Greenfield Guitars

Күн бұрын

On his visit to Montréal to play the Greenfield Guitars Shop Concert Series in July of 2012, Andy McKee stopped by the workshop to record a few videos. Here he is playing the a demo model of my model GF. As usual, you are listening to the artist, the guitar and a single mic in the bench room of my workshop. Live, off the floor. There are no pickups being used. The sound is pure. Enjoy!

Holy crap Andy McKee is just too freakin good. Surely the government is going to step in soon and say it's illegal to play this well. Anarchy will ensue, babies will cry, cats and dogs will fall from the sky, and the skies will turn a deep purple. And it'll all be because Andy McKee rocks too hard.

I always imagine riding in a steam train up and down hills, when I listen to this song - the build up is the train going uphill, while the loud strumming part is the train picking up speed going downhill. Woohoo!

For some reason, this song reminds me of driving in the car as a passenger, looking out the window watching the rain fall as the scenery goes by! I would call this song"Driving Rain".

I love the slight modifications Andy's made to this song over the years. The album version is fairly straight forward, while what's played here has a lot of embellishments that has more of a flowing sound, and the dynamics only add to that. That raking across the strings during the chorus is just way too cool. This is easily my favorite recording of anything I've heard from him.

I've listened to this shit when this dude was real young and have listened to him play it over the years. The song slowed down a bit over the years and he plays it less aggressively. And man does it sound better!! He was awesome when younger too but more aggressive and played faster.

Believe it or not, that's one of the easier parts as for a lot of the epic sounding parts. The most difficult part to learn about this song is speed/timing. The hardest part for me is the 2 chords around :15 and the other few times you do it. The timing on those rolls is really tight. The only other part I haven't figured out is the pretty section (1:00) before the breakout, I get through it, but I have no idea how to get it to sing quite as nicely there.
