Ive noticed that when im in a conversation with two of my friends or more, they do most of the talking. Im always listening and from time to time I say something. Meanwhile in my head I have a whole discussion about what is said. To everything my friends says im responding in my head, like commenting. And when there is something I really like to share (an idea, an experience, my opinion, an information), I speak up. Also I dont like being in the spotlight. I rather listen than talk. I always had the impression I was rather talketiv until I realised thats not the case. When I have a conversation with just one person, its another case. There I also listen but im responding more. Its also funny that when someone helps me with a (math) problem I have and they tell me an important information thats new to me, I first have to think about it. If I understand it and if it lines up with the things I already know. I have to make connections between the new info and my own knowledge. - Probably an intp (not so sure about that from time to time :) )

INFJ here with ESFJ work bestie! At work we banter back and forth and it’s one of my favourite things! She’s fiery and brave and I’ve always admired her cheeky strength, even when it sometimes gets us into a little bit of trouble with the guys and gals in charge ;) worth it.

It made me laugh that he mentioned the talking stick when talking about IJs. I'm an EFM graduate, and our mentor was an INFJ. We each took the test to determine our personality type as part of the class. Apparently they had used a talking stick before I joined the class, but stopped that for whatever reason. Occasionally people made jokes about how maybe we should bring the talking stick back when certain people were dominating the conversation. I'm an INFP and I was probably the quietest member of the class. The part about how we take so long to process everything before we open our mouths really resonated with me.

INTJ who gets to the point with an ESTJ best friend. This explains why we click so well even though people don't really talk about this "pairing" often. His extroverted thinking is so much faster than mine.

People don't talk about this pairing 'cause it's usually a disaster -- ESTJ sees INTJ as lazy dreamer, INTJ sees ESTJ as hasty mindless slave to tradition. Good on you and your friend for making it work

It make so much sense for EP, because they have Te or Fe, on position 3. As you said on an other video, the 3rd function : for Extrovert it look awkward, and shy for Introverts. By making connections between video, It so much understandable.

This explains A LOT... Good timing right after the ENFP video, because I was wondering what exactly we (likely) do wrong/different from others when talking. I guess we (I at least) tend to roller coaster through connections, weird musings and what if scenarios, while the ExxJ is slowly cooking in their brain :D ...yeah I know >.< self improvement over self excusing, but it's nice to get the affirmation not to be "born wrong" just different...

This is very reminiscent to a conversation I had with someone a few days ago. I tried to articulate that if I don't have prior knowledge of a topic, I won't have much to say at all. My lack of response doesn't equate to me being a pseudo intellectual, but my overall refusal to look like a buffoon talking about something I know very little about. Now I try not to lean too heavily into this, and use it as an excuse, but if the topic goes to some strange esoteric topic I'm going to be rather lost for words on how to proceed. I thought ISTJs were common, and I wouldn't have a problem like this lol.

I've also been thinking about those letters, and what they mean. My idea was that we go through a process of P I J E in that order. We percieve or discover things, then we introvert or process them/create a question in our mind, then we judge or answer that question, finally extroverting or applying that answer to the outside world. So what your type's i/e p/j letters are determines which of the PIJE you prefer or are better at. Watching your video was interesting, comparing it to these thoughts. They kind of line up

I would like to get your view on someone that had brain trauma and the changes that may occur in ones' personality? Can it stay the same or change or be both types? Thank you! Melissa
@heatherbryant4197
@heatherbryant4197 5 жыл бұрын
Really interesting question! I suspect any changes that might occur would be heavily influenced by the region of the brain affected. For example, significant damage to the frontal lobe might produce changes in higher-order processing, such as considering moral or ethical dilemmas, and impulse control, which would seem to impact what we see as personality. While on the other hand, damage to the occipital lobe, or let's say even specifically the visual area of the brain, (I would expect) might produce mostly physiological changes and not personality. I'd have to do more research, even just to remind myself of half of what I used to know. And I think neuroscience is a field that is rapidly developing and what we currently understand about the way the brain processes information may shift over time (e.g. there may be areas we think only deal with certain tasks that are actually involved in many other functions). So even if I were a neuroscientist, I wouldn't feel comfortable answering with certainty. But I think it's a great question! If you haven't already looked into it, I suspect you would be very interested in Dario Nardi's research.

@@heatherbryant4197 Thank you very much! Even my own doctors can't give me an answer. My family tells me that I am not me anymore since the car accident. (suffered a head trauma which was a severe head concussion, due to whiplash) I have had a 12mm cyst around my pineal gland for at least 12 years that I didn't even know about until after the accident in 2017. and I started having headaches and migraines, then seizures that I still sometimes have. I will definitely check him out! It's funny, in high school when we did the MBTI 2 question forced test and I was INFJ and they said that I would do a good job in the medical field n they asked me what I wanted to do and I said, I want to be a neurosurgeon....Maybe this is GOD's way of allowing me to do something in that area that will help others. And that's all I really want to do anyway. :) Thank you again for your comment! Gives me hope that if I keep asking someone will know or I'll get to the answer on my own through research n talking with my doctors to find an answer:) Melissa

Most ENTJ wouldn't like me me because i would tell them that their idea will not work . Here is the reason why ............. I don't like people who don't look at problems at all angles . If i see a problem , i will point it out . I can bump heads with these people all day long . I remember when i was in first grade , a teacher pointed out that i was coloring outside the lines . I went to every single desk and telling the teacher that everyone was coloring outside the lines . The first grade teacher turn her back against me and started to walk towards her small room . I yelled " DON''T YOU WALK AWAY FROM ME . I AM NOT DONE TALKING TO YOU . " . The teacher just kept walking away without saying a word . . I was so pissed off that day and to this day because there is no closure . I don't yell at people unless they have criticize me ( criticism feels like someone just my head with a large steel mallet . I can feel this emotional pain running through my body . ) , than these people have started WW3 . Of course , you know this means war .

Do you think that temper also could be connected with personality type?
@AsuraPsych
@AsuraPsych 5 жыл бұрын
Hey there, If by temper you mean anger issues, then yes there are some correlations. Ti dominant types, IxTPs, are noted as being prone to small bursts of angry emotions because of repressed extroverted feelings. Generally types that have either dominant or repressed feeling functions are the most likely to develop some form of temper problem, though it is of course not a defining characteristic of those types. Thanks for watching!

It's difficult if you're not clearly introverted or extraverted. To distinguish between ENTJ and INTJ, one thing that helps me is to look at the things they are not good at. What has caused you the most problems in your life, especially in situations where you were stressed, in a hurry or distracted? For INTJ's it's social things. Not thinking about or noticing how your behavior or the things you say are affecting others, and only in hindsight realising you've been rude for instance. For ENTJ it's ignoring signals like hunger, tiredness or sleep. Also, not remembering exactly how you did something a previous time, so you tend to make the same mistake more than once.

If you are following mbti, then you should know that difference between an ENTJ and INTJ is not a matter of degrees of extraversion and introversion. It is a difference between which function you use the most, Ni or Te. You have to study cognitive functions to know your type. You are either an INTJ or ENTJ. There is no XNTJ. It is not a matter of you being an introvert, extrovert or ambivert. A quick tip Too much novel, external stimuli is irritating and at the same time exciting for you- You are an INTJ Exploring the world of personal feelings and belief systems intrigues and annoys you at the same time - You are an ENTJ

Hari Sankar great point you’ve made, but instead of just MBTI I would add Jungian Typology as a whole. Most of the theories I’ve seen within Jungian Typology such as Objective Personality or Socionics also don’t have this ambivert concept. However that’s just a small nitpick I wanted to point out.
