Great video, hope you get that rig back to full working condition, it's a nice simple little side bander. 73

Thanks man I’m looking forward to it, what a great radio to sit out in your truck and talk a bit of skip when the feeling strikes you!

This is great video I have a 146 gtl that I lost modulation in the tr26 area I'm waiting for parts to repair it their same board as the one u have and this is great educational video for me

I’m glad I could help man, I wish you luck fixing your GTL! Most of the time Electrolytic capacitors will go bad and can short out the best way I know of testing no modulation is to get a signal tracer and just follow the path until you no longer get any sound coming from your signal tracers speaker Then refer to your schematic and see where you are and if there’s any caps near ground And you can test the base of your transistor to see if you have a signal going into it and coming out of it Right now I’m trying to find one relatively cheap on eBay to buy but money is tight right now and I can’t really afford to pay too much for one a tracer. The biggest advice I can give you of all time though is to get yourself a Desoldering iron It made my life so much easier in this video you just suck up all the Solder and pull the component right out

Great video. I just picked up the same exact radio at a yard sale. It also keys but no modulation. I'll be checking the mic plug first thing.

Great video, very interesting. As for Cool and the Gang i was never into that kind of music,although i am getting better.My son has me listening to all kinds of stuff. He got me listening to Green Day. Just an idea ,i think you mentioned this on a prior video. You should pick an evening and a relatively unused channel and see how many contacts you can make with your viewers . 73s 514 Ontario Canada

Yeah that would be great. I could put it on my community tab and it would alert people when I got on and also you guys could contact each other. I think channel 34 upper side band would be a good choice It’s higher in frequency so it skips a little better than lower channels Plus it’s upper side band which has much less interference on CB than lower sideband because everyone’s using LSB

I have a very similar radio, a PC122. They're basically the same thing from what I've heard, yours just doesn't have noise blanker
@JohnnyNJones2 жыл бұрын
Yes I can believe that, the PC 122 is another very small SSB Radio

@@JohnnyNJones Lol when I had the covers off of my PC122.. I saw the cutout for a 5 pin connector, I was like. " Wha???? How in the world? This thing's a 4 pin!" After some research, I'm think it's the same chassis..

@@billb6029 yeah man they just throw whatever cheap parts they can source in there. I have seen all sorts of strange things, I’ve seen six pin mics that only used four pins because they just happen to be cheaper

I think your VCO is dropping out at higher channels is offering to drop out. It is a Realistic, they tend to do things different from others. However, it is difficult to diagnose any CB from a distance. Strange, it sounds as if something is overloaded. I would use a normal mic, just in case something in the powered mic is interfering with things, after it is up and running properly, you can go back to the power mic. I have seen strange effects with power mic's, very seldom with the old CBs with a relay, but transistor switched ones, a lot of strange problems. The fact someone shorted the mic connections together also points to there, maybe being an issue with the mic! A normal mic with rule out everything, once radio works properly you can go back to power mic. Sorry, been in hospital, suddenly I was taken in!!!!
@JohnnyNJones3 жыл бұрын
I was using the stock Mic at the end of the video So if it’s not the power Mic then I will check the VCO circuits Oh man I’m sorry you’ve been in the hospital, I hope you’re doing OK I was wondering where you had gone Everything going OK with you now?
@BoB4jjjjs3 жыл бұрын
@@JohnnyNJones I'm alive. Check the mic through the PA into a speaker. Also check the PA switch itself, it is surprising how dirty contacts can screw things up. Voltage at VCO should be on Ch20 and checked on 1 and 40. Keep in mind this is a Realistic!!
