I think the rear wheel bearing issue has more to do with the undertorqued rear axles from the factory that are ignored by owners. If the rear axle nut TSB is not performed soon enough the wheel bearing will go bad due to the play from the loose nut. Never heard of the rear rotor heat issue.
@dverdin557 жыл бұрын
DIYGuys thanks! I forgot to mention the rear axle nut issue. I'll be sure to mention it in part 2. The rear rotor heat thing is something I was looking into for a while. This is why companies are offering vented rear rotors for the car. That and it helps with brake fade. I'll look more in to it just in case haha

My 04 with 210k miles never had these 5 problems yet. Dirty clutch fluid made clutch master cylinder go bad but now I change fluid often. Trunk wires usually go bad since there is no slack. Amsoil fixed the notch feel...

Well done dude! All the very best do what you can content wise as your DIY's are always so clear and consise and very much appreciated but above all else take care of you! If you ever want to do a major road trip head up to Toronto and we'll put some of that knowledge to good use in getting my AP1 back into tip top shape...until then take care, stay healthy and thank you again for your shared education and time.

On ap1s valve retainers and banjo bolts should be replaced for ap2 versions, and that should be the no1 preventative maintenance to make

Good informative video, the only thing you were missing was the dreaded soft top tears. Unbeknownst to me I bought my AP2 with an OEM hardtop and never checked the soft top for signs of wear, a year later of lowering/rising and I can see daylight 360 throughout the car practically.

Thank you! I couldn't get everything down on one video because it would've been too long haha. There will be a part 2!

that's not an issue that due more to poor maintenance you have to put a UV coating on your top after you wash it every few weeks.

MY04 is perfect 😉. I change trans fluid every other oil change. The only issue I've herd of is the timing chain tensioner which isn't a big deal.. My cousin has an 00 with 100k+ miles and tracks 3-4 times a year as do I with mine. No issues..

Useful--thanks. My '06 is super-sweet but do notice the shift-notchiness you talk about. I know the MTF is good but I'm interested in what's involved in re-greasing the shifter itself with the Honda urea grease. Is that easy, advanced, or shop? What does it require in terms of work?
@stephenpeacock85926 жыл бұрын
It's easy enough, check out the s2ki forum for a "how-to". Make sure you use the Urea grease. You can replace the plastic interface cap (?) as well. Also check your clutch slave cylinder and grind the build up off the ball (again, a search on s2ki will make this clear).

Not a mechanical issue but a very common issue with the S2K is the softtop tearing because of the rubbing of the support bar. Too bad OEM hardtops are hard to come by 😩

isn't it bad to move coilpacks to the wrong cylinder?
@dverdin554 жыл бұрын
No. You can swap coil packs to verify if the coil pack is not working. I.E. misfire detected on cylinder 1. Swap the cylinder 2 coil with cylinder 1. If the pack is bad you will see that you have a misfire now in cylinder 2 while cylinder 1 will be working properly. It won't damage the motor but it will help you find the bad coil pack. I think what you are referring to is if you swap the coil with the harness still attached to the wrong cylinder. That would be very bad

shifter rebuild (super easy to do) fixed 80% of that notch feel you only need a few parts ...do not buy the parts from amazon they are what over priced there even for prime members...tct you can upgrade to the billman unit that has a life time warranty.
