Really embraces the revolutionary angle of Decepticons and their cause in some stories. Something I enjoyed about the Decepticon faction in Animated was that they were the underdogs and were outmatched in numbers by the Autobots. But each individual was extremely dangerous and a threat.

If I’m recalling correctly, IDW Megatron having a “human” mode (23:51) is actually a digital avatar that’s passively made for him when the Lost Light crew had to briefly enter a portion of cyberspace that used human forms as avatars to find & uncover information. He wasn’t particularly fond of it (mainly since he never had to use a digital avatar beforehand) but reluctantly accepted it.

Prime Megatron is still my favorite canon design, since it and Bayverse Megs were my first introductions to the character. I've always associated Megatron with lots of spikes, which I now associate with his past as a gladiator. That said, I love Megatron designs when his alt mode is a tank as well... to show his might, and even better when he is as cunning as he is powerful.

Fun fact; after it turned out the Classics version failed toy gun laws, Hasbro waited until 2016 to bring in a further repainted version known as Classics Platinum Edition. While I prefer how that version looks in gun mode over the previous Hasbro Classics; the Takara Heneki version is still ultimately better. Besides, this will likely be the last time Hasbro (not Takara) will seriously attempt a gun Megatron.

My favorite Megatron designs: G1, Prime, Earthspark, Cyberverse, WFC and FOC games, 2007, RotF, TLK, Bumblebee and ONE! But if I had to pick one, it definitely have to be his RotF design, I've been growing up on the first three Bayverse movies, so their take on Megatron is really nostalgic to me, and RotF is my favorite, not just the movie as whole, this is also where Megatron really peaked for me as well! He was badass with his flying-alien-tank mode and his huge claw on his weapon!

9:23 you don't see him as Megatron because he isn't, his real name is Gigatron, they renamed him as Megatron in the west for name recognition Also, you're right about Energon Megatron being Galvatron, yet again, they changed the name in the west for name recognition. You see, in Armada when Megatron got a power up and his colours changed to purple, in Japan he still was Megatron but in the west he renamed himself as galvatron. When he gets resurrected in Energon, that's when he really changed his name to Galvatron and this is reflected in his design as well which was in fact a reference to his G1 counterpart

In fairness, Tfp Megatron doesn't have some bullshit engineering to force it to work, unlike Unique toys "Megatron." Tlk Megatron has to essentially CHEAT to transform, whereas Tfp doesn't. If your transformers design has to essentially be flipped inside out just to make the transformation work, then it's probably not a good design. Same with Knight Optimus.

Dunno about you when it comes to live action, but I personally love the Mad Max style Megatron in Dotm. The shotgun is dope, the chains are dope, the cloak is dope and the massive hole in the head from the previous movie giving him this more battle-scarred look is absolutely awesome. Also, I think the reason the design doesn't have any windows or other stuff on his chest, it's probably so he wouldn't look too similar to Optimus, since he's often the one with the truck window chest.

To anyone watching this who hasn't seen TF1: (spoilers for one this but it's been like 5 months but jic lol) He gets his fusion canon midway through the movie which is a perfect G1 adaptation (although he is pretty small still, Starscream was still taller than him lmao) but then at the very end he gets another upgrade which makes him MASSIVE and just more amped up and intense. His fusion cannon becomes this triple-barreled cannon thing and it looks pretty great. The best way to describe it is his 2nd form is a really faithful G1 adaptation, where his 3rd form is inspired by G1 but is more stylized.
