Great video! I've been thinking about getting a compac 16 to singlehanded and poke around the shallow waters of the chesapeake bay. There seem to be a lot of them around, and for decent prices too

Flying and videoing your com-pac cool , I have wanted to do that for a while I have flown from my power boat and one of my canoes but not from my Com-Pac 16 . They are pretty little boats and even prettier from the air . Just not sure I want to try to catch my drone while sailing lol . I fly over the water a lot , maybe if I had someone to catch it .

Yes it's pretty neat! Or you could find a nearby landing spot to put it down (dock or something). Take off from that spot and then click return to home and it will land by itself back there (hopefully you have a drone with this feature).

@@FishinTooling Yeah all of my drones have RTH but if no one is there to pick it up , a stranger could just say wow look a free drone lol . I'll work something out to get it done I have retrieved it before from the air from a moving boat but I had help and just stopped the canoe . My mavic and phantom won't let you get close because of the sensors , may do the dock like you said or just pull up and land while I'm at the dock lol gotta do it some how .

With practice; You could turn your Com-Pac 16 into an LDS 16(Landing Drone Sailboat 16); you just have to mark out your landing spot on your hatch with a "D" instead of an "H", just like Navy ships have!! How 'bout that?

It looked like neither person on this boat was controlling the drone, so maybe the better option is to have someone film your boat, as was done here.

Yes very stable. It has a 450lb keel that keeps it very upright and as it heels well, it rebounds quickly.
