Robert Owen was well into co-operatives and was involved in the New Lanark mill village on the Clyde He was also partly responsible for the factory act that limited the working day to 12 hours.

The newest member of our family, a small grey kitten named Luna Sky who is cute as a button one moment and a spiteful Gollum-eque figure the next, says, "Hello," to Wilf, who provoked a response from them. Luna Sky likes to bite my face - you might be familiar with the film Alien...

"Once you label me you negate me", Kierkgaard said, and that's what's frustrating about the mindset that creates those stupid quizes, it's truer to say that you believe in a free and just world, which isn't diminishing and can't be misinterpreted..

Point is are we going to bring about socialism or even a secular democracy through Jolani rebranded Al Qaeda? I completely understand Talal and his families elation along with other Syrians oppressed by Asad. I also agree with Alexei that the left should never defend dodgy dictatorships. BUT we do need to be realistic about the alliance of forces that brought about this change. The Kurds are in a perilous situation. Netanyahu is happy. The Palestinians continue to be slaughted in a genocide. We must learn from Iraq and Libya and there is a high probability of Syria becoming another carved up failed state. The western media coverage of Syrians released from prison stands in stark contrast to the lack of concern for Palestinians in Israeli prison camps and detention centres.

Also much of the commentary on this show is contradicted in the latest Duran episode (2102). I.e. the refugees are NOT coming back, sectarian tensions are bubbling over, and religious minorities are under threat. Who is correct?

sadly i can't watch it until discussion of syria is over. i'm not white. and i'm an agnostic, scientifically gifted former ismaili muslim - so even if assad wasn't wonderful, all these other people would behead me in 5 mins and assad would probably call me sir, so i can't possibly listen to people who support any of the head choppers!!! thus i have to sit it out and just watch Lee Camp only (apart from lee camp and alexei sayle, ALL the comedians of earth have had their brains stolen) enjoyed the video title and the comment though. sayle has not failed me. some entz were here for me.

My Mate's Dad was an East London Jew that participated in Cable Street. He was also a communist, like me, but for him that meant he was a bacon-eating Jew, like Karl Marx. We had many a bacon butty in the downstairs kitchen that he'd kindly make, maybe while I worked on their garden for cash. Those were winter mornings in the '90s. In some ways listening to this while making myself a bacon sarnie reminds me of that in a small way. Jezza was right about everything except for Europe. Ironic that he was on the winning side in the schism from the 1970s-90s in the UK regarding Eurocommunism, which lost us a lot of good people, and I'm on the wrong side of that debate, though still think that I'm right that even a neocorporatist EU is a better evil than the Mad Max Tory privatised no toilet roll hellscape that we get with Brexit.
@johnpulman713719 күн бұрын
Jezza campaigned against Brexit (did more events than the official Remain campaign) but thought the referendum result had to be respected. He was persuaded by Starmer et al to support the second referendum policy which I think was his big mistake. IMO he should have pushed a positive Brexit with free movement and single market membership

I like how we scan communist content when we are not at 'the Institute' with Alexander. I think we must learn in 2025 to embrace the communists out there, regardless of orientation. If the aim is to educate, why not begin with those most prone? If we shall be ready to absorb the working class before full fascism, we must avoid the usual traps that all communists are walking straight into - the divide. When I grew up in the seventies, we had in Denmark several communist parties - also represented in parliament! They managed to obliterate themselves - all by themselves. Let's be patient with Leftists and Trotskyists in 2025 - and bring real communism to effect slowly by surely.

shall we do a grown up assessment of syria (i have provided some refs for you to use for actual facts, so do that, but here's my basic overview) people who say "yeah but assad" and so on, are even more deluded than people who say "yeah but america" - because it goes far beyond any 2/3 sided argument of numpties in fact the syria assault was intended to be a small attack, a capture of a fraction of syria leading to internal problems sucking money out of the east and pumping weapon sales in the west the idea was to save wall street and london who are on their last legs, hanging by a thread over a pit - all tricks to keep price falsely inflated have been failing lately and the western financiers are in trouble syria was going to change that, it backfired. aside from a bit of propaganda value all it did was entrench the financial slide totally. it means there was a 5% to 20% chance of survival for the majority of westerners (survival of a financial crash) in 2025, now it is 0% so if you really want "the bigger picture" - the HTS situ in syria now means taht 10s of millions of westerners will suffer much more poverty than may have been necessary, in 2025 this you'd think would be your first priority, but as westerners your first priority is to say "ha ha, my team won" like the brexiters who laughed that their team had "won"!!! ha ha ha ha. seriously. praising HTS in syria is like saying "brexit made britain richer" well done for proving rik mayall right about how intelligent most of you aren't.
