The only product I use in my ultrasonic tank for carburetors is a solution of 8:1 distilled water and Simple Green Pro HD which is purple in color. It will not darken your carbs like the regular simple green does. I learned that the hard way that using regular simple green in my tank!

As you have probably found, the heating element is just a supplement as the ultrasonic transducer really heats up the item to be cleaned as well. They are a great tool! It s best to just prepare your solution, set the final temp required and start it up. Within a reasonable time period it should be up to temperature.

Great video, interesting results. I'm not surprised about the heating element not being up to the task, in your situation. I believe the specs say it is a 200 watt heater ang the cleaner and lid are basically a giant heat sink and you're heating 2 gallons of fluid. That is incredibly energy intensive. The heater and transducers are able to heat the fluid fairly well at around 60F (15C) They do now offer a better version with the black panel that has I believe twice the wattage on the heater. Considering the volume of the fluid and the fact that it is not completely insulated, it probably needs more like 1000 - 1500 watts to get the temp up quickly, when in a cold area. If the unit was perfectly insulated with no heat escaping at all, it would take 800 watts for an hour to heat that much water from 10C (50F) to 80C ( 176F)

You have to be careful with Dawn and other soaps on alloys like magnesium. I personally use ethanol free gas with 2 stroke oil to clean. In the event you get water in a passage or soap residue it can oxidize and destroy the carb. I use the gas in a plastic jar inside the cleaner with a brick on top. When using heat it can cause o rings and check valves to swell and destroy them. LOve my ultrasonic. It runs 12 hours a day!

You’ve discovered what I’ve known for years. Pinesol is AMAZING. You don’t even need to heat it. I don’t ever as I don’t have an ultra sonic that heats. I usually just soak the carbs over night and it takes care of any bs in the carb.

Thanks for the video, I went out to Dollar General and picked up 2 gallons of Pine Sol yesterday. I ran it at 80C, for about 2 hours, rotating every 30 minute cycle. It wasn't as clean as I wanted and discovered the carburetor I was cleaning was actually distorted by a fire and was garbage, but I wanted to see how well it would clean if I let soak over night. I haven't gone out to the shop to check on it... I think you should open that machine up I bet you will find a wire off your heater or something simple.

I’ve always had pretty good luck with just soaking carbs in vinegar overnight without heating it and then just cleaning it off with a little brake cleaner. It probably would work better hot or in the ultrasonic but it would probably be kind of expensive running that all night. It’s just an idea to try with the accelerator pump part off the bike carb if you’re still struggling with that

Finally got it by applying heat from a small propane torch and smacking it on a flat piece of metal. The heat expanded the aluminum enough that it alliwed all the tiny check ball components to pop out with the shock of slapping it down hard.

Before I bought my ultrasonic cleaner, which I use mainly for carburetors, I used to boil the carbs in a pressure cooker on top of my stove with a 50/50 mixture of Pine Sol and water for 30 minutes. Works VERY well that way.... Carbs came out literally looking NEW 👌 EDIT: Make SURE you open some windows, and ventilate your house VERY WELL if you do that though, or the eventuall build-up of Pine Sol smell will get VERY STRONG and end up taking your breath away. I'm SURE its not a good idea to breathe that smell in. It goes away fast with windows open though.

Acids are bad for Aluminum and should be avoided. Use a strong solution of simple green for aluminum. For iron parts dishwasher detergent (powdered) works very well and is also very cheap. You really have to tailor the solution to what type of metal it is you are cleaning so that you don't do damage to the parts.

I think he says 2 gallon. The size you choos depends of the size what you will clean ! If you heat the water + chemestry the big size will take longer timer. even if the heater is more powerful. Smaller size = less gallon water and you can heat up in shorter time. But the bigger size is not murch stronger with the ultrasonic wave. Smaller size and you are the winner ! If you choose more agressive chemestry the result will be better. But be careful with aluminuim. You have to choose the right chemestry. If you buy ultrasonic cleaning fluid you hve to pay a lot more. But it will be better. More gallon and it will be expensiver for you. Mor gallon and you have to change a lot dirty water and chemestry. Smaler ultrasonic and you have less dirty water volume. Ok if you buy industrial ultrasonic cleaner size will matter a lot. Only you own mixture will be cheap. See industrial ultrasonic cleaners and you find different types. Read why. You get better results if you use solvent (gasoline/diesel) and preclean the carburator. Bette the greas and dirt from the outside is away (before I open the carburator... .. It is clean at the outside! = Less dirt in the water and less dirt than in the carburator from the outside) Air to blow the gsoline/diesel away and a closer look at the carb. If I find some broken parts or other faults ... Than I open the carb. Rub away the gasket. closer inspection . But the carb in the water+chemestry and heat water and carb up. Only if I have to safe time I use hot water from the kitchen. The thermal shock is harder with the hot water. (If I have a historic carb ... No good idea) Than I start ultrasonic 15 to 20 minutes. If the carburator is it worth ... ... it is worth to spend money for industrial ultrasonic cleaner fluid. Cheap carburator (or other part) and my water-chemestry will be fine and cheap. Best ultrasonic is when you have a distnce between bottom and part from 1/4 inch or more. Worse when you but the carburator direct at the stainless bottom. If I want to safe money for the expensive industrial ultrasonic fluid , I use ... - a pouche / small back with less volume or - a plastic jar than I have the water in the us-cleaner with high volume and low volume industrial cleaner in the jar or bag. After the first 20 minutes let the ultrasonic cool down the transducer and the generator electronic. Often I clean it again 10 to 20 minutes. CRest you see in the video. Nice video, well done.

Have a similar one, heaters seems to be a joke no matter the brand. Gallon of brake clean from auto store should be $25, but my go to now is either gasoline or diesel. Cheap, effective, just leave the heater off and run it for max time. 5 or 6 hours in the ultra is worth it if all you have to do is dust it off with air .

The idea of that volume of gasoline in an electrical appliance makes me cringe! Ovbiously, you wouldnt want to use the heater, but the chance of something going wrong with the rest of the electrics that could cause a spark is a cause of concern, especially considering the dubious quality of these chinese units. Maybe someday I will try it way outside of the building on a long extension cord.

In order water and dish soup. Didn't work well. Then Pinesol, which worked pretty good. Then Lemon juice didn't work that well, but was better than soup and water however it did react to aluminum. The Vinegar wasn't that effective and from personal experience, vinegar can attack some types of aluminum. Then came Simple Green, which we are not told if it was diluted and personal experience even when cut 4 to 1 with water, still reacts with aluminum. Pinesol worked the best, but again, the author didn't tell us if we cut the Pinesol with water or not.

What size ultrasonic cleaner is that? Bummer that the heating feature turned out to be a gimmick, maybe yours is defective, but I wouldn't count on it.. These companies tend to have zero concern about misleading their customers, and those shady companies/sellers are getting thousands of sales per month. These platforms have little care whether you're a good seller or not, they will black out listings from good small sellers in favor of bad mega sellers.
@callishandy8133

The manufacturer know better than us what is right. If the heater is weak the regulation is better. You fill preheated water-chemestry in the ultrasonic. For some parts (historic parts you can not find anywhere) it is better to heat it up slowly. Some parts are not for higher temperatures. If the heating is a gimmick, than a other chinease company is there a sell better heating ultrasonics. The weak heating companys will be soon from the market. But you find no high watt heating. There is a reason. And normally you dont use these device never in a cold environment. By the way = professional mvery big ultrasonics are never switched of (maybe at the weekend). The keep 24 houres a constant temperature. They only switch the ultrasonic on. They have no strong heater inside for that big water volume. They will switch on there gimmick heating and after 1 minute off. Fine regulation of the temperature. Some parts dont like to high temperatures for 10 secounds and than 4 minutes the heating is off.

Yes have a couple of the same ones of ultra sonic cleaners ordered a big one and they ended up sending a small one!!! I called them and told them that they sent the wrong one and would like the size one that I ordered!!! They said no problem they would send one out Wright away!! I asked them if they was going to send a shipping label to send the one that they originally sent!!?? They said no that it wouldn’t be worth the shipping cost to have it shipped back and that I could keep it also!!! When I run mine it will only run as long as the amount of time that I set it to!!! I will run it for max time and max on the temp setting!!! As soon as it goes off I will reset the temp and time to max again!!! I will do it 3 or 4 times!!! Mine seamed to only go up in temp when I had it running!!! I have found that changing the cleaning solution after cleaning what ever I was cleaning after the first cleaning of the items!!! The solutions would definitely be very dirty!!! But after the first cleaning the solution would definitely be down graded and not even half the cleaning solution power!!! I used mine for cleaning carbs also!!! We tried the simple green and purple power and yes they would work but they would leave the parts a slimy slick coating on them!!! But after cleaning everything I always would rinse all the parts off with warm water!!! Yes I would definitely have to use gloves because it would definitely get pretty hot!!! We then baught a gallon of the cleaning solution that they recommended for ultra sonic cleaners and it would definitely work the best but at 20.00$ to close to 30.00$ a gallon and having to change after each thing or a whole carb I only tried a gallon!!! I have also found that the next best thing to clean a carb from regular carb dip that you can buy from a parts store is pure lemon juice and not diluted!!! Although lemon juice will dis color the carbs!!!! Well hopefully that helps out or maybe you have already figured out everything already!!!! And yes lemon juice I always clean everything Wright away and then rinse off with hot water!!! Definitely don’t soak anything to long in lemon juice or it will eat the parts up pretty quickly!!!!

Most of the ultra sonic cleaners do not heat very well. If the ambient temperature is in the 70-80's slightly better.. Typically you heat the liquid and the parts that you are planning cleaning. Setup a box or some container and a small room heater.

Your ultrasonic cleaner might've taken a long time to heat up if the components you put in it were cold.

@@misfittoys8883 I really love the look of that car! I am trying to save up enough for a beater version of that car. Everyone wants an arm and a leg for ones that are pretty rough. I like the coupes as well but the body lines of that car is my favorite. Thanks for that video on cleaning the carbs. I have a 78F250 with a 750 Holley that I am going to clean up. Thanks for answering

Only reason I own that car is I got it way back in 89 when they were still all over the place and fairly cheap. I couldnt even begin to afford one now. Same deal with the early Broncos I have- got them when they were cheap and all over the place

Couple of things about ultrasonic cleaners. Read the manual. I have the same model and have no issues. Heaters are towards the top, and in the beginning of your video, your water level is lower than the heaters. States in the manual where the water level needs to be. Also, the ultrasonic action will warm the water so just fill up to proper level with hot water and start it up. Another thing is the ultrasonic waves come from the bottom and go up so whatever is facing down will be cleaned the best. With carbs like those, you do one cycle then flip them. Also, the cheap pos basket actually reduces the waves somewhat. I use copper wire and usually suspend what I am cleaning and do not really use the basket. My stuff comes out clean, like new. As for that small check valve, put it in a glass jar with the valve facing down (no air pockets) and add penetrating oil in the jar. Put a tight lid on the jar and have at it for 20 minutes. It will free it up. I honestly love me Vevor.

Interesting stuff. Next time I use mine, I will try the suspension trick. I did end up getting the check ball freed up with an easy application of a small propane torch
