I have mentioned this in a few comments, new to reselling, I just sold my 8th item yesterday, shipped it this morning! Yay! It's been really slow since Christmas. I did initial investment of Rollo Printer + Scale (amazing! love it) and we used the tape gun a time or two and were like no we need dispensers and you recommended the 3" tape, lifechanger! So I have 2 dispensers 1 with 2" and one with 3" and rollo printed easy as pie labels!!!!!!! Makes this a pretty easy little side job, thanks for all the tips throughout the years. Glad to finally be joining the scene.

I was seeing my listings now and then starting around July. I deleted my entire fb back in October, so I have no idea anymore. Ebay and my customers require ME to be FACTUAL, I see a conflict. Just saying.

I list the same thing on eBay as I list on FB Marketplace. Marketplace has been REALLY good for me when clearing out our large storage unit here in Miami. Have met the NICEST people when they come to pick up. The only time FB Marketplace makes a % is when I ship things sold there - which is a SMALL % of all the things I’ve sold there.

Not surprising, Kevin turns out to be a pretty good stock analyst. As an experienced investor, I can say that buying and selling stocks allows you to make a lot more money than buying and selling Tupperware and video games, but it's definitely not as much fun. But the principles of both are the same - what is this really worth, how much might someone be willing to pay for it?

Attempting to learn more about online selling. Recently "inherited" a bunch of German figurines and occupied Japan stuff, that have some value. I have been a long time facebook marketplace buyer, but have been unable to set up shipping for some reason. Apparently many people have this problem. I like the flat 10% fee that they charge, in relation to ebay fees. Hopeful to sell off these boxes and go back to just being a buyer. Can't see going through all the efforts to learn multiple platforms, especially with a full time job.

eBay wants you to share your listing. Gives you a few choices. No Facebook yet. I have not shared. I don’t need anymore fees. I just sell my own things.

One thing that makes me nuts on Facebook is clicking to enlarge an image on FB, and FB sends a message to an advertiser that I DID NOT SEND. (sponsored listing on Marketplace stupidity) If they want to put those outside ads in the marketplace there needs to be a double-check built in that should be there now. (and isn't) Did the person mean to click an ad or just click an IMAGE to see it better? Charging sellers for sales from outside ads that the seller doesn't control and didn't authorize directly is already something Etsy pulls. Oh, and if the item clicked on doesn't sell but something else does, they charge you anyway. The seller can't opt out of the ads. Seller's items aren't showing in ads anywhere but they did before? Seller pays a fee anyway. Will eBay pull something like that? I would not be surprised.

We all know how wishy-washy Facebook marketplace buyers are, thus my main concern is that that behavior will cross over into eBay and we’ll have more returns and more negative feedback. What are y’all‘s thoughts?

My take is that you are referring to Facebook buyers who are local. These transactions would be taking place on eBay and normal eBay buying behavior would be expected. More sales may mean more returns and more negative feedback but only because you would have more sales. Most of the wishy washy you speak of is because of the poor methods used on marketplace. Contact, agreement, location of pick up, backing out, selling to someone else first. Most of that would not occur because the sale would occur on eBay and the system is better.

Why does it matter whether the potential buyer sees the listing from eBay, Google or Facebook. I guess if the seller sources on Facebook it might be awkward reselling it to the same audience. Also I read eBay will be selecting certain listings and I also read in a community blog that sellers can opt out of Facebook. I think the eBay listings will fall into the sponsored listings on Facebook the same way Temu and Instacart and other sponsored shops. Pretty much a link. I don't think eBay is just gonna dump the whole eBay platform in Facebook, so just having select listings makes sense.

@commonwealthflipper true, it does help, but at what cost to the bottom line? You have to work harder to drive more sales to compensate for the fees. Before you know it, You're selling $120k of inventory and only bringing home $50k and that doesnt cover the $30k of yearly costs. It's like cutting a blanket in half, sewing the opposite ends together and thinking its longer.😂

Ebay does nothing that in the end doesn't make them more profits. I remember when Paypal was free, listing an item was 5 cents, you could leave negative feedback for buyers, you didn't have to pay fees on the postage and on and on. I've seen the changes for 25 yrs now and sorry to say but it always costs the sellers. Thx Kevin as I hadn't heard this.

I think what would be great if I'm listing something to sell on ebay and an ad would come up on facebook and it would be my item I would think the poor little seller like me who only sells a few items it would help out so much. I wouldn't mine paying a small fee for this to happen. Sometimes I feel like my items get lost on ebay because their are so many other big guys out there selling. Just my opinion.
