Ik that shrines aren’t dungeons but I still liked them a lot cuz some of them had to make me really creative and I liked all the divine beasts except for the fire one just because of how long it took for me to get in.

I'm not quite sure how you put Ancient Cistern (much as I like it too) above Ocarina's Forest Temple. The Forest Temple and Jabu's Belly famously made one of the best lead developers (Bullfrog) that saw these revealed at the E3 back then, faint. He said he could not fathom what he had just seen as possible, in his words

It is a good one, the whole thing is rather unsettling and bizzare, like you have so many questions about the place, why the place is, why is it where it is, when was it created, how was it created, who are the oocos, why are they so creepy, when were they created, etc, and then you kill a dragon after it all, which is always fun

Exactly. I never understood how so many people absolutely hate it - it's one of my favorites in the game and the series. The varying water levels, the ethereal music, the unique architecture, the aquatic enemies, the battle with Dark Link, the Longshot, and the fight with Morpha were all so amazing. The only flaw it has is that the tunnel of whirlpools can be very frustrating to navigate, but once you figure out how to traverse it, it's no longer an issue.

Okay though, if you look at it objectively the Water Temple was actually well-designed. The only problem (which was a huge problem mind you, huge enough to ruin the temple) was that you couldn't put iron boots on your equipped items. That one change would make it probably worthy of top 10 in my opinion

Climber 20 I’ve always really liked Temple of Time... for me that’s definitely nostalgia though as replaying it has shown me that it’s a bit lackluster but I still think the last 4 dungeons in Twilight Princess are the best in the series

Hyrule castle is unique in the game in that it actually has a unique atmosphere and an actual dungeon feeling. The fact that they pulled off a complete nonlinear design is also impressive as hell. Honestly this area is the only truly well crafted zone in the entire game.

Yeah, the linearity isn't a problem in my opinion. The padding and repetitiveness are, however. It's still one of the best Zelda games I think. It did more for the overall story and world of Zelda than any game since Ocarina.

I never forget the first time I did Forest Temple in Ocarina of Time, because I got stuck by not being able to get through the locked door that leads to the Poe portraits (and subsequently the bow and arrow). I had a little walkthrough guide from the UK’s Official Nintendo Magazine which I was using to help me through the game (my first ever Zelda experience) - however it was very basic and didn’t provide any map locations or detailed explanations etc. I got so frustrated by not finding the key to open the door I even sent a letter to the magazine hoping they will provide the answer in their tips section in the following issue (which it didn’t, we also had no internet at the time to look up the solution). I was so stuck I ended up quitting the Forest Temple and eventually found my way to the Fire Temple - and completing it without the help from the guide (this guide was ‘part 1’ and only went up to the forest Temple as the next issue of the Magazine would provide the second part of walkthrough, however this had not come out yet)! Eventually I returned to the Forest Temple where I had believed to search high and wide over and over again - only to occur to me that the very first area when you enter with the two wolfos was actually part of the dungeon and not the outside. It is then I found the vine to climb up and get the damn key that had lauded me for the better part of two weeks! I have replayed the game and Forest Temple dungeon many times in subsequent years but have never forgotten this experience - and I always grab that key first thing every time I enter! Perhaps for a future video you can make a countdown of the most common times players have gotten stuck in a Zelda game?

Thats the fun thing, you just need the hookshot for the fire temple and you can do a sizeable portion of the water temple. Shoot, I've gotten Epona and got the biggoron sword before I even went to get the hookshot (though it makes the ice cavern easier, but still not necessary). You have to be more patient, but you get Seranade of Water song and iron boots early. I've also beat Gerudo fortress with only the hookshot - and got the heart piece using it. While this isn't much earlier, opening Darunia's door will give access to lighting torches - and bomb flowers. You have just enough time to light the bomb flowers blocking the path back to Lost Woods, without need for the Goron Bracelet. I only learned of this because of Master Mode making use of the lit stick and using it to set off bomb flowers. If I remember correctly Saria should be there at the Sacred Forest Meadow to teach you her song.

Maybe I suck at the game or maybe I made a mistake by only going into thunderblight ganon with only 4 hearts, but I can’t fricking beat him! I always get him down to one or two hits away from dead then he wants to zip everywhere and hit me multiple times. I like the dungeon but the boss fight ruins it for me

I love skyward sword (I'm actually replaying it right now) but the lack of connection between the areas was really disappointing. It didn't feel like a world at all, the game forced you to go up to the sky and down to the other area if for example, you wanted to go from Eldin to Faron. I got used to Twilight princess where you just unlock areas, bomb some piles of rocks and BAM, you could loop around Hyrule field without a single loading screen, so the going up and down to the sky thing, really hit me.

The Water Dragon was filler galore and dragged the game and pacing down super hard and one of the fights against the Imprisoned needs to go or just make a partial emergence, enough for Groose to see what Link deals with.

@@ShadowSkyX Same here, I don't have much problems with my motion controls, so I find the battles very enjoyable, especially fighting Koloktos. Oh, the water dragon is an annoyance, in personality and the quests she asks you to do. The fire dragon kind of sucked too, just for the fact he only shows up to give a silly explanation of why everything was chaotic in Eldin and that he's going to fix it and that's it. I wish he was a bit more present in the game. Three battles with the Imprisoned are too much. I was already sick of him when I realized I had to fight him a second time and then he shows up A THIRD TIME AND HE CAN FLY. One thing I thought after my first playthrough is that I would've liked to have Ghirahim as an overworld boss instead of a dugeon's. I love fighting Ghirahim, but I felt like he took the place of two potencially cool dungeon bosses.... Also not fighting Ghirahim and the Imprisoned three times, two is good for me.

I think that the Ancient Cistern and the Sandship are the best dungeons in the series (I really love Skyward Sword dungeons). If I don't count the Boss fight, the Sandship is the best for me, but since Koloktos is my favourite boss in the entire series, I don't feel like choosing which dungeon is the best.

My fav dungeon is the Goron Mines from Twilight Princess. The main reason, because of the Iron Boots. For me that was normally one of the most weakest item in the Zelda franchise, but how TP has you use them is brilliant! I enjoy the challenges and puzzles and I like how you get the boss key too. Plus, people tend not to like Water levels my thing is Fire levels, normally (besides deserts and ghost levels). This is one of the few exceptions. Out of the ones mention here, my fav is the Spirit Temple for the reasons ya'll listed, but it's not my fav OOT dungeon though, that honor belongs to The Shadow Temple because I enjoyed the puzzles there more.

Forest Temple is really my strongest childhood memory from OOT. The magical music, strange hallway, even the garden maze with the moblin leading up to the temple... For reasons unknown I’ve also really enjoyed all of Zeldas fire themed temples. Looking forward to Death Mountain in TotK!

I'm one of the few who absolutely love Skyward Sword. The Ancient Cistern is also one of my favorite temples/dungeons in the series, if only for the atmosphere. I like scaling the statue once it's at its highest to look down from the trippy glass ceiling and at the Furnixes flying by; really quite serene. I hate how in this video of it they played with the interface on - put that on Pro and get all that crap off the screen!!! XD

I hope they stick to the idea of open-ended puzzles that have multiple solutions instead of regressing back to stuff like block and switch puzzles. But having non-shrine, non-Sheikah dungeons should absolutely be in Botw 2. Hell instead of having 120 shrines and 900 Korok seeds, have like maybe 20-25 optional dungeons in the open world.

I know this will be unpopular, but I liked the shrines in Breath of the Wild the best. I only get brief windows to play and sometimes if I'm in a large dungeon, I forget where I left off the time before and have to backtrack to remember what I was trying to do. If I only have time for 1-2 shrines, I can complete these in that time window with a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. With 120, there will be some shrines that are more challenging than others, but I can still get through a tough one in 10 minutes or so, and then I can go about the rest of my day.

Yeah, I hope it's unpopular because the Shrines are easily my least favorite feature ever implemented in Zelda. It's so deeply generic, ugly, and they just slap them all over the map ruining the aesthetic. I'd much rather 5-10 well crafted locations like Hyrule Castle than any of the shrines they made me boringly mull through. It turns the beautiful dungeon experience of the Zelda series into a grind...which is the worst thing I can say about a thing in a videogame. It boils down all the creative and fun elements of dungeons in the previous games and turns them into bite sized chores with little aesthetic surprise or interest, and I go from environmental storytelling to cheap cookie cutter copy paste'd rooms. I get that they are sensitive to your time...but you can just pause the game.

I love how TP hyrule castle builds up tension from beginning to the very top. The bgm thunder and lightning made it feel like the final battle was getting nearer and nearer. The game even included ally aid like the support of the resistance, souls of the fallen soldiers, and the moved king bulblin who "followed the stronger side". Also that midna scene in the beginning where she got all hyped up and destroyed the barrier was intense

I do like TP's combat better than others simply because there is more to do than to spam B to win and they got the finishing blow move to remedy waiting for their recovery.

The Forrest Temple is unbeatable IMO! the theme is haunting and amazing, the temple design is genius and what's better than a abandoned overgrown mansion in the middle of the Forrest? Also not forgetting it's the home of one of the best Zelda bosses in Zelda history! Phantom Ganon! i will never forget the first time entered that Temple.. I was blown away!

@@swlchl Oh yes i love MM but i'm not a fan of Stone Tower at all....HOWEVER!!! the design is absolutely genius and the soundtrack is nice, i also like fighting the boss as Giant Link it's something new and awesome :) i fully understand the love for that temple but my favorite in that game is Great Bay!

13:39 This is exactly how I feel about the Forest Temple. Hearing this brought me to tears a little. Sometimes I still hear the ambiance when I feel nostalgic. I have to say though, I think the Spirit Temple is up at the top with this one and the Ancient Cistern, which I knew you would choose as number one. Also the Spirit Temple got some of its inspiration from Islam. I think the Shadow Temple is amazing too.

@Lima L. I love the Forest Temple background music too. It fits it perfectly. It's soothing yet ominous like being in a garden, but there's a wallmaster stalking you, or like knowing what to do but not being sure where to look like with the Phantom Ganon battle and the Poe Sisters. That one part in the background music that gets louder and more unsettling always freaks me out. It 's like the sound that plays when your hearts are low.

Stone Tower Temple, Forest Temple, Level 9 from TLoZ, Hyrule Castle from BotW, and the Skykeep from SW are my favorites. Skykeep is very underratted, I love the concept of moving the rooms around and collecting the triforce. Honorable mentions go to Ancient Cistern, Great Bay Temple, Ice Dungeon in ALBW, and Wind Temple from WW.

My Number 1 favorite Dungeon in any Zelda game will always be the Earth Temple for Wind Waker. Everything in there was placed so well to make the experience really fun, & traveling through the dungeon with one of my favorite characters (Medli) made it even better. I’ll never forget figuring out that you have to use your Shield to deflect light by complete accident.

Stone Tower Temple in Majora's mask (N64) was fine. The 3D version didn't fix the entrance where you play elegy of emptiness 20,000,000 times. I wondered if I was fighting twinmold correctly

I'll never forget the Forest Temple... The chills I got when the music kicked in and the wolfos attacked, and how they only got stronger as I plunged deeper into the dark, ghost-ridden mansion. An experience that's never been topped since!

I feel like the spirit tower from spirit tracks is one of my favorites, as the way it works is really cool, how it's kind of like a part 2 to every dungeon in the game and the more dungeons you defeat the more floors you unlock. Spirit tracks was such an underrated game and still is, but is one of my all time favorites and the first Zelda game I ever played

Forest temple is my personal best dungeon aswell I have played so many Zelda games and for years and years I could not even get close to picking one favourite as I have got so many to pick but when I bought ocarina of time and then got to the forest temple I knew that I would really enjoy doing this dungeon and that was the minute that I first entered the main door and saw all of the Poe sisters and now that will always be the one that forever will stand out and will remain at the top of my list of the best dungeons ever and I will be really shocked if I ever change it to another one because that dungeon is just so blooming fantastic and just really special and also eerie. X

8.) Earth Temple is amazing. Although I normally don't like dark, crypt-like places in video games, I love the music, the use of light, the Mirror Shield, and co-oping with Medley, one of my favorite characters in Wind Waker. 6.) Spirit Temple has another special place in my heart! It's no surprise that both Spirit and Earth Temple are in my top 5 list, with both having a Mirror Shield. The aesthetic and music is just sooooo good, and it was clever to split it into Child and Adult halves. Welp, I guess I finally will be able to experience the Skyward Sword dungeons on this list because the HD remake was announced for the Switch!

Forest Temple and Thieve's Town (LttP) easily. Forest Temple is perfectly eerie, and the twists and turns plus its amazing music nail the idea that the gloves are off and the adult dungeons aren't playing around. Thieve's Town and its twist of seeing the boss room early then finding the maiden, but having her turn into the boss once you take her to that room captivated me at a young age and still mystifies me to this day. It's such a neat concept.

I just don't get why everyone loves the forest temple so much. I mean sure it was a pretty good dungeon but nothing spectacular. Ancient cistern, stone tower temple, the sandship and the desert dungeon in tp (I don't know how to spell the english name) all were outstanding but the forest temple never felt like something special to me. The poesisters aren't very exciting. I'm also not a fan of fighting the same miniboss three times. The twisted corridor is cool but that is just one small thing and the dungeon only uses it in two locations and then you never see it again. The athmosphere wasn't that special to me either: A old temple in the middle of the forest. Phantom Ganon was just a combination of "find the real enemy" and "classic Zelda tennis". I don't hate this dungeon. I definitely think it's one of the better dungeons. But I don't think it's anything outstanding. And I just don't get how anyone can choose this as their favorite Zelda dungeon. Is it simply nostalgia. Or am I just stupid. I'm just asking why everyone loves this dungeon, cause I don't understand it.

People love the forest temple simply because of the atmosphere, music is one of the creepiest tunes in the series, lots of dark green and greys that give off the haunted vibe to it. And personally it's one of the few dungeons that is hard to remember, could be bad game design, but who doesn't want blind spots in one of their favorite games? I usually have fun in it, so it's good design in my book.

My top 5 is: 5.Dragon Roost island dungeon-really nice introduction with a nice first boss 4.Temple of time(Twilight Princess)-slow start but once you get the rod its sooo satisfying 3.Sandship-Man that was one experience alright 2.Forest Temple-just the design of a stone foretress/temple overgrown in a forest is beautiful 1.Snowpeak ruins-Yo this place is so cool and with those mindboggling puzzles where you really have to think and the design of a mansion on snowy mountain is outstanding

I’ve played legend of Zelda since I was super young. But I have to say my number one would be the temple of time from twilight princess. The boss wasn’t that fun for me, although the nostalgia of seeing the temple of time like that and going through the door was just my biggest moment as a kid

Only just recently got a Switch and Skyward Sword HD and I must say I love the Lanaryu Mining Facility. So far it's my favorite dungeon in the game. Love the alternating color pallet caused by the time shifting mechanic of the region. Plus the "ancient technology" aspect. The boss is nothing to write home about but it's not terrible either.

I had only one problem with that dungeon. The fantastic amount of waiting you had to do for things on slow moving contraptions or pea-hats to move into the correct position for the claw shot. It didn't ruin it for me, still fantastic, just would have been better without it.

One of my favorites was the spirit tower from spirit tracks. It was so much fun sneaking past phantoms, and solving puzzles with Zelda helping the entire time. The sneaking around was fun, and some of the puzzles had me stumped for a long time until I finally figured them out It’s a shame the other dungeons were kinda meh in certain ways

I really liked Hyrule Castle from Twilight Princess because of the atmosphere and buildup. I also loved the Palace of Twilight. I loved all the dungeons from Skyward Sword, especially the Lanayru Mining Facility and fire sanctuary. Final Trial has one of the best bosses in all of Zelda. The Shadow Temple was really spooky but awesome. Other than that, you really nailed this video

Though I would probably swap out Stone Tower for Great Bay Temple, because Stone Tower is severely held back by how many times you have to play the Elegy of Emptiness, and how cumbersome the process of re-entering the dungeon can be whenever you need to flip it.
