good information

In many ways this is the most effective and lasting power base, but it is also the rarest occurring in actual practice because it is the most selfless. The other five sources are vested power that you retain control over as you use it. Informational Power is the one power that you must give away and no longer control. A leader must have courage, trust, and good intentions to access this great power... and in this information age a leader must learn to do this because hording information is becoming less and less possible. Informational hoarders are finding themselves bypassed with increasing frequency. If you do not use your Informational Power and give it away to others then those people will find someone or something that will give it to them instead of you.

"He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. That ideas should freely spread from one to another over the globe, for the moral and mutual instruction of man, and improvement of his condition, seems to have been peculiarly and benevolently designed by nature, when she made them, like fire, expansible over all space, without lessening their density in any point, and like the air in which we breathe, move, and have our physical being, incapable of confinement or exclusive appropriation.” -Thomas Jefferson

how do you increase the informational power?

The first thing that comes to mind is doing good research to gather high-quality information. Next, you'd share that information with the audiences/listeners you want to hear it.

I really like this video, especially because lately the world seems to drive on expertise information instead of real information.

Good video, but for my taste you focused too much on the "positive" side of this power source ("give good information"); I even read in the comments about how this was the "most selfless" form of power - I could not disagree more. What about the flipside? Propaganda, false advertising, gaslighting, fake news etc. where manipulators intentionally give false information (or frame it) to mislead their addressees for selfish reasons. It might even be the most dangerous form of power: As you said, you don't even remember who you learned that sugar thing from despite it being a memorable event. Think of all the cases where people put ideas into your head that "hatched" years later without you knowing where/how you got that idea at all. Maybe even make a whole series of this: The Dark Side of Power or so lol - for educational purposes only, of course.

Interesting point. I'm just teaching the concepts as they are. Any of these types of power can be used for either good or evil. These types of power are like money, to use a metaphor. Money, as a object, is neutral. It's just a tool. People use money for good or evil depending upon their internal character. So, you are right in that these types of powers may have a dark side but that is not located in the type of power itself. It's located in the heart of the people who use power either for the benefit of themselves or for others. If you think about each of the flip-side issues you mentioned (e.g., propaganda, false advertising, etc.) the individuals behind those decisions are the problem, not the type of power.
