I have RAM in a system from 1981 that still works and it passes a memory test every time it starts up, and not a typical PC RAM test, but a RAM test that takes no prisoners.

I noticed my pcs performance dipped drastically. I looked and found out that my pc was saying I only had 8gb of ram even though I have two stick of 16gb of ram. I did some stuff and now task manager says I have two sticks of 8gb of ram or 16 total. Does anybody know how to fix this?

Im no expert so im here to ask. If i go to bios and enable XMP my pc goes to error blue screen then shutdown then back to default speed frequency?

For the most part yes, you should also check with your motherboard manufacturer to see what they listed in the QVL (Qualified Vendor List) which normally have timings and profiles tested as compatible. Question, is it also a RAM issue when my screen/monitor seemed to turn OFF and whatever I was watching stops too (no more sound)? BUT the light on keyboard and mouse stays ON, I try restarting my PC and it won’t even boot up, but when Ieave it for several minutes, it boot up and start Windows, the time screen/montior seemingly turn OFF varies, I was wondering if anyone had the same problem and if it was solved by replacing the RAM

Hi there thank you for your comment. If you have already tried the suggestions in this video as well as checking the physical components in and around it such as your GPU and PSU, perhaps your best bet is to consult with the computer manufacturer for further diagnosis as well as consulting with a local Computer Repair shop.

@MaxBraver555 - My son's 3 year old build of a system with a Ryzen 9 5950X started doing the same thing. I took it away to test and found the Ryzen 9 5950X was the problem. Lucky he had a Ryzen 5 5600G to swap in and it worked perfectly. I swapped the Ryzen 9 5950X back in a few times & it would eventually fail again. Also be sure to clear the CMOS and set up the BIOS again.

I’m a bit late but my ram stick shakes when I touch it, is my ram not installed properly I couldn’t find anything that says if this is wrong or not but games believe my pc is a lot weaker than it is such as a game thought I had less than 8gb of ram but I have 16 gbs

I'm going crazy, I can't seem to find the issue with my pc. If anyone knows the solution PLEEAAASE HELP. I have been using the same pc for a year. Here are the specs: Gpu: Asus Dual rad Rx 6700 xt Cpu Intel I5-13400F MB: Asus rog strix b760 A Ram: Kingston fury 16gb ddr4 3200 Ssd: 2tb Kingston Psu: Sharkoon WPM Gold ZERO 750W It ran all the games perfectly fine for since I build it, which was a year ago. I decided to download minecraft, bedrock and java kept crashing and I couldn't figure out why, sound cut off, and then crashes randomly while playing. Out of all games, it only happened on Minecraft. It all went downhill from there. Then my video players started acting weird, freezes but not for long, after I refresh page it comes back. Then chrome started shutting off, or give me a error mesaage with "oops something went wrong" same as the video player, when I refresh it comes back. Now I can't start games, like cod, it just crashes on startup or wont survive 2 minutes when it does start. While troubleshooting, I tried different things, clearign cashes, checking updates, etc ALL the basic things one would have to check, I have been all over the internet so nothing worked. I checked for viruses etc. While doing this I met my first blue screen, something went wrong message and pc decided to reboot. I decided to check the hardware, since no fixes from software worked. I resocketed my memory sticks, it froze when I decided to give it a nudge (yes this is dumb to do when the pc is on but I was mad at this point) it was a gentle touch. It still works tho, it didn't short out or anything. The problem is still here though I know it is a long text and thank you for reading, please if you know a solution, help me. I would be so grateful. My last hope is getting new memory sticks, 32gb this time but I don't want to spend money for nothing if my memory isn't the issue. Maybe a faulty psu unit? But that would give me drastic problems was my guess, like fully shut off from nowhere etc.

Thankfully memory is volatile (meaning it loses its contents when power is lost) so it can't "wear out" like SSD. Providing the memory is compatible, configured in the BIOS correctly (XMP is your friend!) and your PC is not an inch deep in dust - it should last many many years if not decades. Typically you'd replace the PC before you replace the memory!

I agree. If it hasn't been in extreme temperatures or other bad environmental issues. The memory should last decades. I built a PC in 2012. It was in use 24/7 for a decade. I sent that computer to a friend and he has been using it 24/7 for another year with the same memory.

Ram problems from newbies I`ve learned Improper voltage = unstability the voltage is in the sticker of your ram or activate XMP Bad memory placement 1st populate 2 and 3, only 1 stick? most boards will tell you populate no. 4 still in trouble? UPDATE TO THE LATEST BIOS.
