you ever found a solution to that tick I got the same. When cold it’s quiet and hot it ticks. Also new lifters and all that

I have not found any solution. I am running Driven GP-1 oil in it now, this is a 10W-30 synthetic blend. This is the 3rd type of oil I have tried and they all sound about the same. I have dual remote oil filters now, in addition to an engine oil cooler that was always there. In cold weather the oil runs cooler and this affects the sound a little bit. Basically the hotter the oil the noisier it gets. I feel less heat with my hand at the cooler after installing the large dual remote oil filters, so I guess the 2 big cans and the plumbing reject some heat. I had a Comp Cams rep preach to me about natural base oil yielding higher oil psi. This is not true by my observation. He also told me to use a "good synthetic blend" which I have used, and none of this helps. I have had straight natural 30 weight, full synthetic multi weight and blended multi weight oil in it, with no improvement. I am convinced the only solution is to try somebody else's lifters next time, because these lifters are never going to run quiet.

I have a video of mine online take a listen. I at the same point you are… different oil filters and so on

what cam are you running, certain profiles are noisier than others.

The camshaft is Comp Cams #54-525-11, specs are duration @ .050" 194/206, lift .500/493, LSA 117* This is a mild stock idling cam that has .050" more lift at the valve than the GM OEM 5.3L cam it replaced. When it comes to how the engine runs with this cam I am pleased with it because it does exactly what I want. It pulls full throttle real nice on ported heads with 5psi boost and otherwise it drives like stock. Comp cams did tell me that a performance cam can have a more aggressive ramp profile intended to open more quickly that can result in greater noise. I don't know if that applies to this cam profile, but it is far from aggressive in anybody's book. This is actually the mildest grind they had to offer when I asked them for assistance in selection. It does not get any milder than this without going back to stock. I have driven the engine all summer, maybe 100 hours more, and the lifters have quieted down just a tiny bit, but not much. When cold they don't sound bad but they get louder once the oil is fully hot. I have become used to it since the engine does run well, so I reckon I will just live with it. But if the engine has to come apart again I will go back to OEM lifters with the plastic trays. This is only a 5500 rpm engine. I thought the link bar lifters would be a nice upgrade but I had no idea the noise nightmare that was in store. I don't know if you listened to the video I made of the Comp Cams LS retrofit lifters I had in the engine at first, but they were horribly noisy. I went to Evolution lifters and they are quieter than the LS retrofit, but still noisy. That's all I can say for my experience with them.

@@onemoremisfit thanks for the info, extremely valuable info. It's becoming impossible it seems to find a quiet hydraulic lifter these days.
