The album as a whole conveys a powerful message. The track before the outro, “Now and Then,” perfectly encapsulates its essence. This is a phenomenal album and a true testament to HipHop. It’s definitely better than KD1 & Magic 2. Imo those are the 2 weakest albums in Nas’s last run. Magic 1 & 3. And KD 2 & KD 3 are the most well received out of that run. Off of one spin I would say KD 3 & Magic 3 are the only 2 albums that can stand next to Common’s album production wise. I would give Nas the slight edge tho based on his mic performance, energy, & lyricism on Magic 3 & KD3. Common was a little too calm for me on this album. A slight nitpick. Overall it just feels good to even be discussing guys that have been making albums for 30+ years.

This album is solid but nowhere close to "Let Love", "A Beautiful Revolution Vol.1", "The Dreamer The Believer" or even "Black America Again" (which are 4 HIGHLY underrated albums). Not even speaking about August Greene project, which was dope. And obviously, cannot be compared to Common's classic albums LWFC and Be (and arguably Resurrection). IMO, plenty of average beats that won't stand the test of time (nothing here at the level of Edo G's "Boston", Skyzoo's "Eastern Conference All Stars" or Ye&Jay's "The Joy"). "Now and Then" is the standout track besides all the singles already released. "So Many People" is great but sound like a Bilal-only song that could have been on his unreleased album (Love For Sale). "Stellar" sounds awful to my ears (like what he did with Pharrell on UMC). "We're On Our Way" could have been flipped in a so much better way. Sample is great, congas are dope, it just sounds unfinished. "Fortunate", Lonesome", "Everything's So Grand", "A GOD" sound like fillers and are forgettable. "When The Sun Shines Again" is boring and the high-pitched voices in the chorus are awful. Common has already done plenty of this kind of "uplifting" songs with a way better result ("Optimistic", "My Fancy Free Future Love", "What Do You Say", "A Place In This World"). Overall and so far, I give it a 3.5 out of 5.
