble.. Not exactly the toughest bunch. A cake walk!! ....and vs OKC he was facing young pups. When did he ever DOMINATE the competition??? AND HES BEEN ON SUPERTEAMS. HELL NO!!!
@robotube7361 Жыл бұрын
Why people dislike Lebron is because he never stood for anything honestly. Michael Jordan stood for hard work, intense competitivness. Jordan stood for ANY PLACE ANY TIME. Im ALWAYS GONNA BE THERE. I WILL NEVER FIND ANY EXCUSES AND I WILL SHAKE YOUR HAND IF I LOSE!!!. Michael Jordan always shook his opponent's hands when he lost even though the Pistons didnt deserve that. Michael Jordan didnt try to find any excuses when he lost to the Orlando Magic in 1995. Instead he shut his mouth and dissappeared and went to practice. Lebron never stood for ANYTHING IN HIS ENTIRE LIFE. He is doing all the things expected for an athlete of his caliber to be doing but there is no passion in his while doing those thins. We humans have some subconscious ability to pick up body language and what we call gut feeling. Out gut feeling tells us that Michael Jordan was for real all his career. Lebron was for real several games in his life. The rest he played on auto pilot. The man simply isnt there. Lebron sounds insincere and he is a big softie. When his feelings got hurt and got heckled what he did? He turned out in cry baby mode and said something among these lines: "Those people who comment bad things about me will go home to their ordinary lives while Ill still be a superstar " This press conference and him walking away like a lil bitch cemented him in my eyes as someone who allows his emotions and people's oppinions to get to him easily. You cant respect someone who uses tactics, changes gears, uses team politics, uses his influence to go over coach's heads and speak directly to management. You cant respect somoene who changes teams when things dont go his way. Michael Jordan, no matter how much power he had he never abused it. He listened to his coach, he was disciplined worker and he always loved to compete. There was always that spark in Jordan's eye when somoene tries to challenge him. He would smile, and accept the challenge. He accepted everyones challenges. Even front row hecklers. Lebron would just complain to the judge to remove the heckler. These little things and many more like these little things are cementing a player's image in the popular psyche.

The biggest thing that made me stop caring about Lebron was The Decision and the China comments. Imagine flaming an entire fan base, essentially calling them lame, sad and pathetic and doing it in the most self serving manner possible. I don’t even think winning a title would have made me forgive him if I was a Cleveland fan. To embarrass and completely destroy something I love and support and give my hard earned money to is pretty low. People will say the media did the lifting for him, but he still said by agreeing to that pathetic spectacle. China is self explanatory. I have said it for years….they are not our friends. Anyone who sucked up to that country is just pathetic in my books. You sold your soul for something as fake as money. Just like the golfers who cucked themselves for Saudi Arabia to butt blast them with batter bombs, bowing to China is low and a sign of poor character.

Kareem complained alot and he actually punched a pillar and did break his hand and it caused his team to miss the playoffs.
