Lots of great tips Fit of our clothes are so important It’s not a bad thing to size up Clothing lines all run different And..no one knows what size you have on but you! The fit is way more important than size!!!

I have that Amazon cable knit turtleneck sweater in three colors. I LOVE it!! I struggle with the concept of different length pants because anything cropped too short makes me look so dumpy unless I am wearing heels. I continue to wear my full length jeans because they make my legs look their best. I think a big mistake people make is to buy trendy clothes with no thought to how they look on - not every body type is flattered by every trend.

The tip about fit is so true. I worked in retail/women’s clothing for a number of years, and trying to get women to even consider a larger size was very tricky. Just because you CAN get into a garment doesn’t mean you should wear it, or that it actually fits.

I am 5'2" and the problem with petites is sometimes you do have to go up a size but not always. So frustrating. Sometimes it's better to order 2 sizes and send 1 back.

I’m 70 and love julien mcdonald….he has different length trousers which I always find helpful as I can’t be doing with alterations…when somethings for petite the whole garment is usually in proportion. 🌸

Thanks for your information. I’d like to ask about pant lengths. What length do you suggest if your Need to wear walking shoes (travel in college spring weather.). If I wear ankle length with no show socks and walking shoes I get cold. I need my ankles covered. So what do you suggest in this instance.? I would wear pants that cover your ankles so you can’t see your socks, but I don’t want to look old and frumpy.

Do you know where to find shorter-leg trousers with an 10 or 11-inch rise? Petites are always too low-rise for me, I only need shortening in the legs, not the body (not the best proportions, but what I happened to get in the genetic lottery, poor me). I love it when your beautiful kitty visits!

Hi Kimberly. I would suggest that you have your trousers shortened, to be honest, so that they are just the right length. It's an endless problem for me at 5'4" and I often have to take mine to the tailor. That's why I like River Island and brands that do different lengths, but even then, they can be too long! I think a tailor is the answer if you just need the legs shortening rather than any different proportions. XX My cat sends you her love! She adores her fans!! XX

Interested in your watch. I have a small wrist and wonder if that size watch would be ok? I can't seem to find anywhere that you can go and try them on. Would also need an adjustment in fit as well. Some interesting learning. I tend to wear a red top with jeans - not sure how I'm going to change that as red trousers aren't easy to find. What might you recommend I do?

Great video, Deirdre! Love all your tips! I hate looking at old photos where I'm wearing capris! I've gotten rid of them all thankfully! Now that winter is upon us and it's getting quite frigid here I'd love your take on outerwear to be both stylish and warm! I was hoping to find a video from you today. You are always so warm and bubbly. I think a terrible fashion mistake can be with makeup (too heavy of an eyebrow, super thick false eyelashes, too much concealer, and overdoing it with lip liner) and nail polish if it's chipped or growing out. Some of my fashion mistakes have been in pant length and I cringe to think of a few years ago when I wore capri pants eeekkkkk. I also use to wear the wrong colors. Hi there. I think it really depends on your colouring, if you are warmer toned or cooler toned. But, a lovely option is a paler blue shirt with a pair of jeans - all in the same colour tone - or navy if your jeans are darker. XX

Im glad you mentioned wearing the same colour palette as I always preferred it on me - I do get fed up of the lack of colour in my wardrobe as being olive skinned & dark haired I tend to stick to cool tones, a lot of black grey & navy in my wardrobe, try to find colours that are blue undertoned rather than yellow

You are SO RIGHT ON in all of your fashion advice! And as usual, you touch on at least one issue I never considered (this time, it’s to let a little ankle show when wearing flats)! I will say, I actually like the skinny jeans that were too long. I think it’s because I was a teen in the early 70s, super tall and skinny, and could NEVER find trousers that were long enough and fit. I even once sewed myself a pair of striped pants with lots of length and made the stripes go horizontal! Too, I would sometimes steal my brother’s pants because they were long (infuriated him to discover me in our school hall)!

Love the all-white, or nearly white, look. I would love a white cotton sweater like that, but that one would be too long for me. Cropped ones are just right on me, just covering the waistband, but Amazon styles are always years behind, like with these long sweaters. That length, especially in such a bulky knit, wouldn’t flatter me at all. I would love for you to feature brands like Lily Silk, COS or Quince, sadly no Arket delivery here in the US, thanks.

Acrylic wool doesn't itch, I have a phobia with itchy wool garments coming from a childhood itchy hand knitted jumper with matching itchy pixie hat! I have 1 wool, lined jacket, have to wear a soft scarf. In Auckland it is not super cold so can leave the Merino wool.
