This was the first computer my parents ever bought, back in the fall of 1997. We eventually upgraded it to Windows 98 and the computer lasted until 2005 when my parents replaced it for some generic Dell desktop whose model number I don't even remember and only lasted 3 years before the hard drive crashed. To this day that Compaq was the longest lasting computer I ever used, and considering it still worked when my parents donated it, who knows how much longer that thing lasted for.

Yeah, the CRT is still really sharp.

I used to have one just like that. Except the videocard was Trio64V2 instead of Trio64V2 DX/GX, the modem was Compaq 33.6k-56k upgradeable instead of whatever your compaq have as modem, the AT power switch was in the top left corner of the rear part of the case and was red, and the RAM was 16MB expandable to 32 MB, yours is 32MB expandable to 64MB.

Cool! It looks very nice.

Nice, though I would have kept 95, and if I were to install 98 on that PC, I would have gone with 98lite which removes all influence of IE within the OS. Just a thought.

Very nice PC. Do you know what model number that CRT monitor has and when it was made? How do you get so many awesome PCs?

I remember getting one of those from Sam's club back in April of 1998 and at the time, I think was a little over $1,000
