True. English is not our first language, so mistakes happen. We need to correct them when we catch them. Bindu, if I may, instead of saying 'What all you spoke is right', you should say 'All that you spoke about is correct.' I have made several videos on common mistakes. Do check them out.

I don't know usha ma'am. If this is the level of mistakes being made by 'english' teachers, schools need to review how they short list language teachers. They r blasphemy level blunders, not 'common' at all

Some of them are alarmingly common Sehej like myself this side, and explain you. Most have been taken from observations and internet teacher errors. Ofcourse, there are teachers who are excellent, and this video is not for them. But trust me these errors are quite common.

Hello ma’am I appreciate the way you’re explaining these things. At 15:20 “If anything damages…” here, it might have been said that “to damage” is a TRANSITIVE verb and therefore will need an object, which (i.e.the object) has been already mentioned (“anything” is the object), therefore the sentence construction must be in PASSIVE VOICE. But, I cannot understand why the explanation got complicated and took a turn towards the topic of CONDITIONAL Sentences. Furthermore, at 18:15 “because that is something that we OWE TO our children.” Yes, it’s quite obvious that the teachers do have to practise a lot to “over-learn” the correct sentences. So, Kindly keep the good work on and let me know if I need improvement. I really appreciate your knowledge and efforts from the core of the heart. Thanks.
@TheMindspringsEnglishTeacher
@TheMindspringsEnglishTeacher Жыл бұрын
The explanation is not at all complicated, it is correct. I have furthermore done all the conditionals in this video. You have complicated the question with a lot of grammatical items that are clearly wrong. If you could use a sentence as example, I might be able to understand your query better. You do need a lot of improvement, especially if you teach.

At 0:31, why would it be "one of the things that concerns me" and not "one of the things that concern me". Although the latter sounds odd, I thought of it as "one of + things that concern me", the verb concern should agree with things, hence be conjugated in the plural form, rather than agreeing with "one", which is singular. I'm only learning so an explanation would be greatly appreciated.

'The mistakes I am going to talk about today' is correct. Or are you asking if ' The mistakes I am going to talk about today is a mistake'? That is also grammatically correct. You have written is a mistakes (plural) which is incorrect. After the article 'a' , you can only use the singular not plural noun.

What is imprecise about prefacing a video on the whys and wherefores of teachers taking the trouble to work on their mistakes? If you have observed as many teachers as I have, and despaired at similar mistakes they make and repeat, you would not find 3/ 18 minutes such a gargantuan waste of time to roll your eyes on. The following sentence of yours causes concern. HE THOUGHT IF I CRY MY MOTHER WILL BE SAD. That should be: He thought," If I cry, my mother will be sad. Eg: If I am crying (when my mother comes) my mother will get upset. Please comment.

Thanks for creating yet another id to obssess over this video. :))) A word of advice: Do not use capitals on other people's comments as it is the equivalent of shouting and is rude. Calm down. I am doing spoken English here, so structure, not punctuation was my concern. Indirect speech would mar the immediacy of the utterence hence it is not used. If I were teaching direct to indirect grammar in writing, your comments would have been valid. Alas! A lost opportunity here. As for your present continuous tense with if and when clauses coming together in a mixed conditional. I have concentrated on the 4 main conditionals here because I am talking to people who make mistakes. There are several more conditional structures. If you want the present continuous let me show you. If they are studying let us not disturb them. (present continuous + present) If the stock market is crashing, then the economy is crashing too. (present continuous + present continuous) You have tried to introduce a when clause in addition. In your sentence, I would add the word 'still' to show that mother is aware of the crying, otherwise the upset makes no sense. When mother comes, if I am crying, she would rush to me to find out why. :))) Do not lose meaning and intention in your eagerness to do grammar. So your sentence I'd change to: When mother comes, if I am still crying, she will be upset. Now, it makes sense.
