Interesting message. Thank you. Why the photo of a hoarder kitchen? Is this the state of our messed up souls?
@msdebra2138 ай бұрын
That's what I'm trying to figure out. Unless they're trying to link hoarding to either a) depression, which can often be present in hoarders or b) being desirous of material things, which imo isn't really fair or kind.

Attachments to things of this world
@msdebra2138 ай бұрын
@@aymeesretep8754 If that's true, it's really unkind. Hoarding is a sign of an underlying mental disorder, usually depression, and not an indicator of a moral shortcoming. Shaming these people does nothing to help overcome their problem and is just downright mean.
@GemGemMarie21628 ай бұрын
@@msdebra213, attachment to material stuff (abundantly so) and haording are in my opinion two different things. I don't think they were referring to haording, which I agree is a mental health issue. Someone here on KZbin did a video on why she got rid of all her high end handbags and shoes, accessories that she collected especially anything that had a logo. She gave a few reasons why but mainly it was weighing her down and all consuming of her time. Her space was impeccable, most hoarders are very very messy some don't do alot of shopping they just NEVER get rid of stuff or put things away.
@itsgettingold8 ай бұрын
The thumbnail choice mystifies me. The talk is partly focused on attachment to temporal things. A hoarder's environment is not about attachment to things. Hoarding is virtually always a symptom of unresolved & unarticulated trauma. Not mental illness, but a deep and unhealed mental injury. Hoarding reflects, almost always, trauma associated with loss that is not reconciled. A person who hoards is not a person actively or callously rejecting God's love, as this talk implies. More likely, the person is closed off emotionally and detached as a survival mechanism. Good talk, but really dislike the clickbait thumbnail.

The title says "reasons", but there is really only ONE reason for not becoming a saint. And that reason is choosing your own will over the will of God for your life. That is always and only the reason, nothing else.

It is really simple: Jesus said to 'be perfect as the Father is perfect.' Saints? You bet!! Is it easy? No!! Not at all. Was Jesus always fed? Well rested? Valued by those He cared for? Why do we assure ourselves that saintly lives are beyond us? Are we scared that we are right??

i am obssessed with conflict since a child. It is a lot of what I see. Good and evil, 'left' vs 'right' etc. It tires me, but there is a part of me that loves it because in the end it can bring me an early end. Not suicidal. I just have nothing for me in my life. But a the same time I hate it. In my heart, I want people to love Him and each other and adore Him above al things but they mainly don't and it leaves a chasm between my relationship between my fellow man that I cannot fix. How do you not love Truth? or Him? How can you not pursue Truth? How can you deny Him?

Friar is correct. :Listening to this will not improve your life. It is only information. In fact, many will be affected negatively by listening, because our culture wants only positive theological messages. Nothing about hell or damnation, nothing about repentance and reparation, near occasions of sin - Never discussed. Our Churches in the NO do not give these types of talks. It’s what our young men need to hear. Blow up your computer. I am surrounded by “Catholics” and i often pray b/c we are so far apart on what we believe as Catholics.

For those of us still suffering from either personality disorders or the effects of any form of child abuse, asking us to trust God 100% and do meditations are asking for the almost impossible. We are still wounded inside and the wounds and their effects have never been healed. The healing of that abuse and those personality disorders must come first...not last. They come first. Otherwise hope is lost for us.

I recommend the Unbound ministry. It’s a beautiful Catholic ministry that seeks to heal the wounded through Christ. This was a great talk for sure but like you said , there are situations where the context is more than simply a persons not trying hard enough to give up their sin . Both can be true in a person. Hence the need for talks like this and for catholic healing ministries like Unbound
