I really enjoy this channel :D glad to see you doing what you are doing. These electric acoustics sound very good. I have read many attempt to say that painted violins kill their sound. The great thing about Acoustic-Electric Bowed instruments is that not only do they give you the best of both worlds, you're not loosing that Acoustic resonance & responce when plugged in, unlike the Solid Body instruments. Fretted Acoustic-Electric Violins would be cooler because then you're more in tune.

Barcus Berry still sounds like Barcus Berry. LOL. I still want a blue five string BB - sad that they don't make those anymore. I think of all of them, the Realist sounded closest to an good acoustic violin, when amplified, maybe followed by the Wood? And they both look very playable. I had the chance to play a Glasser the other day. I _think_ I liked it. Odd instrument - it did not really sound like a proper violin, but I quite liked the sound that came out anyway. Very round sounding when amplified. Plus shower safe... Almost all of these pale compared to an excellent acoustic violin properly amplified, which should retain the unique voice/ character of the instrument in the amplified environment.

@@MattBellViolinist With an Electric Violin & the reason for that is because we want the Violin section to get some more high end. We can't restring any 4/4 electric violin as an Electric Treble Violin because those strings will only work w/ 1/4 size electric violins. We really miss Dr Hutchins, she was the Octet luthier who really filled the gaps up.

@@MattBellViolinist There's just not enough high end. A Treble Violin tuned an Octave above a Standard Violin could be like an added shimmer. Oscar Stern here, I wish you had Acoustic-Electric Fretted Bowed instruments (including an Acoustic-Electric Viper up to 7 Strings and Frets, as well as the Acoustic-Electric Cobra up to 6 Stirngs and with Frets) because they're great for amplified settings, & they could allow you to play Rock music in an Unplugged setting.
